Planet Shining review
Buy Japan ver. at Yesasia's [US | Global] site

If ever there was a J-R&B/hip hop album to get, m-flo's Planet Shining
is it! I can't believe it took me almost 3 months till I decided to get this
album!!!

Anyways, here's the rundown on m-flo...it consists of 3 members: Lisa
(smooth vocals, occasional rapper), Verbal (rapper), and Taku (???). Their
music doesn't sound like typical J-music, it has mostly an American R&B/
hiphop influence, but it's not as annoying as the American stuff because the
songs are catchy & don't sound too similar to each other. I don't think there
are any J-artists out there that sound like m-flo (to my knowledge), if there
are, I'm sure that they're quite inferior to this threesome!

A minor complaint I have is all the interludes. At first it was interesting:
we're being taken on a journey into outerspace, there's even a flight attendant
& all; the interludes seem to tie in with the music too ("You have just selected
movie..." then it automatically goes into track 7). But after a few listens,
you just wanna hear the music without all those interruptions.

All in all, if you like R&B/hiphop music, or if you liked Double's Crystal
CD, especially the songs "Shake (another squall mix," and "Bed (Doubles),"
I guarantee you'll love this album!!! Lisa's presence just makes this album!

* Unfortunately, unlike some other reviews I've read on this album, the one
that I got (from YesAsia) didn't have that bonus CD. I think that the other
reviewers got the first edition copies.

   1. Intro--

   2. Ten Below Blazing--Wow! This song is slammin'! It's
      a great moody, aggressive song.

   3. interlude

   4. Planet Shining--A mellow, melodic song. Has sort
of a psychadelic feeeling. Lisa also raps in this one.

   5. Come Back To Me--(a single) Lisa's solo. A beautiful, yet
sad slow song. Has some intergalactic sounds in the beginning.

   6. interlude

   7. chronopsychology--(a single) Reminds me of "Bugaboo," a song
by Destiny's Child (an American R&B girl group). One of my favorites
from this album. The song is energetic & Lisa does some fast paced
singing, it's hard to keep up!

   8. Hands--(a single) A mellow song that's nice. The rapping
part doesn't quite fit in, but that's ok.

   9. interlude

  10. saywhatchugotta--All rap. Features 2 guest rappers: Alter Ego
& General Gow, along with Verbal. Not bad.

  11. Just Be--Opens up with Verbal's rapping, which I like. Kinda
average song, but it grew on me. Mellow cruising music.

  12. interlude

  13. Quantum Leap--(a single) A pretty cool rap song. Lisa also raps
& kinda sounds like a gangsta chick (listen to the sample).

  14. L.O.T. (Love or Truth)--(a single) a nice, mellow song.

  15. Deep Within--Not really a song. More like a poetry reading
set to music. The whole thing is in English...they sound too fluent in
it, I don't think they're from Japan, like how another site implies.
      's alright.

  16. been so long--I love this song!!! Has a nice melody & beat.
Lisa sings + she does some rapping along with Verbal. I love how they
      intertwine their singing/rapping!

  17. outro

Rating Definitely 10 out of 10!!!
