Sora wa akai kawa no hotori, or Anatolia Story, was created by Shinohara Chie and first came out in 1995. The title translates to ‘Shadow of Dark Water’ in chinese but the Japanese title translates to "The Sky is near the Red River". The manga consists of 28 volumes and was completed in 2002. Currently, it is being translated into english and is titled "Red River". The first three volumes have already been published by Viz comics. The story is about an average 15 year old Japanese student who was grabbed by mysterious hands from a puddle of water when she and her boyfriend were walking in the park together. The hands drag her down and when she resurfaces, she finds herself in the ancient Hittite Empire. Mystery, drama, suspense, and romance all twist together to form this wonderful and intriguing story.
