SAMMI'S WALLSTREET

Here's a little self-intro of myself. I'm Piao Hong, and I adopted this name from the tremendously wonderful show that Sammi acted in - The Vampire Returns. This show was screened on Channel 8 of TCS, Singapore, this lovely Passion Island I'm living in situated, in South East Asia.

I am a 15-year-old girl, studying Secondary 3 in Methodist Girls' School. I know how to speak English, Chinese, Hokkien and am trying very hard to learn Cantonese... though I am still very unsure of Cantonese and am trying to improve through Sammi's songs! The little photo was 'extracted' from an informal class photo. (As you can see, I'm almost lying on the floor!) I started homepage experimenting in December 1997 by looking at the sources of other people's homepage. Trust me, once you're inspired, self-teaching HTML can be very very fun!! My Extra Curricular Activity (ECA) in school is choir, and I sing the alto part. (YAY! Alto power! Sammi's an alto too!) Everytime during the Time Of Performance for my school choir, I think of Sammi and get a huge confident boost! Try thinking of Sammi when you're scared... it really feels so much better!

I learn piano, and this year, I'm taking my Grade 8 piano exam. The greatest thing during piano lessons is that, when the teacher is scolding me, "No!! This is a quaver, not a semi-quaver!!!", I can't help but think of it as a 'Sammi quaver'! Sammi's name is special, unique, and can really make me happy when I hear words like... 'Sammi-permeable', 'Sammicircle', 'Sammi-final', 'Sammi-detached'... hehe!

Most of my Friends are not really crazy about Sammi, which is great, since they usually give me all the beautiful Sammi articles!

Why I like Sammi? There are too many reasons! Sammi is really pretty, and her everchanging looks always gives her fans surprises. And I MUST stress this, not EVERYONE looks nice with hair dyed under different colours and lengths. Our Sammi queen, however, looks good in EVERY hairstyle she tries, and they're really original and different! She DARES to undergo changes, making us Sammifans' lives much more interesting!

Talking about changes, Sammi's figure changes too! When she first entered the entertainment circle, she was much plumper and cuter. Then in the 'transition' period, during the 'She bu de ne' or 'Fang bud dai' days, she was just right, looking really fabulous! And right now, she's so thin that she's almost like anorexic! However, this lets her wear more strapless blouses, which is seldom seen during the earlier years. Sammi has been through such tremendous changes after all the years, but she still remains her pretty image.

Psst, Sammi is also a live example for those plumper people out there (like me!) that we can get slimmer, if not, as slim as Sammi! So don't give up! Personally, I think of Sammi to restrict me from eating as much as I do last time!

Ha! Ask Me about Sammi's voice and I've got a lot to tell you. Sammi's beautiful voice is different from the other typical female voices. Her voice is much lower, much bolder. Her voice usually stands out, if she were to sing with other female singers. (This is really evident in 'A STEP FORWARD'.) And yet, despite the depth of her vocal chords, her voice is still clear, and her pronunciation is crystal clear, especially in English! (Chinese is an exception, but she has been living in Hong Kong, speaking and listening to Cantonese all her life. She's trying very hard and has improved a great deal these days!)

Yes, you may feel that Sammi's song are typical, but Sammi's songs ranges so greatly that you simply have to hear them. Just look, she has 10 over albums. Of all the albums, the songs she sing range from slow sentimental songs, fast and hip-hop tunes, to songs with a retrograd fashion. Sammi sings really well in such different ranges of music. She definitely deserves our praise and admiration!

Thus, to express my gratitude and love to Sammi, I've created this homepage Sammi's Wallstreet. At first I planned to just have Sammi's Wallpapers, but right now as you can see, I've added icons, cursors, animations, webring logos... I would love to learn how to make other cool stuff like desktop themes, logos and screen savers. If you know, please accept me as your disciple! =o)

Starting April'98, I've started to build a much more Intimate Relationship with Sammi... indirectly. Collecting her posters, articles, CDs, collectibles... Oh yes, if you find any Sammi stuff like posters of calendars, contact me okay? My email = piaohong@sammifans.com.

Actually I've known about Sammi since I was much younger, but I never really specifically like her. It was not until TCS started showing all the terrific Sammi shows like Detective Investigation Files II and The Vampire Returns. Sammi looks really cool, and I just Can't Let Go when I think of the way she looks when she has her sunglasses pushed up her fringe!

I still think The Vampire Returns is the greatest Hong Kong TV Serial I've watched. Even though the storyline is quite silly, Sammi acted really well in the show. For those who do not know about the show and like Sammi, gosh, you MUST rent it somewhere. Sammi acts as a pair of Twins, Piao Xue and Piao Hong (hehe!). Piao Xue is gentle, demure and ladylike. Piao Hong, on the other hand, is a tomboy, violent and totally rude and chor lor (Hokkien). Sammi manages to act magnificently in such different characters. Isn't she talented? This serial was shown on March to May'98, every Monday and Tuesday night from 11pm-12am. It was kind of late. Nevertheless, I just cannot miss an episode! Even getting deep eye bags the next day was WORTH IT all! And please! The Theme Song of the show is just Killing Me Tenderly!!
