What is Ranma 1/2?

Ranma 1/2 is an anime comic written by Rumiko Takahashi that explores the teenage life surrounding Ranma Saotome. In addition to being a young martial artist, Ranma has to deal with multiple fiancees, rivals out to get him, a curse that changes him into a girl, and Akane's cooking! Can you imagine the horror of having to deal with Akane's cooking?! Of all the worst.. *gets smacked by Akane* ..okay, let's move on. As I mentioned before, Ranma has a curse that changes him into a girl. Basically whenever he's splashed with cold water he'll change into a girl. Luckily for him this process is reversable with hot water. Since Ranma is half boy and half girl, that's where the name of the anime "Ranma 1/2" comes from.

How do you make a great anime better? Just add water!

This is especially true with Ranma 1/2. Not only is Ranma cursed but so are four other characters. His father changes into a panda, Ryoga changes into a piglet, Shampoo changes into a cat, and Mousse changes into a duck. Although these form changes cause some confused expressions from bystanders, Ranma and his cursed form always seem to end up in the most embarassing situations. Sometimes he'll be caught in a dress, sometimes he'll get kissed by a guy. Although he doesn't completely hate his female form (there are some benefits to being a girl) he really doesn't like the guys who chase after him.
