Lochivnar

O, young Lochinvar is come out of the west,
Through all the wide border his motorcycle was the best,
And save his good pair of guns he weapons he had none;
He rode all unarmed, and he rode all alone.
So faithful in love, and so dauntless in war,
There never was a man like the young Lochinvar.

Lochivnar was on his Harley for a full day and nearly a full night. He wouldn't have stopped for neither a meal or rest but only to pause for petrol when needed. Soon, he reached the Eske river where the only mode of transportation across it was a ferry. He boarded and as he was impatiently waiting on board to reach the other side, he thought of his love, Allen. Beautiful Allen so handsome and gentle. So patient, caring, loving and passionate. How he loves him! But now Allen was to marry Lord Forster's sister, that slip of a girl who Lochivnar had seen kept looking at his Allen during those parties he was rarely invited to. Lochivnar had heard that she was enamoured by another lord's son by the name of Simon but rumour has it that the rich fox-eyed businessman has a more-than-friendly relationship with his red-haired business partner.
Lochivnar felt pity for the girl and guessed that her closeness towards Allen was of a sisterly nature but when she picked Allen to wed her among all the eligible men in the Netherby clan, Lochivnar was furious.

Once the ferry reached the port, he instantly rode off towards Netherby mansion. Reaching there he boldly entered the hall, ignoring the looks and stares by bridegroom's-men and kinsmen; brothers and all. He came upon young Lady Anna to stake his claim on Allen but since she looked the type to faint easily he faced the bridegroom's father instead.

The lord upon seeing Lochivnar uninvited placed his hand on his gun meaningfully and spoke,
"O come ye in peace, or come ye in war,
Or to dance at our bridal, young lord Lochivnar?"

Lochivnar gave a slow smile before answering in a dangerous tone,
"I long wooed your son, my suit you denied;
Love swells like the Solway, but ebbs like its tide;
And now I am come, with this last love of mine,
To lead but one measure, drink one cup of wine.
There are maidens in Scotland more lovely by far,
That would gladly be bride to the young Lochivnar."

After his speech he walked up toward the bridegroom and stood in front of him, waiting. Allen's expression showed amazement but then he smiled. Taking a goblet of wine from a nearby waiter the spectacled young man kissed it before handing it over to his love. Lochivnar smiled back and took up the goblet, his fingers taking the chance to brush against Allen's, making the bridegroom blush.
Lochivnar quaffed up the wine and threw down the cup and then taking Allen's hands in his, he said, "Now a tread we a measure!"

Even amidst the uproar by the bride's brother and bridegroom's parents, some people couldn't but agree that they had never seen such a lovely couple daring to show their love to others that it seemed sinful to break them apart. Ignoring the swooning bride, the best-man whispered to his kinsmen,
"'Twere better by far
To have matched our fair cousin with Young Lochivnar."

With one touch to his hand and one word in his ear, Lochivnar led Allen quickly towards the hall door where his Harley was parked near. Pulling the ex-bridegroom to sit behind him, he raced the engine and they rode away before anyone could catch up to them.

"He is won! We are gone, over bank, bush and scaur! They'll have hundreds of people that follow," quoth young Lochivnar.

There was mounting 'mong the Graemes of the Netherby clan;
Forsters, Fenwicks, and Musgraves, they rode and they ran;
There was racing and chasing on Cannobie Lee,
But the lost bridegroom of Netherby ne'er did they see.

So daring in love, and so dauntless in war,
Have ye e'er heard of gallant like young Lochivnar?

~The End~

This one is taken from the poem 'Lochivnar'. Its an old poem but I changed it to fit Mitsui & Kogure and instead of riding steeds the men rode cars or motorcycles and instead of using swords, here they use guns. I guess I'm following the moderned version of Romeo and Juliet ^-^

In the real poem:

1. Allen was actually Ellen, a woman. Million thanks to Feng who suggested this name for me ^^

2. Ellen's bridegroom-to-be didn't have a name so I hand-picked the Forsters family for easier understanding.

3.There was no Simon but Ellen's bridegroom was, I quote from the poem, "...a laggard in love, and a dastard in war..." (Not that I'm saying Haruko is ^^;; She's a sweet girl)
