Haruko breathed in the warm fresh air of the afternoon, relishing the fact that school was over for the week. She and her friends have parted ways after leaving the school gates and she was now enjoying a peaceful walk back home alone, her bag under her arm. Humming a familiar 'ore wa tensai' tune, her legs began to walk faster, her steps taking in the cheerful rythm of the song. Remembering the redhead made Haruko wonder if she could persuade the boy to accompany her for a quiet stroll later after she change out of her uniform. She has heard that the basketball team has taken a day off practice today after their match with Shoyo the day before. A well-deserved rest, Haruko thought, but surely, Sakuragi-kun would not mind going out for just a moment to enjoy that beautiful afternoon with her.
As Haruko passed by a park she knew that it would be one of those spots to enjoy a quiet moment time with a friend. The trees in the park, as much as she could see and remember, were full of lush green leaves and with it being summer, the foliage was able to keep the heat from the soft grassy ground. It was a wide park and the deeper one goes in, the temperature gets cooler as trees were more frequent in there than the outer part of the park.
Lovely, thought Haruko. But what would be lovelier still was if a certain dark-haired ace player was with her as well. She blushed before shaking her head at the folliness of her thoughts.
Haruko was about to head away from the park back to the path that would lead her straight home when she saw someone laying down on the green grass under a tree far away from her. No, two people. With white summer school uniforms and one of them has ... red hair? Sakuragi-kun?
A smile spread across her pretty face as Haruko started jogging towards her friend. She guessed that one of them might be Yohei because of the black hair but when she was only a few feet away from them, she stopped.
Haruko's jaw slackened when she realised who the other person was. Rukawa-kun?!
Haruko was wide eyed with surprise. Both of the boys were asleep. It was not because that the raven-haired boy was also asleep like the redhead but it was more on the fact that they were sleeping close together that amazed her. Whenever the wind plays around with the leaves, sunlight which managed to filter through the trees danced around Sakuragi and Rukawa's form and also on the boys' bags which were laying on the ground not far away from them.
Maybe they did not realise this, thought Haruko, sincerely hoping that the two would not go pounding on each other when they woke up.
Haruko blinked. What ... happened? I always see them fight and here they are peacefully sleeping side by side as if its the most natural thing in the world.
"I don't think I should bother Sakuragi-kun's rest today," Haruko smiled, before she turned around, and walked quietly away.
**The End**
Rukawa was on his back, his head turned to the side while Sakuragi lay on his side, perpendicular to the brunette with his back to Rukawa. The point of contact was their heads, the top of Sakuragi's head close to brunette's turned face that it looked as if the fox-eyed boy was kissing the red flaming hair with his slightly parted lips.
Suddenly, a stray red hair blown by a soft breeze tickled the raven-haired boy under the nose, making the boy twitch his nose in annoyance. Haruko took a deep breath, fearfully waiting for Rukawa to wake up and punch the redhead in for disturbing his sleep, as he was wont to do.
But instead Rukawa rolled to his side, his eyes still closed as he reached up to blindly tame the red hair down with his hand and continue sleeping, his chin on the Sakuragi's head.
The young girl scratched her head in a confused manner. I guess I am clueless as my friends always say I am, she mused. Her face softened as she took in the sight of her bestfriend and her crush together in a state she had never thought was possible. It was definitely a sight to cherish.
