The Beginning

WARNING!!--STRONG MALE TO MALE SEXUAL IMPLICATIONS!! (strong lime but not lemon)

"Oh God!!"

Rukawa bit his lip hard, his hips pistoning to a frantic rhythm as he pushed himself deeper into Hanamichi's body. Broad hands clutched at his shoulders, digging groves into Rukawa's flesh with strong fingers.

Sweated beaded on both bodies as the rhythm of their love escalated to fevered beat. Teeth clenched, Rukawa threw his head back and let out a scream of pure ecstacy as he reached the pinnacle of his deeply felt release.
A mingled sound of a groan and a whimper escaped Hanamichi as he felt the warmth of Rukawa's climax withing him, triggering his own. Muscles spasming gratefully in gratification, his body slowly relaxed and his tight grip on Rukawa slackened.

Heavy pants were the only sound in the room for quite a few minutes before Rukawa rolled off of Hanamichi to lie beside him.

Rukawa and Hanamichi just stared at the ceiling, sweat cooling their flushed skin.

Closing his eyes and taking a deep breath, Hanamichi inquired quietly,
"Why did we do that? We...we hate each other, don't we?"

Rukawa licked his suddenly dry lips and turned his head to look at the boy beside him, whose eyes were still focused above him.

"That wasn't the act of people hating each other....Hanamichi.", Rukawa responded just as quietly, hesitantly daring to speak Hanamichi's given name.

Hanamichi closed his eyes again, apparently deliberating on his answer. Rukawa lay back down in expectation, not bothering to review the atmosphere with his eyes. He had seen their locker room time and time again and did not need to tear away his regard of someone he felt he was just really seeing for the first time.

He had hidden away his feelings for Hanamichi for a long time, sheltering it away in shadows from the eyes of those who knew him and himself. Yet, the line between hate and love had blurred somehow and he was now in the throes of the most powerful, undeniable feelings he had ever felt.

One now being anxiety in the face of Hanamichi's unusual silence.

Reaching out a tentative hand, Rukawa brushed his fingers across Hanamichi's cheek, uttering his name with tenderness. Brown eyes popped open, bewildered with the gentle caress.

Sitting up and displacing Rukawa's hand, Hanamichi's gaze darted into a far off corner of the locker room.

"You don't hate me then?"

Rukawa was sure that Hanamichi was simply feeling insecure at having lost his sexual innocence and moved closer to him. Bringing his lips close to his love's ear, he whispered,
"I would never make love to someone I hated....Hanamichi."

"Sex."

Startled blue eyes blinked and widned marginally as Hanamichi abruptly moved away from him and regarded him stoically.

"What?" the ebony-haired boy asked, as he gazed at his lover curiously.

Pressing his lips together, Hanamichi continued, "I don't think you should pretend this was making love, Kitsune. I know you don't love me and that term is used only for those who are in love with one another. Don't you dare pretend with me."

Genuine surprise at the words allowed the emotion to show on his face. As he thought of his answer, he couldn't suppress a feeling of foreboding.

Shaking his head, he intoned seriously, "I'm not pretending. I would never make love to someone I didn't care about.", stressing on the sweeter phrasing of their actions purposely.

Hanamichi shook his head, red locks shading his eyes as he stood up.
"You know who I love, Kitsune."

A dark sense of foreshadowing shook at Rukawa's increasingly vulnerable heart.
He knew what was coming but a mantra of "Don't say it. Don't say it." chorused through him heedlessly.

"Hanamichi, don't. I lov-"

"I love Haruko.", broke in Hanamichi, turning away to face the opposing wall. His arms came to hug himself, almost consoling himself for the "sex" he had just shared with someone other than his heart's true desire.

Crack.

A piece of Rukawa's heart fluttered away and then another and another. Hanamichi's words wove its way brutally through him and touched the core of his heart. The simple words prodded at him and left him aching, bleeding, wishing for a balm to his pain.

Closing his eyes, his face twisting in pain, he denied Hanamichi's words.
"You don't, Hanamichi. You....your heart belongs to me..."
His words became barely audible as he continued, "...it has too..."

Rukawa opened his eyes as he felt hands lay upon his shoulders and Hanamichi, crouching in front of him, looked back at him solemnly with new understanding.

"You love me."

Saying not a word, Rukawa knew his countenance could more than convey what he felt.

Hanamichi nodded once.
"Sou ka."

Placing his hands atop Rukawa's, he pulled the boy up to stand with him.
Rukawa looked up at Hanamichi and licked his dry lips again, not knowing what was going through the mind of the one he loved but desperately needing to know.

"...so...what happens now?", Rukawa asked reluctantly, knowing Hanamichi enough to hear the words he would rather have left unsaid and unheard of.

For a treasured moment, Hanamichi let his palm rest against Rukawa's face affectionately before it dropped back to his side.

"Now, we wait and see. I can't promise you forever and I don't expect you to wait...Kaede. My feelings are jumbled right now. But I don't...make love...to just anyone either....so.....", Hanamichi trailed off, letting Rukawa come to his own conclusions.

Rukawa inhaled deeply, trying to accept what was happening though it was difficult. Not quite succeeding, he nodded despite himself and raised his head to kiss Hanamichi lightly across his pink lips.

Thoughtful blue eyes and a small yet courageous smile for the future graced Rukawa's face as touched his fingers to Hanamichi's slightly parted mouth.

"Let's go home."
