You Are My Only Love
Jupiter was singing softly to the way back to her chamber. Her mind wasn’t at the singing but at Nephrite.
“Neph-chan,” Jupiter called.
“Hmm?” Nephrite was lying on the grass with his head on Jupiter’s lap as Jupiter leaned against the tree.
“I want to tell you something. About Shino-chan,” Jupiter hesitated. Nephrite’s attention immediately to Jupiter.
“Shino-chan?” Nephrite looked at her. Jupiter looked at him and nodded. She loved him so much. Jupiter took her hand and played his hair.
“His name is Shinosaki. He was once a Silver Millenium people. We met and … and…,”
“And what?” Nephrite quickly got up.
“And we… fall in love,” Jupiter looked away.
“You already have lover?” Nephrite looked hurt. He wanted to be her first one not the second.
“No! He wasn’t my lover! We never did anything!” Jupiter said to him. She looked at him as his reaction change.
“Never?” Nephrite asked her, uncertain.
“Never,” Nephrite was relieved. He reached for her. Jupiter felt safe as his arms surrounded her protectively.
“I want to be your first for everything,” Nephrite whispered to her.
“You always be my first, Neph-chan,” Jupiter replied to him as she closed her eyes.
“Earth to Jupiter,” Venus said for three times. Jupiter quickly woke up from her daydreaming.
“Venus? What are you doing here in my room?” Jupiter asked her confusedly.
“I’ve been here for three minutes busy talking to you and you heard nothing?” Venus rolled her eyes.
“Where have you been? Callisto Moon?” Venus teased her. “Hmm… Maybe at Nephrite,” Venus enjoyed to see Jupiter face blushing.
“Cut it out,” Jupiter threw a pillow at her. “What do you want to see me about anyway,” Jupiter changed the subject.
“It is about Kunzite,” Venus said softly. Jupiter smiled knowingly.
“We’ve been here for three weeks and the whole time I was with Kunzite. I begin…to…you know,” Venus’s face was turning into bright red.
“Love him?” Jupiter helped her. Venus nodded slowly.
“The problem is I don’t know if he love me too. We only have a week left and I don’t want to leave Earth with unsolved question. I need to know if he do or don’t love me,” Venus looked her friend.
“Venus, Nephrite confessed to me that he love me,” Venus looked at her, surprised. Jupiter blushed slightly as nodded her head.
“I was surprised too. You see the point is between you and Kunzite, someone has to speak up first. I was lucky that Nephrite started it. I think that Kunzite feels the same to you but maybe he likes you, afraid to admit it. Think Venus, you told him or you will live with a question, maybe he loves me, or, maybe if I told him…,” Jupiter said to Venus gently.
“But I was afraid. What if he said no?” Venus looked worried.
“At least you know the answer. If you keep the secret with you, your live will full of questions that only he can answer,” Jupiter placed her hand to her friend shoulder.
“You’re right. I’m going to tell him… now. Thanks Jupiter,” Venus stood up. She marched out and went to Kunzite’s chamber. Venus walked slowly. The nearer she went, more nervous she felt. She just wanted to get over with. Calm down. Tell him and you’ll feel relieved. No matter what answer you’ll receive, just take it. Venus calmed herself down.
Venus knocked Kunzite’s door chamber. After a while, the door was open and the face that Venus wanted to see appeared. Venus heart was pounding hard.
Venus smiled at him nervously,” May I come in?”
“Sure, come in,” Kunzite stepped aside. Venus walked in slow and hesitated. She turned to face him.
“Have a seat,” They both seated facing each other. Silence surrounds them for a few minutes.
“Well?” Kunzite raised his eyebrow.
“Kunzite, I’ve been wanting to tell you this and I think this is the best timing,” Kunzite looked at her. Venus quickly lowered her eyes.
“What do you want to talk about?” Kunzite asked her after a long silent. Venus could feel that her nerve has leaving her. She was afraid. So afraid to admit. Not knowing what to do she stand up and walked towards the door. I was so stupid. I feel like an idiot. Maybe I am. This so humiliating. Venus closed her eyes and tried to hold her tears back. But she failed. Kunzite was dumbfounded by her reaction. He saw a tear fell down to her cheek. He felt his heart was torn. He wanted to hold her and comfort her but he wouldn’t dare.
“Venus what’s wrong?” Kunzite stood up behind her.
“Nothing’s wrong,” Venus wiped her tears.
“I know something is very wrong. Why are you crying?” Kunzite looked concern
“I’m not crying,”
“And I’m not an idiot. Tell me what wrong, please,” Kunzite almost pleaded to her.
“NOTHING IS WRONG!!! CAN’T YOU UNDERSTAND?!” Venus snapped at him. Kunzite was shocked. They both looked at each other for a long time.
“I’m sorry, I really are,” Venus turned her back and ran to the door. Kunzite was too fast for her. He caught her waist from behind and whispered,” I’m sorry too. This… I didn’t mean to push you like that. If you don’t want to tell me, that’s alright,” Venus looked away. Some part of her wanted to tell him and some part of her told her to leave.
“I… I…I don’t know. Maybe it wasn’t a good time,” Venus looked down.
“I’ll always be there for you,” Kunzite whispered from back.
“Why? Why are so concern about me?” Venus looked back at him. Kunzite looked hesitate…and nervous. Venus waited for him.
“Because…Because I love you. I love so much, Verineria,” Kunzite whispered to her ear. Venus heart was beating quick and hard. She can’t believe it. I thought he concern about me because he’s pity at me. Because of my mother. And he even used my real name. I haven’t use that name for almost 800 years.
Venus turned back to face him. She put her arms around him,” That’s what I’m trying to tell you just now and I’m going to say it to you. Kunzite, I love you so much,” Words are unnecessary to her as she saw the love in his eyes. Kunzite put his arms around her waist and pulled her closer. He lowered his lips to hers. Never he felt this happy since forever.

“Venus!” Venus turned around. The only thing she saw was Jupiter calling her.
“So?” Jupiter asked her. But when Jupiter saw her blushing face, she knew immediately the answer.
“That great!” Jupiter was truly happy for her. Then Jupiter happy face turned into mischievous. “Guess what I saw in the study room?”
“That small room? What?” Venus said eagerly. Jupiter looked around to see if anyone there.
“Serenity and Endymion is kissing!” Jupiter exclaimed. Venus’s eyes were wide open.
“Oh my god! You got to be kidding!” Venus was surprise. They both looked at each other for a while and burst out laughing. At that time Mercury was coming towards them. Her face was red. Jupiter cannot tell if it was her anger or she was blushing hard.
“Hi Mercury. What’s wrong?” Venus asked her cheerfully.
“None of your business!” Mercury snapped at them and walked away. They both looked at each other in confusion.
“Um…did I said wrong?” Venus asked Jupiter. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Mercury didn't understand. She really, really didn't understand. She slammed her door chamber and sat roughly on her bed. She covered her face and cried quietly. Why? Why must Zoisite say that? Why must he said he love me? I can’t accept his love. I can’t accept anyone’s love. Not now, not ever. I never believe in love. Love is something that never lasts forever. Even though she denied it, she had this strange feeling. Something likes yearning to touch him, always want to be with him and… to love him. No! I don’t love him. I shall never ever love him. I don’t to end up like …mother.
Young Mercury was sitting behind the door. She covered her ears as their parents have another endless argument. Suddenly it became quiet. Young Mercury thought it was over so she released her ears. She stood up and opened the door to take a peak. Young Mercury gasped as she saw her mother was lying on the floor. Young Mercury ran towards her mother. As she reached for her mother, her father was looking at her with his cold eyes but all Young Mercury saw was her mother’s corpse. Judging by her bruise neck, she knew that her father strangled his wife neck. Its too late for tears as her mother will never wake up again.
“Mom said she loved him and Dad loved her too. But why did Dad kill Mom? I don’t want to end up like her,” Mercury whispered. Suddenly she heard her door chamber was been knocked.
“Mercury?” Zoisite called her softly. The voice that always made her heart pounding hard. She wanted to open the door and told him how much she love him but instead,
“Go away, Zoisite,” Her voice was trembling.
“Mercury, please. I’m sorry. Maybe this is not a good time to talk about love but…” Ziosite lost his words. Mercury can’t take it anymore she ran to the door and opened it wide.
“I promised to myself that I shall never ever fall in love. I even told myself not believe in love. Love gives us a false hope. I act like love doesn’t exist in my life. Why? Because I don’t want what happened to my mother, happen to me. Men are all the same. First they said they love her then they want to get rid of her by killing her. It happened to my mother once and it is not going to happen to me. Ever,” Mercury burst out.
Zoisite was dumfounded by her outburst,” I…I’m sorry,” he said after a few seconds. He didn’t know what to do. One part of him wanted to stay and convinced her and one part of him wanted to leave in humiliating. He slowly stood up and walked to the door. Mercury opened her mouth to call him but then she closed it, feeling hesitated. So she stood there until Zoisite walked out from his room. Her cheeks were wet with tears. She wanted to ran out and tell him how much she loved him and yet she wouldn’t dare.
Mercury sat on her sofa. Her face was buried inside of her hands. She was confused. She really, really didn’t know what to do. What’s wrong with me? I never felt this way before. Mercury’s thought was shattered away as she heard her door had been knocked. She wiped away the tears and straightened her dress. She smiled in front of the mirror for the last time.
“Hi Jupiter,” Mercury tried to sound cheerful and she failed as she saw Jupiter’s face was frowning. “What?” Jupiter couldn’t believe it. She can still pretend nothing happened after she shouted like mad to Zoisite earlier?
“I heard it,” The short and simple sentence that make Mercury face changed. At first she looked angry after a while she gave up. Mercury sat on her sofa with a deep sigh.
“Everything?”
“Everything,” Jupiter sat down beside her. Her face showed a familiar concern. Mercury recognized it very well. “Why you hide you past from us?”
“Is the past very important?” Mercury looked down.
“No but if you tell us maybe…”
“Maybe what?! That you can bring my mother into life back. That you can change my life? No! It doesn’t matter what past looked like. What matter is, now,”
“Then why didn’t you give Zoisite a chance?” Jupiter said calmly. Mercury was dumbfounded. She was speechless.
“You see Mercury, it was yourself who told that past wasn’t important. Then why did you reject him using your past as an excuse?” Mercury looked away.
“Do you love him?” Mercury looked hesitated. After a few seconds, she nodded.
“I’m afraid, I guess,” Mercury finally opened her mouth.
“Of what?”
“Of what happened to my mother would happen to me. I can’t imagine having a life without Zoisite,” Mercury said softly.
“And you think you can live on without him?”
“It is easier than live by his hatred,” Tears were already falling.
“You never give him a chance,” Jupiter continued. “Not all men were like your father. Every man is different from each other. I believe that if you give a chance, he’ll be delight. Go tell him or you’ll live in contrition,” Jupiter stood up and left Mercury alone.
Oh god, I really don’t know what to do. Do you want to live in contrition Mercury? No! I don’t want. If not, tell him how much love him. I…can’t. Why not? I…don’t know. Tell him Mercury. Tell him. Ugh. I want to but I don’t know how. Kiss him and he’ll know. Really?
“Okay,” Mercury walked out and ran to Zoisite’s chamber. She was out of breath when she arrived. Here’s go nothing. She knocked his door.
“I DON’T WANT…..” Zoisite shouted as soon as he opened the door. Mercury was shocked. Part of her wanted to laugh. “Mercury! I…I,” To his surprised, Mercury hugged him and kissed him. Zoisite returned hers by hugging her back.
Mercury broke the kiss and whispered,” I’m sorry. God, I love you so much. I’m sorry. I am,” Zoisite smiled happily.
“I know. I knew it all along.”
