Now, the big finish! Part 5 of "How to MST" Now that you've finished your riffing, you just have to write the final host segment, the post-MSTing notes, the credits, and you're finished! To make a good final host segment, you must have the characters resolve something. Wether it be something that was lingering from the first host-segment, something that bothered them about the fic, or even something that you introduce in the final host segment. After they've found some way out of thst, you must have the Mads call them up for the final observations. When the camera switches from the Satellite (or wherever) to the Mads, have them having a problem with something in the area, perhaps something went wrond from their invention, or maybe some gangster came and mostly killed them. In any case, have them skewered on their own petard! To end the final observations, have the lead Mad say to his assistant, "push the button," add in a *Blip* and a *Fwoosh*, and you're finished! Now, all you need is the final notes: > Thanks for readin my MSTing all the way through. I hope you enjoyed it. I'd like >to thank (so-and-so) for helping out. See you next MSTing! If you want, list some of your favorite sites, page name, address, and description. Then, put the final credits, which is pretty much the same as the opening credits, >Original story by: >(so-and-so) > >MSTing by: >(Your name) > >MST3K produced by: >Best Brains > >MST3K created by: >Joel Hodgson Then, add the line, "Keep those fanfics circulating!". Finally, you have to put a "stinger". The stinger from a fic is the line that you thought was the best part of the fic, as a MSTer. An example of a stinger comes from "the Rangers of Nimh". >> The Ranger's where flowing a leaded of break-ins. This statement was obviously the dumbest, most idiotic thing said in the whole course of the fic! It characterizes the quality of the fic, and gives someone who is just glancing through a view into what the MSTer had to endure. Anyway, that's all there is to writing a MSTing. If you follow the steps here, you should have a good start on MSTings. But don't forget the most important thing about writing anything: Spell-check/grammar-check. The computer knows better than you do a lot of the time. If it catches something from the actual fic, just tell it to ignore the darned thing! You shouldn't get caught making grammar error/ spelling mistake riffs if you make those very same mistakes yourself. Well, that's it for this edition of Self-Help America! Hope you've enjoyed it, and have learned seomething, and have hopefully stayed with me the whole time.
