Well, that's a little suggestive, isn't it? Suffice it to say, that's the closest these two ever get to showing us their true feelings, at least in the anime. And yes, I know they're only teasing Kazuya, but... I'm getting ahead of myself. Let me start over.

Here is Greenwood (or Koko wa Greenwood, if you prefer) is the story of a young boy's adventures in one of the weirdest boy's dorms I've ever seen. I first saw it way back in my just-beyond Sailor Moon days; it was one of the first few shôjo titles I had ever seen. I fell in love with it immediately! It's smart, funny to the point of almost-spastic, and full of cute guys. I know, I know, I'm a sucker for bish. The thing I remembered most about it, though, was the wonderful, heart-pounding "almost kiss" in Volume 1. Yes, those two sly, sneaky bishônen Mitsuru and Shinobu decided to play a little "trick" on the main boy, Kazuya Hasukawa, by making him think they were lovers. (For more on Kazuya, check out the Sub-Temple of the Straight Man) Sure, it only lasted a moment, but for a girl just aching for anything remotely shônen ai, it was a torturous heaven. I waited and waited, but nothing came of it. Then, I got Volume 2, and with it, the Misako episode. That damn little ghost girl drove me crazy! I had to tolerate her for a whole half-hour! And what did I get for it? Nothing! They sure like to taunt me with that little "possess Shinobu and have him kiss Mitsuru" thing. Those bastards. Anyway, enough of me bitching. Let's get to the meat of it: why the heck are these two on my Sacred Couples page?

A number of people have already declared their reasons for why they believe/support Mitsuru and Shinobu as a couple. Far be it for me to repeat it all. For the curious, check out The Ambiguously Yaoi Duo and Chaos Central: Mitsuru and Shinobu. I'm also a follower of this school of thought. Actually, I'm the Official PR Person for the Shônen Ai Campaign. The way these two act together is adorable. They plot together and look out for each other and do just about everything together. Beyond all the more obvious evidence, my heart goes for the subtle. Watch (or rewatch) the series and pay close attention to the two of them. The looks they give each other are more than enough proof for me. Shinobu seems pretty damn annoyed with Misako, doesn't he? Especially when she's trying to sleep with Mitsuru. And how about they way Shinobu talks about Mitsuru's childhood? And don't forget the very convincing look of affection they give each other during the almost-kiss. Add to this my theory on duets (almost always sung by lovers or couples, especially when they say things like, "forever our hearts/forever our bonds/forever our love affair/we will never be a apart." *giggles*), and I see a pretty convincing couple.

If not, they're at least completely adorable best friends. That's a bond that will never break. And so, "I'll make them yaoi if I want to make them yaoi!"
