This takes place after my Jupiter Knight series and isn't
in the Sailor Moon timeline by Naoko Takeuchi. Any resemblence
to anyone living or dead is purely coincidental. (Sorry, I
just HAD to say it. It's so fun to write!) If you want
to read Jupiter Knight, go ahead, then you'll have a better
background with this series. You can get Jupiter Knight
from wherever you found this, maybe. Okay, I'll stop babbling
now. Oh! One more thing, this is Jupiter based, for all you
Jupiter fans. What do you expect? I'm a Jupiter fan. NOW
I will shut up.
UNDER THE MYST
3: Follow Your Heart
Not Your Eyes
"What did you do?" Ken demanded, trying hard to break free
of the ropes cutting through his skin. He couldn't get free. The
ropes were too tight. He pulled harder, but it was making his
hands bleed.
"You can't get out of that. Stop trying." Loen said, in Ken's
voice.
"Let me go!" Ken kicked his feet, which were also tied to the
bed.
Loen smiled to himself. He loved watching people squirm like
that under his power. He threw a glance at the clock. It was almost
time. He should get going.
"I'd love to stay and watch you squirm, but I have some previous
engagements to attend to," Loen said in a teasing tone, "I have
to go have some fun with your girlfriend." Loen lifted off his
hood and smiled. Ken was staring at his own face, yet it was
Loen.
"NOOOOO!" Ken's yell could be heard through out the town.
Loen gave one last laugh and dissapeared out the door. Ken
tried with all his strength to try to pull out of the ropes, but
it was to no prevail. He could feel blood dripping from his wrists,
but that was not the pain. The pain was from his heart. From
the thought of Loen doing something to Lita. He tried to untie
the knot, but couldn't even come close to reaching it.
Suddenly, a swirl of myst surrounded the room. In the center
of the myst was a dark hole, almost like an opening to another
dimension. Ken tried to look into the hole, but it was too dark.
The most he could make out was a form, most likely a woman walking
toward the hole.
"If you're another one of Loen's friends, I'm gonna fry you
when I get out!" Ken threatened.
"Shhh.......I'm on your side......" A voice, almost like in a
dream floated toward Ken.
Ken recognized the voice, he had heard it somewhere. He knew
it was one of the scouts, but which one? Echos were distorting
the voice, giving it a dreamy tone.
"Who are you?" Ken asked.
A figure walked out, wearing a sailor fuku and carrying a giant
key. It was Sailor Pluto.
"Hello, Jupiter Knight," Sailor Pluto said, not caring for
the other name.
"Hurry, get me out of this!" Ken said.
Sailor Pluto frowned, she wasn't suppose to disturb the timespan,
yet this didn't seem right. She didn't know where Loen came from,
but she knew he wasn't from this time.
"What are you waiting for?" Ken yelled.
Sailor Pluto calmly walked to the bed, "I shouldn't be doing
this," she mumbled softly
"Sailor Pluto, please, you have to do it. Lita's in danger.
I just know it," Ken pleaded.
Sailor Pluto pointed the end of her time key at the bonds
at Ken's wrist and blasted them away. Ken immediately untied
the ropes at his feet. He stretched as he got off the bed.
"Where am I?" Ken asked, looking out the window. This didn't
look like Tokyo at all. There were no busy streets, not even the
sound of a horn. All he could see were a few houses and a train
stop.
"I've already interferred too much," Sailor Pluto said.
"But where is this place?"
"I shouldn't tell you."
Ken walked to the door and paused as he stepped past the
mirror. Gazing at him was not his reflection. That was not
him in the mirror, it couldn't be. Loen was staring back
at him. No, it wasn't Loen, it was Ken. But it was Loen.
"Loen switched bodies with you," Pluto simply stated swirling
the time key around, creating a foggy myst again.
"No, it can't be. He looks like me, and I look like him?" Ken
asked.
"Yes," and with that, Sailor Pluto dissapeared.
"Wait, where am I?" Ken shouted.
There was no answer. Ken looked again in the mirror, to check
it this was all a dream. No, it was flesh and blood. He even
pinched himself to see. He was wearing his own clothes, but
it wasn't him in it. It was Loen's body. Down to the gleaming
blonde hair, it was Loen.
"I'll go to the train stop and wait for the next train to
Tokyo, then I'll find Loen and make him pay." Ken thought
out logically.
Ken opened the front door and stepped out. He noticed he
was on the second floor of what looked like an inn. There were
several other rooms adjacent to his own. Then why didn't anyone
hear him yelling?
Ken was about to open the front door that led to the streets,
when a hand landed on his shoulder.
"Wait just a minute!" the person swung Ken around and glared
at him. "Do you think you can just leave and not pay what is
due?"
Ken was releaved it was not Loen. But still, the face was
unfriendly. "But I don't have the money," Ken started.
The man looked down at Ken's hands, then stepped back. Ken
looked at his own hands, which were still bleeding at the wrist.
"Hey, I'm sorry, you can leave. Don't mind me," the man said,
scared.
Ken turned and left. He was probably scary looking too. There
was blood on his sleaves and his hair was a mess. He probably
looked like an ax murderer.
The train stop was nearly deserted. As Ken walked to the
station, he saw a mother and her child walk as far away from his
as they could. He could almost hear the mother telling her child
not to look at him.
Thankful for the high counter that shielded his hands from
the man at the information center, Ken asked, "Does this
lead to Tokyo?"
The man looked up with a bored expression, "Ten minute ride.
Two dollars."
Ken realized he had no money. He didn't know how he could
get back without any money for train fair. He looked over
at the mother and child. They were staring at him. Ken started
to walk towards them, but they scurried away.
At the far corner, he could see a man in a business suit. He
didn't take notice to Ken. He was busy reading a paper. Ken
walked quietly to the man.
"Excuse me, um....Sir. Can you spare two dollars train
fair?" Ken asked politely.
The man out down his paper and looked at him disapprovingly.
He was about to say something until he glance at Ken's hands.
"Sure, just don't do anything to me," He handed Ken the money,
then walked swiftly away to the other side.
Ken gave the money at the ticket booth and took his ticket.
Five more minutes until the next train came. Ken didn't think
he could wait that long.
* * * * * *
Darien parked infront of Ken's house. He looked at Lita in
the rear view mirror. She looked like a nervous wreck. "Do
you want us to go with you?" he asked.
"No, I'm sure he's home. I'll be right out." Lita didn't
sound very sure. She jumped out of the car and bolted to
the front door. She wrung the bell.
At first, no one answered. Just as she was about to ring it
again, the door opened. Lita looked and couldn't believe it.
Ken was there.
"Ken! You're okay!" Lita jumped up to hug him. Ken didn't
hug her back.
Lita let go and looked at him. There was something wrong, but
she couldn't place her finger on it. "Kennie, what's wrong?"
Ken led her in the house to the living room. He took a
seat on the couch, but didn't offer her a seat.
"Where did you go after the park?" Lita asked, "I was
worried."
"I wanted to go home, so I did." Ken simply stated.
"Why didn't you tell us?"
"I don't have to tell you everything I do."
Lita was taken back. This wasn't like Ken. Maybe Loen
was nearby and this was just an act. She looked around
the room.
Ken grinned, "Loen isn't even close to here. Actually,
I just don't like you anymore. You bore me."
"What?" Lita asked, not trusting her ears.
"You heard me. I don't even want to see you. You
are such a bore to me. Why don't you get out of my house, I
don't even want to look at you." Ken stood up and opened the
front door.
Lita just stood there, staring at him. Had she heard right?
Did he actually say what she thought.
"Go on, you're not wanted here." Ken indicated the door.
"Are you sure, Kennie?" Lita asked, feeling her voice shake.
"Leave or I will throw you out!"
Ken grinned evilly behind Lita's back.
Lita left quickly, feeling the tears sting her eyes. She heard
the door slam behind her. Without turning back, Lita stepped
into Darien's car.
"I saw him. Why didn't he tell us anything?" Serena asked,
unaware of the situation.
"He...he...." Lita couldn't continue. She broke down, crying.
Mina found Lita a tissue and comforted her. "What happened
Lita? Come on, I'm sure it's not something to cry about." She
wasn't use to seeing Lita cry so easily. But whenever Lita cried,
it was for someone else, never herself.
"Do you want to go home, Lita?" Serena asked.
Lita only nodded. Mina patted Lita's back, trying to stop
her crying. There was only so many tissues in a box, and
Lita was already using more than half.
"Lita, what did Ken do?" Mina asked again.
Lita stopped crying to utter one word, "Men!" She said
that in anger, not realizing Darien was one of them.
"Hey, don't judge us like. Most of us are good people," Darien
kidded.
"Sorry," Lita apologized.
"It's okay. I know you're confused right now. Even though
I don't know what Ken did to make you so mad. He's usually the
nicest guy I know."
Lita's eyes started to cloud over at the name. She could
still hear the past conversation echo through her head.
At the apartment, Lita sat down. She had convinced her friends
to leave. All she needed was some peace and quiet now. She needed
time to think things out. Did Ken really mean it? It looked like
he did, but why? Was he really sick of this fate thing and destiny?
Afterall, it was already written that they would be together for
eternity. Who was to say that they were going to love each other?
Lita loved him, but did it work the other way?
Lita looked at a painting on the wall. Ken had done it a year
ago. Not a lot of people knew that Ken was such a talented artist.
He didn't show a lot of people his work. Lita stared at it. He
could somehow capture motion in his paintings. He could capture
motion, emotion and even smells in his paintings.
The painting hanging on her wall was her favorite. It was
of her and Ken, when Lita was a toddler, Ken just a bit older.
They were at the park. It was when Lita was still with her parents.
Lita couldn't believe Ken could remeber such detail from a time
so far back. It reminded her of an incident, almost as if the
painting brought out the memory.
Lita remembered when she was small. Her parents and Ken's
parents were close friends. They were all at the park. The parents
were sitting on a bench, Lita and Ken were walking through the
tall grass. Lita had her butterfly net in one hand and thought
that she was going to catch a butterfly.
She spied a beautiful green one sitting on a blade of grass.
Lita dove for it and swung the net. She missed and the butterfly
fluttered off the grass to her hair. It landed on her head before
flying away. Lita had sat there pouting that she couldn't catch
one.
"Kennie, please catch one for me?" Lita asked Ken, who was
nearby looking at an ant hill.
"Why?" Ken asked, walking to her. Lita still remebered his
chubby legs. She had chubby limbs back then too.
"Cuz I wanna take it home. It's pretty!" Lita smiled.
Ken looked at her net and frowned, "If ya take it home, it's
not gonna look pretty. It only looks pretty if it's free."
Lita pouted some more, "Who said?"
"Mommy said so," Ken walked out toward a patch of daisies.
"I don't believe you," Lita called after him.
Ken picked something up and handed it to Lita. Lita took
it. It was a small daisy.
"Is this pretty?" Ken asked.
"Yes," Lita looked at the small flower.
"Well, if you keep it, I betcha it's going to turn ugly and
die." Ken said.
"Liar!" Lita kept it in her pocket.
In two days, the daisy wilted and died. Ken was right.
Lita was snapped back to the present when she heard the phone
ring. She picked up the phone.
"Hello?" she asked.
"Hello, Lita, this is Rei."
"Oh hi Rei. What's up?"
"You tell me. Serena told me what happened about Ken. Are you
alright?" Rei asked.
Lita sighed. Serena always had a big mouth. It was a
wonder how she could keep all this scout business on a down low.
"I'm okay. I just don't know what to do. Before, he told me
that he had to act like he hated me so that Loen wouldn't
notice anything between us. But I don't think he was acting
just then. I really think he was for real."
Lita heard Rei ruffle some paper on the other line, "Look
Lita, I don't know what's going on right now, but I do know one
thing. You and Ken will work it out. Just let time take
it's place."
"Maybe you're right," Lita said.
"Maybe I am. Well, I just wanted to check on you. I'll
let you do whatever you were doing now. Bye."
"Bye Rei. Thanks." Lita hung up.
The minute after Lita hung up, there was a knock on the
door. Lita put down the phone and walked to the front door.
Maybe it's Ken and he wants to apologize, thought Lita. She swung
open the door.
It wasn't Ken. It was Loen.
"You!" Lita gasped. She took out her transformation pen, ready
to use it.
"Wait," Loen put a hand up, as if to surrender.
"There is nothing to wait about! I'm going to fry you.
For what you did to Ken. You brain washed him or something!" Lita
shouted. "Jupiter Star Power!"
Lita transformed into Sailor Jupiter and got ready to
unleash the thunder dragon. She aimed, then noticed something.
Loen wasn't doing anything to block it. He just stood there
and stared at her.
"Why aren't you fighting me? You sissy! Come and
fight me! Come and get what you deserve!" Sailor Jupiter exclaimed.
"I'm not Loen," It was Ken, in the body of Loen.
"What?" Sailor Jupiter still couldn't understand it.
"I'm Ken."
"No you're not. You don't even sound like him!"
"I am."
"How stupid do you think I am?" Sailor Jupiter demanded.
"It's me. Lita, it's me. Kennie."
Sailor Jupiter let down her guard. It was Ken. He was
the only one who knew what she called him. He knew who she
was. "Is it really you, Kennie?"
This is a song, la la la la, Lita's song!
Guess you found my SECRET message!
"Yes, it is." It wasn't his voice, but her heart said it
was him inside.
Sailor Jupiter put her thunder away and transformed back
to her normal self. She walked into the living room, followed
by Ken. She indicated for him to sit down.
Ken sat down and watched Lita. She walked to the
cupboards for something, then came back with a first aid kit.
"Give me your hands," Lita said.
Ken put his injured wrists on the table. They had stopped
most of their bleeding. Lita bandaged it tightly and looked back
at him. It was him, but not in his own body. She was looking
at a total stranger.
"What happened?" Lita asked, putting his hand down.
"Well, I can't remeber, but I think he and I switched
bodies."
"You think?"
"I was knocked out, when I woke up, it was justl like
this," Ken explained.
Lita looked closer at him, "Your necklace."
"Huh?" Ken looked down, the necklace was there. That
weird necklace that started the whole thing. He tried to
touch it, but again, his hands stopped with pain.
"I bet Loen has one too," Lita thought, "Yes, he does!
I saw him with it. Oh I know. If we destroy both necklaces,
then the switch will be unswitched!"
"Wait, what do you mean you saw Loen with it?" Ken
asked.
Lita's eyes started to burn, "I went to your house to
see if you were okay. It was Loen, but I thought he was you. He
said that he didn't like me, and that I was a bore, and..." Lita
broke down crying.
"It's okay, don't even think about it, I'm here," Ken
held Lita who was shaking with sobs. She burried her face in
his warm chest, crying.
No, this doesn't feel right, Lita thought, it isn't
all Ken. This isn't Ken's body! Lita's body told her. She
was use to being in Ken's embrace. But, this was Loen's body.
It was different. Lita drew away and wiped away her tears.
"What?" Ken asked, startled that she drew away.
Lita leaned forward on the sofa and took a sip
of water, "It doesn't feel right. It feels weird. It's you,
but not all of you."
"I understand," Ken told her.
"Let's go tell Serena tomorrow. I think we should
get rid of Loen as fast as we could."
"Whatever you say."
"Why did Loen switch bodies with you?" Lita asked.
"I don't really know, except for what he told me. He
said he needed to get some sort of heart crystal, and it would
be easier in my body." Ken explained.
"Can you still transform?" Lita asked.
"No, I tried," Ken sighed.
"So he has your powers?"
"I guess, I don't really know." Ken yawned. He was pretty
tired. Waiting for the train and every thing.
"It's getting late," Lita said.
"I know, I better go," Ken got up.
Lita stopped him, "No, you can stay here."
"I can't when Loen finds me missing, he's going to look
for me. That will put you in danger."
Lita didn't let go of him, "Look, we're in this together.
You know that you can't go home. Where will you stay?"
"I can go to a hotel," Ken said defiantly.
"Not looking like that! It looks like you're a seriel
killer or something."
"Fine, I'll stay," Ken surrendered. She was right,
this was the only place to stay.
"You can sleep in the other bedroom. It might be kind
of stuffy in there. No one slept in there since..." Lita thought
about her parent's death.
"I know, you don't have to tell me." Ken put an arm
around her shoulder and squeezed it.
"Tomorrow is a school day, I better go to sleep or I'll
look like heck tommorrow." Lita said and went to brush her
teeth.
"Goodnight," Ken called out and walked to the other
room.
* * * * * * * * *
Lita slowly woke up. She still couldn't open her eyes, her
eyelids were too heavy. Why did she wake? Or was this a dream?
She could still tell it was night time. Depending on sound,
it wouldn't be sunlight for a couple of hours. Usually, birds
would chirp early in the morning, well before sunrise.
She could feel someone was in her room. She could feel the
body heat of someone else. She turned in her sleep and buried her
face deep into the pillow. She was either half awake or still dreaming.
She could feel something pulling the comforter back up her shoulders.
Lita still didn't open her eyes. She felt like she was in a myst,
everything was foggy. She could barely hear sounds.
Someone was brushing the hair off her face. Someone was
softly stroking her hair. Finally, Lita had the sense to open
her eyes. It was pitch black. Lita needed some time to
adjust her eyes.
"Wha-?" Lita mumbled sleepily.
"Shhh," Ken whispered.
Lita's eyes adjusted. She could see him kneeling on the floor
beside her bed, softly stroking her hair.
"How long have you been here?" Lita mumbled, the words
barely getting out.
Ken put a finger over her lips, "Shhh, go back to sleep."
Lita didn't protest she went back to sleep.
* * * * * * * * * *
When Lita woke up, Ken was gone. Was it all a dream? She
got up, mumbling something about too early to go to school. In
the bathroom, she finally noticed the smell of food. Someone was
cooking breakfast. Lita smiled when she realized who it was. She
lazily brushed her teeth and did the other stuff.
"Good morning!" Ken called cheerfully. He waved a spatula
at her, "I cooked ya breakfast!"
"Thanks," Lita thanked. She took a seat on the counter. She
was glad that for once, she didn't have to cook her own breakfast.
Ken brought two plates to Lita, one for her and one for herself.
It looked deliscious. Her mouth was already watering. She didn't
know Ken was such a good cook.
"Hey, this is really good!" Lita said with her mouth full.
"Thanks," Ken was busy stuffing his mouth with the pancakes.
"Where did you learn to cook like that?" Lita asked.
"I don't know, I just picked it up from my mom, I guess,"
Ken finsished off the rest of his pancakes.
Lita looked at the clock on the wall. If she didn't hurry,
she would be running into Serena on the way to school. That
was not good, since Serena was always late.
"I have to go to school. Are you going to be okay while
I'm gone?" Lita asked, gathering her stuff.
"Yeah, sure. I'll just watch some TV. I feel like doing
something normal for once." Ken took the two empty dishes
to the sink.
"Just leave them in the sink, I'll wash it when I get
back," Lita told him, stepping out the door.
"No, I'll do it. Bye."
Lita turned, "Bye, meet after school at Rei's place okay?"
"Sure. You better go or you'll be late." Ken shooed
her out the door.
Lita walked quickly to school, passing some other kids on
the way. When she reached her locker, she saw her friends
waiting for her.
"Is everything okay?" Serena first said. For once, she
was actually early.
"Yeah, sure. But there's something I have to tell you. About
the SS." (SS meaning Sailor Scouts.) Lita said in a low voice.
"Okay, we'll all meet after school at Rei's place." Ami decided.
"I'll talk to Mina about it." Serena offered.
"Hey, how did you get here so early?" Lita asked, surprised
that she had come after Serena.
"Luna woke me up and hour early. I'm so sleeeeeepyyyy!" Serena
groaned.
The first bell ring, signaling all the girls to go their
seperate ways into their classrooms. Lita got her books out of
her locker and made her way through the crowded hall to her
class. The teacher, as usual was late.
After about five minutes, the teacher finally came in and started
to drone on and on about history.
* * * * * * * * * * *
"Did you tell Ken to meet us here?" Rei asked from the mat
she was sitting on.
"Yeah, but there's something I have to tell you." Lita tried
to think of a good way to explain it.
"What is it?" Serena asked, putting Luna down.
Mina and Artemis both leaned closer, trying to catch every word.
"He changed," Lita told them.
"I'll say. Being mean to you like that!" Mina replied sharply.
"No, physically." Lita said. "He isn't Ken anymore, he
somehow got switched with Loen's body."
"So that means that the Ken I saw yesterday, was actually
Loen?" Serena asked.
"Yeah!" Lita was stunned at how fast Serena caught on.
"Oh! I get it. There is two people who look like Ken and
three who look like Loen!" Serena declared, thinking she got
the right answer.
"No! No! Loen and Ken switched bodies! Where did you get
that other idea from?" Rei told her.
"Oh, well. That was a good guess." Serena said.
"Uhhh!" The others hung their head in frustration.
"Well, okay. It was a weird guess." Serena admitted.
"Hmmm....." Luna seemed to be thinking.
"Luna, is there something you know?" Lita asked.
"Well, just bits and peices." Luna admitted, "Back in the
Moon Kingdom, there use to be these crystals. Sometimes amber
and sometimes another color, but they were usually amber. My
mind is making a connection with those and the body switching.
But I don't know anymore."
"Yes! Ken, the real Ken has a necklace holding this amber
crystal. I saw Loen with one too. But Ken can't take his off.
There's some sort of force surrounding it." Lita told them.
Artemis jumped up, "I remember! Those crystal's are very
rare. If you have two, you can do something very powerful with
them...." Everyone was at the edge of their seats. Artemis
went on, "You take one, and keep it with your body, like on a
piece of jewelry, preferably a necklace. With the other
crystal, you put it one the person you want to switch with. At
any time, you and only you can switch and reswitch bodies with
that person."
"So Ken could be Loen any second now?" Ami asked. She was
typing furiously on the computer.
"No, not like that. To switch and reswitched bodies, there
has to be physical contact." Artemis explained.
There was a long silence. Everyone nodded their heads,
taking it all in. They all jumped when a voice interupted them.
"Can I come in?" Ken asked.
He sounds so familiar! Rei thought.
I know that voice, Serena thought.
Ami looked up, I've heard that voice before. It does not
sound good, Ami thought.
Luna's mind was clicking away, I know that voice! Its.....
"Go ahead," Lita and Mina said at the same time.
Ken walked in, looking at three staring faces, slowly, Serena,
Ami, Rei and Luna's faces showed recognition. A bad kind.
"Jadite!" All three girls and a cat shouted at once.
******To be continued.....
What's going to happen next? Who is Jadite? Where did he come from?
