PAST LIVES 1
First Meeting
BY LADY JUPITER (LADYJUPITER@SAILORJUPITER.COM)
Makoto sipped her sweet tea, "Thank you for inviting
me, Usagi."
Usagi grinned, "Hey, I was bored and it's a Saturday."
Rei took a cookie from the plate, "How's your
studies, Usagi-chan?"
"Great! I'm doing well in all subjects," Usagi beamed.
"You would have to, considering you are the Moon
Princess and what a disgrace it would be if you failed in
any one of your subjects," Ami said.
"True," Usagi sighed.
"Any news on you lover-boy?" Minako asked, grinning
slyly.
"Endymion is NOT my lover boy." Usagi insisted.
"Then why are you drawing hearts in the sand
every time we mention him?" Makoto asked.
"He's such a gentleman," Usagi said as an answer.
"Yes, that's true. But he's too...I can't put
it into words....but he's not my type," Makoto said.
"Good, because he is mine!" Usagi said.
"I know now! He's too serious, kind of melo-dramatic,
or something like that!" Makoto said.
"He is not! He's just mature," Usagi came to a
defense.
Ami tried to change the subject, "Did Queen Serentiy
agree on letting Earth join our court?"
Usagi nodded, "Yes, mom said Earth would be a
good ally, in case we had to go into fight,"
Makoto checked her watch, "I think someone should
be here any minute to escort me back to Jupiter."
"Me too," Minako said.
"Your father doesn't let you go back by yourself?" Usagi
asked.
Makoto sighed, "No, he thinks just because I am his
daughter, Princess of Jupiter, that everyone in the whole
universe would want to kidnap me. I think he is sending
one of the maids today for me,"
Each of the girls were princesses of their own planets,
their fathers were kings of the planet, withthe exception of
Queen Serenity. They usually met here, on the moon on
Saturday and talk about the past week.
* * * * * * *
Shinosaki walked through the Moon Royal Gardens. Queen
Serenity told him this was where the Princesses were. King
Juptier had sent him to escort Princess Jupiter back. Shinosaki
was thrilled to have such an honor. He had just came back
from Knight training. He was with his father, who was still
having a meeting with King Jupiter, when the King asked
him to escort Princess Jupiter back.
Shinosaki rubbed his sore arms. He had been in training
ever since he had begun to walk. He enjoyed the physical
pain he got for working so hard. But not all of the Knight
training was physical, most of it was smarts. Learing battle
plans and such.
Today, he was wearing a white shirt with dark green
trimmings, dark green slacks and black boots. This was
what all the Knights wore during the casual time they had.
The Knights of Jupiter had green trimming, the Knights of
the other planets had different colored trimming. It was
like a code of planets.
He unconsiously reached up and shined one of his
badges of honor. It was a purple heart, awarded to him
for bravery. His father was most proud of that one.
"Where are they?" Shinosaki asked himself. He
looked around for the girls.
Although his father was a good friend of King
Jupiter, Shinosaki had never really seen Princess Jupiter.
There were rumors that she was graciously tall and moved
with the grace only a princess possesed. He had heard
all sorts of rumors that the princess was beautiful. He
also knew, for a fact that King Jupiter was very protective
of her. Hell, all the royalties were protective of their
princesses. Shinosaki was stunned that the King had
asked HIM to go escort Princess Jupiter back.
Shinosaki finally caught sight of five girls
sitting around a table, drinking tea. Even from far
away, he knew which one was Princess Jupiter. She was
wearing a light green silk dress that reached well past her
ankles, dragging on the floor. It had a modest neckline and
was taken in at the waist. It had long billowing sleeves.
He didn notice any thing much of the dress. What he did
notice was Princess Jupiter. The rumors were true, she
was beautiful, almost angelic.
Beauty was not what attracted Shinosaki to her. It
was more like some sort of force, a bond maybe. It was
like two magnets.
* * * * *
"Who is THAT?" Usagi asked, looking at Shinosaki.
The other Princesses all turned their heads at the
young man a distance away. They knew he was a Knight, but
he was too far away to see which planet he was from.
"He's cute," Minako said.
"He's dreamy," Rei sighed.
Ami looked at the young man, "He is a Knight
from Jupiter."
All of them turned to Makoto. Makoto just shrugged,
"I've never seen him before."
Luna, the royal cat walked up, "Princess Jupiter,
I believe he is your escort."
Makoto shook her head, "No way. This is all just
a dream. He is way too cute,"
The young man walked closer. He came to the table
and bowed, "Good morning, Princesses." He straightened
up.
"Good morning," Usagi answered.
The young man ran his hands through his chestnut
hair, "I'm Shinosaki. I'm here to escort Princess Jupiter
back."
Makoto held her hand up to shake Shinosaki's, "Hello
Shinosaki,"
Shinosaki, instead of shaking her hand, bent down and
kissed it, "Are you ready to go, Princess?"
"Just give me a minute. I'll meet you at the
entrance of the teleport room," Makoto said.
"Sure," Shinosaki started to walk to the teleport
room. Then turned to face the Princesses, "It was a pleasure."
He gave one more low bow and walked off.
"He's charming!" Minako squealed when Shinosaki
left.
"You are so lucky!" Rei said to Makoto.
Makoto finished off her tea and stood up, "Bye, I'll
see you guys next week."
"Bye, have fun!" Usagi said with a knowing look.
"Usagi! Don't give me that look!" Makoto laughed
and started walking to the teleport room.
When Makoto reached the teleport room, she saw Shinosaki
leaned up against a wall. He was so handsome, Makoto thought.
She couldn't beleive she had feelings for this guy she
just met.
"Princess," Shinosaki said and bowed again.
*He is such a gentleman!* Makoto thought. "Please,
call me Makoto. I hate being called Princess," she told
Shinosaki.
"Whatever you say, Princess," Shinosaki grinned a
teasing smile.
Makoto said in a mocked angry tone, "That's an order!"
Shinosaki reached into his pockets for somthing, "Do
you have your teleport key, Makoto?"
"Oh yes, right here." Makoto took off the key hanging
on a chain around her neck.
Shinosaki took it and stuck it into a key hole on the
control pad with his. Immediatly, two mirrors appeared. The
mirrors that would bring them back to Jupiter.
"Ready?" Shinosaki asked.
"Yes," Makoto said.
"Okay," Shinosaki pressed a large green button and stepped
back.
The mirrors started to flash. Makoto and Shinosaki ran into
the mirrors.
"We're here!" Shinosaki announced on the other side of the
mirror, whick was Jupiter's teleport room.
"That was quick," Makoto said.
"Quick, get the keys!" Shinosaki shouted.
Makoto looked at the key that were now on the control pad
in Jupiter. They were flashing, which meant if someone didn't
take them off the keyhole now, they would go back to the Moon.
"I got it!" Makoto ran to the control pad.
When she almost got there, she stepped on the long dress
she was wearing and tripped. Shinosaki jumped over her and dove
for the keys just in time. He grabbed them off the holes and
shut the mirrors off. Then he turned to Makoto and smiled.
"Careful, don't step on your dress," he said.
"Haha, you could have warned me earlier!" Makoto said as
she got up.
Shinosaki walked to her and offered a gloved hand. Makoto
took it and Shinosaki pulled her up.
"Thanks," Makoto said as Shinosaki handed her the teleport
key.
"My pleasure," Shinosaki said. He started to walk out of
the teleport room.
"Where are you going?" Makoto asked.
"Lunchtime. I'm hungry," Shinosaki said, "Jya ne!"
Makoto walked the other way, "Men!" Yet, she couldn't
help thinking of when she would see Shinosaki again.
"Mako! There you are!" Someone called out.
Mako turned around saw saw Kanee, one of her friends.
"Hi Kanee, were you looking for me?" Mako asked.
"Forever. I wanted to know what you were going to wear
to the ball tonight," Kanee said.
"The ball! I totally forgot about it! I don't know
how it could have slipped my mind. Oh no, how many hours
do I have before it starts?" Mako started to freak out.
"Don't worry, it starts at seven. That's plenty of time.
C'mon, I'll come and watch you pick something to wear." Kanee
said.
"Thanks, what are you wearing?" Mako asked.
"I'll show you later," Kanee said.
Kanee lived in the Jupiter Castle like Makoto. Even though
she was not royalty. Her mother was the advisor of Queen
Jupiter and also lived here. Over the years, Mako and Kanee
developed a friendship, not linked together by bonds of fate,
but more like sisterhood.
Mako opened her bedroom door, which was on the westside
of the castle. She let Kanee in and went straight to her
closet. She looked around for something interesting.
"How about this?" Mako asked and pulled out something
green.
Kanee looked at it. Green, short frilly sleaves, a long
skirt that flared, a big bow inback. Okay, but not interesting.
"Nah, it look dull. More like weekend wear," Kanee said.
"Yeah, looks too informal," Mako stuck it into the
closet and tried again.
Dress after dress, Mako pulled out, then rejected. Finally,
she found one she absolutely loved.
"That looks great!" Kanee explained.
"Doesn't it? I've never worn it before. It was partially
hidden inback of the closet," Mako said.
It was a pink satin dress. Kind of strapless, with a thin
pink ribbon that would hold the front of the dress up like a
necklace. The sleaves were barely attached, and were also
pink satin. They poofed out if worn properly. Like many other
of her dresses, this dress had an overly exagerated long hem
that reached a foot past the floor.
"Hey, it even has a pretty ribbon to go with it," Kanee
said, noticing a small pink ribbon hanging on the hanger.
"Yeah, I think it's for your hair," Mako fingered it.
"I'm hungry, let's go eat." Kanee said.
"Yes, I'm hungry too. Let's go." Mako agreed.
* * * * *
Makoto finished tying up her hair in it's regular style,
but this time with the pink ribbon. She arranged the
dress one last time and slipped into the matching pink shoes.
She spritzed on some of her favorite perfume and gave herself
one last look in the mirror.
By the time Makoto reached the top of the stairs that
led down to the large ballroom, she could tell the celebration
had already started. The band was playing and she could hear
people talking, mingling.
Makoto lifted her dress above the floor, careful not to
trip this time and walked down the stairs.
"There is my daughter! Always making an entrance," King
Jupiter laughed.
Makoto blushed at the attention, "Stop it dad, I'm sorry
I'm late," she smiled.
"Better late than never, I always say," King Jupiter
said.
Makoto made her way to the bottom of the steps, trying not
to notice the attention she was getting. Most of it were
from the young men, sons of the elite. There were many
middle class people here also. The ball was not restricted
to the elite.
An elderly gentleman walked over to Makoto, "So, Princess.
How are you?"
"Fine, thank you. And you?" Makoto recognized him as
Judge Miyake, a good friend of her father's. She also notice
that he still looked young, younger than his actual age. She
could imagine he was handsome when he was younger.
"Fine, fine. My son is around here somewhere. I hope you
two will have a chance to meet, talk tonight." Judge Miyake
said and walked to mingle with the others.
Makoto had heard Judge Miyake talk about introducing her
to his son before, many times acutally, but never actually
met him. Judge Miyake said it was because his son was in
some sort of training or something.
"Mako, over here." Kanee waved.
Mako walked over the Kanee and some of her friends. Mako
didn't know them that well, just well enough to say hello.
"Hello, Princess Jupiter." One of Kanee's friends said.
"Just call me Makoto, it okay." Mako offered a smiled.
"I've heard a lot of young men say they wanted to dance with
you tonight," Kanee whispered to Mako, "They're not bad,
actually. Some are even cute."
Mako laughed, "Kanee, you just love match-making don't you?"
"Yes, I admit that I do." Kanee agreed. "Did you see
this other guy? He is so dreamy. Judge Miyake's son I think.
I don't really know for sure. But he is so handsome in that suit.
From the discription, it probably is his son."
Kanee had also heard of Judge Miyake brag and brag about
his son, but never seen him.
"Have you seen him before?" Mako asked. She was curious
at how this son looked like.
"Never. Have you?" Kanee asked.
"Nope, but Judge Miyake said he was around here. Back from
some sort of training I guess." Mako shrugged.
Kanee took a big gulp of the punch in her glass, then
blushed when she remebered that ladies don't do that.
"Please, remeber ladies don't gulp in public!" Mako chatised
in her mother's voice.
"Excuse me," Kanee said.
"It's okay, I hate that too," Mako said and laughed.
Mako saw Kanee's eyes grow bigger at something behind
her. She felt someone tap her shoulder.
Mako turned around and saw the most cutest guy she had
every seen. It took her a minute to realize who it was. He
looked so different in formal wear and his hair was actually
combed down.
"Good evening ladies," Shinosaki smiled, then bowed
at Mako, "Good evening Princess."
Mako was about to frown, but Shinosaki interupted, "I
mean Makoto. Sorry, I forgot."
"It's okay, Shinosaki," was all Makoto could say.
*Oh my god! I'm in love* Mako thought to herself.
"May I have the honor of dancing with you?" Shinosaki
asked and held out a white gloved hand.
"Ofcourse." Mako took it and stepped onto the ballroom dance
floor after a glance at the shocked Kanee.
They waltzed together, keeping in step with each other.
"You are a wonderful dancer," Shinosaki complemented.
"Thanks, eventhough I don't know what I'm doing," Mako
admitted. She was just following him.
"Really? You don't now how to waltz?" Shinosaki asked.
"I never learned. I'm jsut following you."
"I couldn't tell. I was sure you had lessons," Shinosaki
said, holding her tighter.
Mako just blushed and looked down.
"I saw you talking to my father. Is he bragging again?"
Shinosaki asked.
"Who-" Makoto was about to ask.
"Oh, you don't know who my father is huh? Judge Miyake."
Shinosaki said.
"Oh! I didn't know. Judge Miyake kept telling me I should
meet his son, but he was in some kind of training." Mako
said. So this was the son Judge Miyake kepte talking about.
"Yes. Knight training." Shinosaki said.
"Wow, is it hard?" Mako asked.
"It's tough, but I like the responsibility." Shinosaki told
her modestly.
"I never even realized that you were Judge Miyake's son."
"I don't really tell a lot of people. My father set up
such high standards for me, I'm kind of afraid to say I am
his son." Shinosaki laughed.
Makoto could believe what she felt for this guy. It was
like some bond to him. She felt whole when she was with him.
She looked up at Shinosaki. He was slightly taller, even when
she was wearing her two inch heels. She gasped at how deep
his brown eyes were. It was like she could drown in his eyes.
Shinosaki smiled down at Makoto. She looked so angelic, as
if she was sent from the heavens. Her emerald green eyes were
like two glowing orbs looking out at him. Her skin looked so
creamy and soft, he wanted to touch it, but he couldn't.
"Let's go out and get some fresh air," Shinosaki said
after their seventh dance together.
"Okay," Mako followed him out to an empty balacony.
The celebration was almost over, they both knew that.
Makoto leaned against the railing and looked out at the
sea. The ballroom faced the sea, and she could see the stars
above, glittering. The color of the ocean matched the color
of the night sky. It was impossible to tell where one
began and the other ended. Reflections of the stars illusioned
her eyes, making her see more stars than there were.
Makoto shivered involuntarily at the chill the wind
brought.
"Cold?" Shinosaki asked.
"A little."
"Maybe we should go in then,"
"No, let's stay out here. It's stuffy in there." Mako
said, hugging herself.
"Here," Shinosaki took off his green tuxeedo jacket and
put it around Mako's shoulder.
When he put it over her, he was just inches away from her
face. Their eyes were incapable of moving away from each
other. Shinosaki gave her a soft kiss on the lips that
sent her chill away. He looked into her eyes, unable to
say anything much. He had dated some girls before, but never
was the feeling so strong as it was now. He felt as if he
would die if he couldn't see her ever again.
Shinosaki tore his gaze away from hers and looked out into
the ocean. The ripplings of the tide calmed his soul. He
knew he would have to go soon. Go back to training. The Knights
were suppose to train until they were twenty. He had one
more year to go, before he was given the name, a Knight.
A lot of his friends started training with him ten years ago.
One by one, they quit or dropped it, claiming it was too hard.
That was maybe why the Knights were so elite. Only about ten
of them each planet.
Makoto's soft voice broke into his thoughts, "I had a
great time tonight with you, Shinosaki," she said
shyly, slightly blushing.
"I had a better time with you," Shinosaki said he took
his gloves off and put them in his pocket. He took her
hand, finally feeling her smooth skin.
Makoto could hear the ball coming to an end. Soon, he
would go.
Shinosaki ran a finger along Makoto's soft cheeks,
"Mako-chan, I have to go back for training. I have
to go back for one more year. But I promise, every chance
I get, I'll come see you. I promise."
"When can I see you again?" Mako asked.
"I don't know, but I'll try to make it soon," Shinosaki
promised.
"I feel so much for you, Shino-chan. I don't know what
to do," Mako confessed her feelings.
Shinosaki gave a small smile, "If you just love me half
as much as I love you, we'll all be happy."
"I love you more than that," Mako said.
"Shhh....my Princess," Shinosaki placed a finger on
her lips.
Shinosaki removed his finger and replaced it with his
lips. He gave her a long deep kiss. Makoto closed her
eyes, giving in to the feeling.
Like the wind, Shinosaki slipped away quietly and
went home with his father. In the car, Shinosaki
put his gloves back on.
"She didn't know I was your son," Shinosaki told his
father.
"Really? I thought she would know." Judge Miyake said,
surprised.
"No, she didn't. When I told her, she was so surprised."
Shinosaki said.
"She's only sixteen, Shinosaki." Judge Miyake said.
"She's mature,"
"Go slow on her," Judge Miyake advised.
"I will."
Judge Miyake checked to see that the limo driver couldn't
hear them then laughed a laugh that could chill anyone's
soul, "Soon, we will destroy all of them. Then we will
be most powerful. I'm glad you acted the way you did. Prentend
to be in love with her. Ha! Stupid twit. The whole
family of twits. I can't believe King Jupiter actually
belives that I will be second, inferior to him! Soon, we will
be able to take over. We just have to win all of their
trust. Even the daughter. Good thing we sent you
to Knight training. What better way to win their trust
than that?"
*I love her, I really do. Somehow, I have to warn
her. Before it's too late* Shinosaki thought. When did
his father change? Was it overnight that his father was in
such need of greed? Shinosaki had agreed to the plan,
but now, it backfired. He actually had feelings for the
Princess. Such strong feelings, he could help but defy
his father! He never wanted to go along with the plan, but
only did in hopes that his father would realize how silly
it was. But now, he knew he was in deep.
To be continued....

Hah! You didn't expect that ending did ya? Well, look for
the sequel, if I feel like writting it. You know who to
