PAST LIVES 4
Coming to an End
BY LADY JUPITER (LADYJUPITER@SAILORJUPITER.COM)
Mako gulped. She followed the point of the sword up to
it's holder. It was Judge Miyake. But he was different.
His eyes were bloodshot and there was a desheveled look on
his face.
"So? Princess come to see he parents?" Judge Miyake
asked. His voice no longer hinted at sarcasm. It was dripping
with sarcasm.
*Just play it cool. Talk him out of it. Don't panic.*
Mako kept her eyes on the sword, "Judge Miyake. So good to
see you today. How was your day?"
"Don't try to stall, Princess. You were one of the firsts
to find out my devious plan. I don't know how you knew, but
you knew what I wanted to do. I saw the way you scrutinized
my every move yesterday. You and your mother. The QUEEN!"
Judge Miyake laughed insanely, "Everyone but your father
saw through me! Such an idiot! Trusting everyone he sees?
Who does he think he is? Well, when I become king, which isn't
very far from now, we'll see who is better."
Mako even managed to give a friendly smiled, "Now Judge
Miyake, what are you going to do?"
"Don't speak to me like that. I'm not crazy or an idiot.
Don't use that tone with me. You want to know what I'm going
to do?" Judge Miyake asked with such a curiousity he almost
resembled a child. Almost.
"Why don't you let us go? Then you can have anything you
want. Okay?" Mako tried a shot at bargaining.
"Shut up! I'm going to tell you what I'm going to do,"
Judge Miyake really lost it, "I'm going to hide you and your
worthless family away. Then, I'll just say all of you guys died
in an accident on sea. I'll give them a few bodies to bury
into the six feet of dirt. Then I'll announce that your father
wanted me to be king. They'll a believe that. Since I am
such a good FRIEND with your father, the ex-king." Judge Miyake
spit out the word 'friend' as if it was poison.
"Please let my parents go," Mako asked kindly.
"Are you kidding? And let all this work go to waste?"
Judge Miyake asked.
Mako saw there was no way of convincing this crazed man to
let them go. She went to her last choice.
"Jupiter Power!" Mako started her transformation sequence.
She ended with her pose. Mako glared at Judge Miyake. He
was not the kind elderly man she knew before. Things began
to eat away at his heart, turning him into what stood before
her right now. "I tried to be nice Judge Miyake. Why don't
you just let us go?" Sailor Jupiter said.
"Silly girl. Do you think Sailor Jupiter can stop me?"
Judge Miyake laughed again.
"I don't want to do this..." Sailor Jupiter waited for
Judge Miyake to change his mind. Seeing he wasn't going to
she attacked, "I call upon the forces of Jupiter! Jupiter
Thunder Clap Zap!"
Discs of lighting and thunder were thrown toward Judge
Miyake's direction. He held the long sword infront of
him. Somehow, the discs of lightning were attracted to the
metal of the sword. Judge Miyake swung the sword and almost
batted the discs back at Sailor Jupiter.
Sailor Jupiter ducked down and did a forward roll. She
barely escaped the backfire.
"See? Why waste your time? Just surrender and get it over
with?" Judge Miyake asked.
"Jupiter Supreme Thunder!" Sailor Jupiter tried again.
Even before the lightning and thunder left her tiarra,
Judge Miyake was ready. As soon as the lightning disengaged,
he took another swing. The lighting wrapped around the
sword and crackled.
Sailor Jupiter knew what was going to happen next. She got
out of the way. Judge Miyake tried to aim at Sailor Jupiter,
but being that he was new at this stuff, he missed. The lightning
shot out the window and just startled a few birds on the sill.
It was a mistake that Sailor Jupiter took her eyes off of
Judge Miyake. When she looked back to where we once was standing,
it was empty. She slowly looked around the room, half expecting
him to pop out from behind a sofa or something.
"Good night," Judge Miyake's voice startled her. He
was right behind her.
Sailor Jupiter knew it was too late. There was no time to
do anything. In a nano-second, the blade of Judge Miyake's
hand came in contact with the nape of Sailor Jupiter's neck.
Sailor Jupiter blacked out instantly and fell to the floor.
"Step one, complete." Judge Miyake smiled to himself. He
began dragging Sailor Jupiter's body to her parent's.

Mako groaned. Her head hurt. It felt as if three tons
of bricks fell on it. She opened her eyes, expecting to find
herself in the study. Her surroundings were dark. She
couldn't see anything clearly. There were no windows and
she could see no doors on any wall. It would have been
completely dark, but there was a small flashlight lying
on the floor. Judging by the light it was giving off, the
batteries were almost dead.
Touching her dress, Mako noticed she had unconsciously
changed back to her normal clothes. She rolled her neck
around, getting out all the kinks.
"Mako? Are you alright?"
Mako turned to the sound. It was her father! "Daddy!
Where are you?"
"Over here. Your mother is here with me. Are you alright?"
King Jupiter asked.
"I guess. Mom?" Mako wondered why her mother wasn't
talking to her.
"She's still out. He drugged us with sleeping powder
or something. What about you?" King Jupiter asked.
"I think he hit me or something. I can't remember." Mako
rubbed the sore spot on her neck.
"Are you sure you're alright?"
"Fine." Mako still couldn't see her father. "It's so dark
in here."
"I know." King Jupiter said.
"Dad, I'm scared." Mako confessed.
"I know, Mako. But just hold on. If I can find out a way
to get these chains off..."
Mako herd the jingling of some chains, "What chains?"
"I think he chained us to a bolt on the floor." King
Jupiter was trying to break the train.
"Where are you? Let me try to help." Mako said, getting up.
"You're not tied down?" King Jupiter asked, surprised.
"No. I guess he forgot." Mako said.
"I'm by the brick wall," King Jupiter said.
"Okay, I'm coming." Mako felt her way to the brick wall.
Mako found the chain and tried to undo it. Luckily, it
wasn't a thick one. Each link was only about a centimeter
in diameter. Mako felt around for a lock or something. She
found none.
"It's probably fastened on something," King Jupiter said.
Mako felt around it and found a notch, "Oh yeah. I found
something." She twisted the notch and pulled the chain.
The chain unlinked itself from the hooks and freed King
and Queen Jupiter.
"Good girl!" King Jupiter said. "Sit here by mom. Let
me try to look for a way out. Don't go anywhere."
"Where are we?" Mako asked.
"Hold on." King Jupiter felt around the walls and the
floor. "I think we are in Judge Miyake's basement. It's
about this big and the walls are made of the same material."
"Let's call up and see if anyone hears us." Mako suggested.
"No, he won't be too happy that we are awake. He would
come down and check on us and find us free." King Jupiter said.
"W-w-where am I?" Queen Jupiter mumbled.
"Mom! You're awake!" Mako said.
"Yeah. But where are we? Where did Miyake put us?" Queen
Jupiter demanded.
"We're in his basement." King Jupiter said. "Try to
keep your voice down. He might hear us."
"There must be a way out of here." Queen Jupiter said.
"Yes. As I remember, there should be a trapdoor
that leads up into the house..." King Jupiter felt on the
ceiling, "Here it is!" He pushed it. Nothing moved.
"Is it opening?" Mako asked hopefully.
King Jupiter pushed harder. It wouldn't budge! He
couldn't beleive it. This door was almost never locked.
"It's locked from the outside."
"We're trapped." Mako said.
King Jupiter went over to sit with his family. He couldn't
believe it. His daughter warned her about Judge Miyake,
but did he listen? No. Now they were trapped because
of him.
"This is all my fault," King Jupiter said angrily.
"No it isn't," Queen Jupiter told him.
"Yes it is. I should have listened to Mako. But no,
I wanted to be stubborn. I wouldn't believe that Judge
Miyake would want to harm us. See what I got us into?" King
Jupiter said.
"Dad, it's not your fault. We'll make it out somehow."
Mako tried to convince her dad.
"I can't believe it was in plain sight infront of you guys,
but I was blinded. I was blinded by friendship. I thought
there was no way that Judge Miyake could change like that."
King Jupiter was wallowing in self pity, which was highly
unlike himself.
"Zeus! Listen to what you are saying! You are just
pitying yourself. If you just get your head in gear, I'm sure
we will find a way out," Queen Jupiter snapped. In times like
these, it was good that she had that attitude.
"You're right, Haille. Let me just think. There has
to be another way out of here," King Jupiter put his head
down and thought.
The dim light from the flashlight ran so dark it was soon
useless. Now they were completely bathed in darkness. There
was no light whatsoever from anywhere.
"Great, now I have to work in the dark," King Jupiter
muttered.
"Shh...." Mako thought she heard something, "Do you hear
that?"
They stopped and listened. There was a faint sound of
footsteps getting closer.
"I think it's coming here," King Jupiter said.
"Let's yell and attract attention," Queen Jupiter said.
"No, Miyake will come down and knock us out again." King
Jupiter cancelled out that plan.
The footsteps stopped directly ontop of them. There
was a long period of silence. As if the person above them
was looking for something.
Then there was a scratching sound. Like moving furniture
or something. The scratching sound grew fainter and the
footsteps came again. Someone was opening the trap door.
A crack of light came from the top of the ceiling.
All of them tried to make out who it was. A head poked
itself into the basement. It took a minute for them to
recognize it.
"Shinosaki!" Mako recognized him first. She got up
to run to him.
"Mako! He might be working with his father!" King Jupiter
warned his daughter.
"No, dad. He's the one who warned me about Judge Miyake."
Mako said.
"Shhh. My dad might hear us." Shinosaki said.
"Can you get us out of here?" Mako whispered from the
basement.
Shinosaki was lying on his stomach in the living room. Luckily
he had come home. When he asked where King Jupiter and the
rest of them were, his father said the plan was complete. Shinosaki
knew what that meant. So he had to wait until his father went
to take his daily afternoon nap. First, he had checked every
closet in the mansion, but found nothing. Then he remembered
the trap door to the basement. It was the only door to the
basement, which was pretty secret around here.
"Wait, let me go find a ladder," Shinosaki got off of
the floor.
Mako and her parents waited for Shinosaki to return. About
five minutes later, a ladder came down. Mako stepped away
to let her parents get out first.
"Go first," Mako told them.
Queen Jupiter got out first. King Jupiter urged Mako
to go up. Mako climbed up the rungs on the ladder. On the
last rung, she tripped on her long dress. She was about to
fall, but Shinosaki caught her.
Mako blushed. She usually wasn't a total klutz, but
she didn't know why she always tripped in his pressence. "Thanks,"
"No problem." Shinosaki said.
King Jupiter got up, and took a look around. He was
right. They were in the Miyake's mansion. Shinosaki
closed the door to the basement.
"What will happen when your father finds out you let
us go?" Mako asked. She was worried about him.
"We will find out, won't we?" The voice made everyone
jump.
"Dad!" Shinosaki was startled. He thought his father
was sleeping.
"So? Turning against your own family?" Judge Miyake
said. The sword was still in his hand.
"Dad, give this up. Please?" Shinosaki pleaded.
"Judge Miyake, you don't want to do this do you?" King
Jupiter tried to reason with him.
"You fools! Nothing can change my mind!" Judge Miyake
cackled.
"Judge Miyake? Do you think your wife would have wanted
you to do that?" Queen Jupiter asked.
"I don't have a wife anymore!" Judge Miyake shouted.
"Dad! Don't do this," Shinosaki said.
"Shinosaki, come over here and watch me kill off these
people. One by one, slowly." Judge Miyake said.
Shinosaki looked back and forth from his father to the
royal family. "No, dad. It's not right. Just put the
sword down."
"You dare defy your father?" Judge Miyake asked, "You
little brat! You dare defy me? I will deal with you later.
First, the King goes." Judge Miyake looked at King Jupiter.
"You are mad," King Jupiter said.
"No, I am perfectly happy," Judge Miyake laughed insanely.
"Aren't I, son?" He turned at Shinosaki, "Come here to your
father."
Mako could see anger boiling in Shinosaki. His eyes
were almost red, "I have no father!"
Judge Miyake cocked his head, a smile on his lips. If
there was ever a picture of insanity, it was there. Judge
Miyake stepped closer to them. King Jupiter stepped infront
of his family and Shinosaki.
"I'll take care of this," he said.
"Be careful," Queen Jupiter said.
"Do you want to take the easy way? Or the hard?" Judge
Miyake asked, pointing the long sword at him.
"You leave me no choice," King Jupiter said seriously.
King Jupiter dove for Judge Miyake's legs, attempting
to tackle him down. Judge Miyake tried to jump out of the
way, but was brought down on the carpet. The sword
flew a good five feet away from his reach.
"Get the sword!" King Jupiter shouted.
Queen Jupiter, Mako and Shinosaki all ran for the sword
lying by the wall. On the other side of the room, King
Jupiter and Judge Miyake were fighting it out.
Judge Miyake was stronger than King Jupiter thought.
Judge Miyake pinned King Jupiter down on the floor. King
Jupiter kicked Judge Miyake, which then rolled both of them
over. Finally, King Jupiter pinned Judge Miyake down.
"Get me something to tie him up with!" King Jupiter
shouted.
Mako looked around. There was a silk tie lying on
the couch. She went to get that and handed it to her father.
She saw the Judge Miyake was no longer struggling. He
was slumped under her father.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
"Bye, son. Take good care of the house," Judge Miyake said
to Shinosaki.
Shinosaki just stared after his father. Judge Miyake was
being held by two male nurses. They were going to bring him
to the assylum. He agreed that his father needed help.
Maybe someday, his father would be well enough to come
back.
"Thank you, Shinosaki. For rescuing us. I don't know
what would happen if you hadn't come." King Jupiter thanked
him.
"That's okay. I'm sure you could have figured a way
out by yourself anyway." Shinosaki said modestly.
"Remember, you always have a place to stay in the
estate okay? Anything you need, just tell me." Queen Jupiter
said. She gave him a kiss on the forehead.
"Mako? Are you coming?" King Jupiter asked. The
horse and carraige was waiting out front already.
"Give them some time, honey. Come on, we'll go
wait in the carraige." Queen Jupiter urged her husband
forward.
"Bye Shinosaki. Remember to visit us often," King
Jupiter turned around and said.
"I will."
"Bye. Mako, don't be too long." Queen Jupiter hooked her
arm through her husband's and preceeded to the carraige.
"Want to go for a walk inback?" Shinosaki asked.
"Okay."
They walked to the back of the house, where there was
a giant sized maze made of six foot bushes.
"Thanks for saving us," Mako said.
"You are most certainy welcome, Princess." Shinosaki
teased.
"That's Mako to you." Mako smiled.
"My Mako-chan." Shinosaki put an arm around her waist and
pulled her closer.
They stopped infront of a rose bush.
"I'm sorry about your dad, Shinosaki. I'm so very sorry."
Mako said sadly.
"So am I. I just wished that this never happened. But
that can't be done," Shinosaki said.
"What are you going to do now?" Mako asked.
"I'm going to go back to training. It's what my dad
would have wanted. When he was well."
"Then?"
"I don't know. I guess I'll find out when it comes," Shinosaki
said. Then under his breath, he said, "Orphaned now."
Mako almost wanted to cry for him but tried to stop
herself, "Shino-chan! Don't ever say that. Your dad loves
you in his heart. He's just not well. Your mother loves
you up in heaven."
"Mako-chan, you are always in your fantasies." Shinosaki
smiled.
Mako felt a tear trail down her cheeks. She felt so
sad for him. This wasn't fair. Shinosaki did not deserve
to lose both of his parents.
"Don't cry, Mako-chan. It makes me sad," Shinosaki wiped
the tear away.
*I have to be strong for Shinosaki.* Mako swallowed
back her tears and tried to smile for him.
"That's it," Shinosaki lowered his mouth to meet his.
They kissed each other for comfort. Shinosaki drew
apart and gave her a big hug.
"Remember me," Shinosaki said.
"Always." Mako started to walk back to the horse and
carraige.
"I'll come and see you as much as I can." Shinosaki
promised.
"Goodbye," Mako said.
"Not good bye. Good bye means forever. Let's just
say see you." Shinosaki called after her.
"See you, Shino-chan."
"Mako-chan, see you." Shinosaki turned away from her.
Mako started running to the carraige.
Thus ends this series in the Silver Millineum. But this
is not the ending. More goes on in the seperate planets
and more goes on during later years. A story is never at an
end unless you lose your imagination.
"The only thing that is free in this world is insanity.
I just got taxed for using my imagination."
