Read first before you scroll down...DON'T CHEAT........
If you look at the answer first, then that means you are into beastiality, I kid you not. Hehehe. So...be wise and read on...

You are in a desert. You have with you the following five animals: A lion, a cow, a horse, a sheep, and a monkey.

To escape the desert you are going to have to get rid of one of your animals. Which one do you drop?
(You can use whatever logic you like BUT keep track of which animal is discarded and when!)

You have 4 animals left. The desert is burning up! It goes on for miles. Sand is everywhere. You realize, to get out, you are going to have drop another animal. Which do you drop?

You have 3 animals left.Walk, walk, walk.Hot, hot, hot. Disaster! The Oasis that you were looking for is dried up! You have no choice but to drop another animal.

You have 2 animals left. Ok, it's a long hot walk. You can see the edge of the desert way horizon. Unfortunately, you can only leave the desert with ONE animal. Which one do you drop and which one do you keep?

Before looking at the answers, make sure you know which animal you dropped in what order.

*****************************************************
These answers are based on Japanese Archetypes. The desert resents a hardship.

The animals represent . . .
Lion = Pride
Monkey = Your Children
Sheep = friendship
Cow = Basic Needs
Horse = Your Passion.

So, in the face of hardship, you will sacrifice each of these things in turn.Your last animal represents that thing which you cling to at the expense of all others.

My order:

Lion, monkey, sheep, cow, then horse.

Lion is too danger, so get rid of it first.
Monkey..I don't particularly like monkey, the second.
Sheep, cow, or horse is hard to decide which one will be the next, but same reason as Xiren, for transportation, I will keep the horse until the last minute.

I will keep the horse
unill the last munite if it is
female. But if the horse is a boy,
I'd rather keep the cow.
I can drink either the cow's milk
or the horse's milk if I am lost
in the desert without food. But I don't
think that riding a cow in the desert
is a good idea.

Who will keep the lion???

The horse is more likely the most basic need among the five when in desert.

And, if one has a horse, why should s/he walk?

The way I look at it, all of them are pretty useless. The horse would have been a good transportation tool had it not been a desert. But since it is a desert, I doubt it the horse will actually live longer than me. Even if it will, will it actually have enough energy left to carry me? I don't know.

The cow and the sheep are even more useless. I definitely don't think either one of them will have enough nutrition in them to produce milk.

As for the lion, well, I guess no one wants to be left alone with something that could eventually end their life, especially in a situation where there's no food.

Who will keep the lion???

You are still with us, aren't you, CC?^_^

I would drop monkey first, then the sheep, then the cow, then the lion and last the horse.

This is how I look at it:
Monkey is the skinnest one, it can only feed the lion for one day. Sheep is, or may be, the second skinnest. Cow can feed the lion for a few days. The reason I keep the lion is that it can scare other predators away. I can ride on the horse to get to the safe place in the end.

Pretty strange, but somehow I just think of it this way.

According to the opinions,
if one wants to travel in deserts,
what should he/she take with him/her?
1. a monkey as the playmate to avoid
dying for boredome.
2. lots of milk if you don't like to eat.
3. woolen blankets to keep warm at night.
4. a horse as the transportaion.
5. oasis~~ an oasis?
Yes... Oasis is a British band.^_^
How could people live without music?
And...dont' forget a sheep!
why? if you meet the Little Prince
in a desert, and he asks you
to draw a sheep for him...
you can give him the sheep directly!

The test is "dumb". But if you think about it, there's really nothing wrong with the five things that the animals represent, or the animals themselves. The purpose of this test is to see in the face of hardship, what you are willing to sacrifice in order to overcome the difficulties.

For anyone, I think, it's pretty hard to choose between passion, pride, basic needs, friendship, and children. I know for myself I'd have an extremely difficult time to "lose" any one of these five things--they're all important to me.

So, really, the five things are equally important for most people.

To make the test "not dumb", a situation should be given where none of the animals is more important, or more useful, than others.

Unfortunately, the "test" setter failed to see this point, and gave a situation where one single animal, namely the horse, is much more useful and important than the other four.

Let me say something about how I took the "test"--it's going to make me sound even weirder and more illogical:^_^

When I saw the five animals that I had, two things occured in my mind: first, why the heck do I have a lion with me in the desert? second, what? I have a monkey?! Oh, yes!!!!!!

When I needed to drop an animal for the first time, I dropped the lion with any sort hesitation. "See you later. I ain't keeping you to eat me!"

Then I needed to drop a second animal. Again, without too much hestitation, I dropped the cow. Why? The reason's simple, it's too BORING!

Notice, up to this point, I'd never thought about getting out of the desert, or finding an oasis, or how each of the animals may help me doing that. I'm having so much fun, who cares if I can't get out!^_^

Now I needed to drop a third animal. And this was the first time I actually thought about what the animals could do for me. Firstly, I ain't never dropping the monkey, it's just too much fun to get rid of. So the choice was between the horse and the sheep. And it occured to me that I could actually ride the horse, so I dropped the sheep. However, my kind of "ride" is probably different from your kind of "ride". Most of you would ride the horse to save energy so that you would live long enough to find the oasis. Me? I'm just riding it for fun! I've never ridden a horse, why not have some fun when I have the chance.

Now it was little difficult, because I was getting frustrated by the same scenario every time. "You need to drop an animal. You need to drop an animal." It just seemed to me that dropping these animals wasn't improving the situation any. The oasis had dried up, for crying out. So I thought, I'm probably not going to make it. If I'm not going to make, then to h*&^ with the horse, BORING little thing! So there went the horse.

I'd rather die with a big smile on my face than lying there with a boring creature.

Haha, see, CC's right, I'm as illogical as they come.

suizette... you like the Little
Prince?
You must be a very lovely person.^_^

I wonder he will ask something...very different, but not sheep.
The Little Prince did ask the pilot
to draw him a sheep.
And he said "draw me a sheep" at least
three times.
The pilot drew a sick sheep first,
which could not satisfied the kid (Prince).
Then the kid said the second sheep was
not a sheep but a ram!
The third sheep was too old.
The pilot was exhuasted because
he was in a hurry to fix the engine of
his plane.
He drew a box finally.
"This is only his box. The sheep
you asked for is inside.
"This is exactly the way I wanted it!"
replied the kid.
So you are right in some degree
because what the kid asked for was
a box.
But that was a box with an invisible
sheep inside.
Both of us are right. ^_^
a lovely book, isn't it?^_^

Wuji, although you are very smart, you are a dream boy.
Maybe you should be an artist instead of an engineer because you have great imagination and the way you think of things is different from the science-oriented people.
Being illogical is not bad.
At least you have more feelings.
Not everything can be analyzed or reasoned.
But being logical makes people live more
organizedly and makes less mistakes.

Oops~~I am analyzing the human natures!

Forget what the animals symbolize.
Frankly speaking, I would give up passion
first if I had to give up one of the five things. And children would be the last.
No matter what happens, I will do my best
to protect my children until the last munite.
But I will never be so nice to any man.
And if I go to a desert, I will ride a camel
instead of a horse.
So the test is really dumb!^_^

I have two sets of answers, one is done by my brain, the other by my heart.

Brain's answer: lion, monkey, horse, sheep, cow.

this answer is done with logical thinking: lion is too dangers, and it will eat a lot of my food. (Yes, pride cost us too much sometimes.)
monkey is useless (of course except for fun) horse can not be used in a desert.
cow can produce more milk than sheep.

Heart's answer: monkey, cow, sheep, horse, lion.

this is totally ilogical. but I don't like monkey, and cow and sheep are too stupit to be good companions. and I love lions, so I will keep it.

after I saw the answer I realized that why I don't like monkey: I don't like children. :)

joking lah...

The test is dumb, I really mean it.
It's because I don't find much sense in the assocations of the animlas with the "things".

For example, my dumping order for this dumb test is :
Lion, (Monkey, Cow, Sheep)
I shall get rid of the three animals in brackets ASAP, why should one keep them if they are nothing but burdens? Well, I may bring along with me the cow or the sheep, whichever faster to keep pace with the horse. When it is exhausted, I shall keep its blood...

And my dumping order for the 5 "things" is :
Children (I would not have any to "dump", I don't like children - playing with them for a while is okay, but to raise one, no way!), Passion, Pride, Friendship.
OR
Passion, Pride, Friendship, Basic Needs (if I do have a child).

When the result came out like this, what else could I say to describe the test?

The test is dumb, I really mean it.
I couldn't care less about the metaphors, but it was interesting to see how people came up with their decisions.

Here is how I made my choices:

1. Keeping a lion, a predator which might end up eating me for lunch, appeared to be a suicide. So, getting rid of it right away was a no-brainer decision. I would kill it though, otherwise I might become its prey later.

2. Due to its slowness, a cow could be a burden in the desert, and there would be no purpose of keeping it if not for food.

3. A sheep could also feed me, so I really wouldn't need a cow and a sheep at the same time. Keeping the sheep between the 2 was obvious since sheep are usually swifter and more versatile than cows.

4. A monkey would be a good companion for a journey; it could be a scout, a servant, and a playmate; it could protect me against snakes which are the most probable predators in the desert; it could pick fruits for me if an oasis is found. Monkeys take care of themselves, so travelling with one wouldn't be burdensome. Therefore, I weighed the monkey over the sheep.

5. A horse?! I would ride it, of course! ^_^ It could save me energy, and hopefully get to an oasis sooner; besides, I would be able to see farther from a horseback than on my feet because of the altitude. It was obvious that I would be better-off with a horse than the rest of the animals if I could only keep one. I wouldn't drop it unless it's dead.

And if I go to a desert, I will ride a camel instead of a horse.
Make sure that seasickness wouldn't bother you before riding a camel! Camels pace with both legs on the same side simultaneously. A pacing camel sways from side to side -- a motion that resembles the rocking of a boat. Now you know why the camel is called "the ship of the desert"! ^_^

horse can not be used in a desert.
This is untrue! In fact, horses could move faster than camels in the desert. It's just that they need to drink at least twice a day while camels can go without water for several days. In addition, camels can eat almost anything in the desert while most horses eat only hay and grass. Camels are well adapted for desert life, and therefore are more suitable for long journeys in the desert than horses, but horses still play important parts in the desert nomadic life.

It is really interesting to see what u people's answer....I think after look at u people's answer mt one seen a bit stronge.
My order is:
Sheep, cow, monkey, lion, and I 'll keep horse when I get out the desert.
From the reason, I don't even know why I choose to drop sheep and cow, maybe I thought that sheep=cow=horse, and I obviusly that horse is more useful in some way.
From drop monkey, is the time I start to realise there is monkey, and it is the only animal I hate, (Because I been fear by the monkey when I was little.
From drop the last animal, I thought if I can't leave desert,I will keep lion instead of horse. Because it is really strange to walking with a lion in the road, horse is more likely. eventhough I never thought that I could rid horse....(I'm too dumb), I keep lion longer then other animals, because I like lion, never thought it will attack me, and, my starsign is Leo....:P
I don't think this test is correct, because according to the test, during the hardship I would first give up my friendship then basic needs and my children, the my pride, and I would keep my passion.... Which is impossible, why should I keep my passion, which I don't think I have in normal life...:P and I wouldn't give up my own children, but quite likely for me to give up other people's children..ha..ha...ha
Anyway itis interesting to know (if it is ture) what I really think.........
