Whenever the charset is set to big5, IE will force the language to traditional chinese and it won't send my request correctly. Unless there's a way to get around it, I'll have to delete the font from the system. How can I delete entries from the registry?
CC 個人資料 \| email	posted 09-04-98 8:08 PM ET (US) 小豬﹕ 我相信問題與 MingLiU 無關，刪了它也無用。那應該是 Microsoft IE4 的麻煩(正確點是某一個共用的 MIME DLL 的 limitation，但我不能肯定是那一個……那個 export list 太長了)，令所有 Big5 的 output 都會用 Unicode 輸出。一個 workaround 是外傳資料時改用 ISO-8859，也就是用 Western Alphabet 了，但若一個網頁的 Charset 是 Big5 (and the like)，系統會鎖死在 Chinese Traditional，我們就不能改用 ISO-8859。這又是一個 glitch 了，但我找個了一個解決的方法，就是在 Registry 內 HKEY_CURRENT_USER (or HKEY_USERS) Software (or Default->Software) Microsoft Internet Explorer International 950 加一個 string value "Script" = "big5" 有利必有弊﹕遇到 charset=BIG5 的 MIME 資料就不會自動跳 codepage 了。若你有用 GB，那麼亦要在相應的 codepage settings 內加一個 string value。在 NT4 的修改法亦大同小異。

My system crashes frequently if I run Win95 and use IE4.01 and NC4.05 simultaneously. However, I have to use MS's PWS (Personal Web Server, equiv to IIS on NT) and have to stick with the monster! #XY*$%& Actually, if one uses PWS or IIS, there could be a fix: redirect the outgoing data to the "virtual server" (like proxy) on one's computer and "translate" the Unicode part to Big-5 (or GB) before they are actually sent.
