HISTORY: Silent and usually a loner, Akhmet always had an eye for interesting beauty. As a child, he collected odd shaped rocks and combined them to form shapes from simple to elegant. His parents saw his talent as early as then and sent him to the capital of arts and culture of Amarna. There he studied sculpting, carving and a little of painting. He quickly became one of the most celebrated sculptors of his time and his popularity was celebrated throughout lower Egypt.
Later he was asked to sculpt a young woman named Simun, the daughter of one of the richest merchants in Amarna. They soon fell in love and she became the inspiration of all his work. A few months later, Akhmet received a message that his parents were injured when thieves broke in their house. He and Simun returned to Arsinoe to take care of the old couple.
Deeply saddened and angered by the events, Akhmet turned to the Temple of Sobk to seek guidance from the priests. He offered his services to the Temple by sculpting figures of Sobk and other guardians to please the god and help him avenge his parents.
Word spread quickly as the temple became more and more popular because of its chief sculptor tat soon, King Amenhotep, ordered that Akhmet be asked to serve him. Although, Akhmet was reluctant at first, Simun and his parents encouraged him to accept the job. Simun promised him that as soon as his parents have recovered, they would move to Memphis with him. Before he left, Simun gave him half of the golden medallion that she had worn all her life. A scorpion was etched in the center and according to her the goddess Selqet would protect them as long as they wore each of their halves.
Akhmet left Arsinoe to live in the palace. His first job was to sculpt individual statues of the Royal Family. while he worked on the statues, young Prince Rapses began to show interest in sculpting and would apprentice for Akhmet during his free time. The king and queen both encouraged this and assigned Akhmet to be the princes tutor in scupting.
Akhmet received a letter from Simun telling him that they would soon be together and told them when he should be expecting her and his parents to arrive in Memphis. Akhmet then asked the king for one day off from work to meet his family. However, they never arrived. He received no word of them for weeks and grief took over him.
Worried by his condition, Prince Rapses asked his father that Akhmet be allowed to go back to Arsinoe fora few weeks to see if his family was all well. The king agreed and sent Akhmet home as soon as he finished working on the statues.
Akhmet returned to Arsinoe only to learn that his parents and Simun were murdered by the same thieves. It turned out that they were mercinaries who worked for a jealous competitor and rival. Akhmet stormed to the Temple of Sobk and prayed to the god. He even prayed to Selqet to watch over the spirits of Simun and his parents as they entered the Western Gate. That same evening, Akhmet snuck into the house of the rival and killed him and his mercenaries, but not without sacrificing his own life.
Akhmet accepted his fate gladly and soon he would be reunited with his parents and Simun. His body was mummified and buried in the Temple of Sobk in honor of his courage and in respect to his marvelous statues. However, the god had more plans in store for the restless spirit of Akhmet. Sobk showed great interest in the young man's hidden skills as a warrior, that he made him into a guardian for the temple. Whenever thieves would enter the temple, Akhmet was summoned to destroy them.
It wasn't until 3500 years later when the Temple was disturbed. An archaeologist known as Nieve uncovered the Temple and displayed the artifacts in a museum in San Francisco. As he was about to unveil Akhmet's scorpion medallion, the warrior attacked and stole it. He was caught on camera and was seen by the mummies. They immediately went out to search for him, not knowing if he was a threat or not.
At first, the mummies were almost defeated by Akhmet, if only he hadn't shown mercy to Nefer-tina, whom reminded him of Simun. Before they could befriend him he ran away. However, Scarab became interested in this warriors ferocity and plotted to turn him against the mummies in return that he reunite him with Simun's soul. The plot failed however as Scarab could not summon Simun's soul from the Western Gate.
The mummies asked Akhmet to stay with them and help them protect Presley, Rapses reborn. He agreed to stay, until he could find Simun's soul and be reunited with her forever.
TODAY: Akhmet still prefers to spend most of his time alone. once in a while going out with Presley and visiting the museum. He sometimes stays for hours in front of a retrieved sculpture of Simun. Nefer-tina usually admires him for his undying love for Simun and wishes that she would find a man like him. Akhmet can easily relate his grief with Ja-kal, who also has lost his family over time. As for Rath and Armon, they find him as a good companion who is always willing to try new things with them, and not complain.
Akhmet is very fascinated by the modern world, especially by the mechanical charriots ,the facades of buildings; especially those bearing statues of gargoyles and by action figures Presley has in his room. He only wishes that Simun were there to share the wonders of this modern world with him. There is a big chance, however, that her spirit was re-born like Rapses was.
ARMOUR: Akhmet's armour resembles that of a crocodile, as it was a gift from Sobk. It allows him to stay underwater and swim at great speed.
He has claws attached to his hands and feet which he uses as his main weapons and for climbing. The claws on his hands shoot out and form a grappling hook that reaches up to thirty feet. The tail of the armour is usually for ornamental purposes and can be retracted to appear shorter. However, Akhmet sometimes uses it to whip shabties and other objects. The crocodile headgear allows him to stay underwater for thirty minutes to an hour.
Since the armour is a gift from a different god, it does not dematerialize. In other words, Akhmet would have to put it on manually. This problem was solved, magically, by Rath. The only catch being, he had to chant "With the strenght of Ra!" Just like everybody else.
