Notes: Fushigi Yuugi belongs to Watase Yuu, ABBA belongs to..uhm..ABBA. Oo; This was an unreleased song by the 1970's pop group ABBA. Although it is not my favourite, it holds a special place in my heart. There are spoilers for episode 32 and on. This songfic is about the death of Nuriko [I do believe I've found my prime character to write about! ^.~] and is quite sad. Please send any questions or comments to me at myrna_chan@hotmail.com.

[Tamahome and Nuriko are sitting at the table drinking.]

Birds of passage you and me
We fly instinctively
When the summer's over
And the dark clouds hide the sun


[Flashback to where Soi attacked the boat and Nuriko saved Tamahome and Miaka.]

Neither you nor I'm to blame

[Tamahome says that Nuriko is almost like an older brother to him.]

[Flashback to where Tamahome was taken over by the kodoku drug]

[Nuriko insists that he'll be the one going up to Mount Black and that Tamahome should take care of Miaka.]

[Nuriko arrives at the top of the mountain where he meets Ashitare]

And lying on the floor
How you rise, shake your head
Get up and ask for more


[Nuriko has been speared through the back when he flips over and breaks Ashitare's neck.]

With nothing left untried
Standing calmly at the crossroads

[Nuriko lifts up the large boulder blocking the way to the shinzaho and collapses]

There's no hurry anymore

[Tamahome and Miaka arrive to find Nuriko injured. Miaka starts crying and worries that Nuriko is going to die. Nuriko smiles and reassures her that something as petty as this couldn't kill him.]

[Nuriko dies in their arms.]
