The Dark Warlords are the villains of the Anime known in North America as Ronin Warriors. Their American names are Anubis (Dark Warlord of Cruelty), Cale (Dark Warlord of Corruption), Sekhmet (Dark Warlord of Venom), and Dais (Dark Warlord of Illusion). They served the evil Dynasty faithfully up until their true test of loyalty: the arrival of the five destined warriors, the Ronin Warriors. From there, a series of events took place that involved the betrayal and death of one Warlord, the appearance of an evil warrior-maiden, and the defeat of Talpa took place.
Okay, that's some basic information for you all that don't know anything about Ronin Warriors. Here's the good stuff that makes the four Warlords a little more interesting. ^_^
Each of the four commands one of the mystical nine armors that, if combined, would form the armor of the Dark Emperor, Talpa. For quite a while, none of the Warlords are aware of this. It is never said in the American Anime, but their four armors represent the four seasons of spring, summer, fall, and winter.
In addition to this, the four Warlords don't seem to like each other very much. ^_^ They constantly snap at each other (in front of their master, too!) and try to prove they are better than the rest. In the first season of Ronin Warriors, the Warlords rarely work together.
Anubis, Dark Warlord of Cruelty
Japanese name: Oni Masho Shuten (Ogre/Devil Demon General Shuten)
Hair color: Red
Eye color: Dark blue
Blood type: A
Height: 173 cm
Weight: 67 kg
Birthdate: May 5, 1551
Weapon: Kusari-gama (A sickle attached to a length of chain)
Armor: Cruelty (Oni in Japanese)
Element/Season: Spring (Haru)
Armor kanji: Chu (Loyalty)
Attack cry: Quake With Fear (Kou Rai Sen [Red Thunder Flash])
Attack #1: Anubis leaps into the air and flings the chain of his weapon into the ground, where it embeds itself and comes back above ground as multiple chains that entangle surrounding enemies.
Attack #2: Anubis raises the sickle of his kusari-gama into the air and shouts out the attack cry, a bolt of red lightning striking the sickle and causing a wave of energy to rise and strike all enemies. Hence, the name Red Thunder Flash.
Background: The youngest of the Dark Warlords, Anubis is probably everything a young leader is -- arrogant, over-confident, and stubborn. After a few run-ins with the Ronins, however, Anubis finds himself beginning to doubt Talpa and his loyalty. He becomes a major character in the series when Talpa plays his cards wrong and Anubis joins the Ronins, ultimately losing his life in the second-to-the-last episode. Some say he is the equal of Rowen of Strata in battle.
Cale, Dark Warlord of Corruption
Japanese name: Yami Masho Anubis (Darkness Demon General Anubis)
Hair color: Blue
Eye color: Blue-green
Blood type: O
Height: 170 cm
Weight: 63 kg
Birthdate: In 1550
Weapon: Sword of Corruption [No-datchi] (Long sword) & claw on his left gauntlet
Armor: Corruption (Yami in Japanese)
Element/Season: Winter (Fuyu)
Armor kanji: Tei (Obedience) [Kou -- Piety in Japanese]
Attack cry: Black Lightning Slash (Ankoku Cho Giri [Darkness Leap and Cut])
Attack #1: Cale raises his sword and absorbs the light of the area before sinking into the darkness in which he can assault his confused enemy.
Attack #2: Cale brings his sword into the air, then swings it to his side, where it releases streams of black lightning at enemies in all directions.
Background: Easily considered the loner of the Dark Warlords, Cale prefers to working alone and is quite passive. He doesn't voice his opinion as much as he could, but isn't at all afraid to stand up against whoever offends him. His powers include control over the climate; he is the only Warlord where you can see the apparent connection between him and the season he draws power from. He is the equal of Sage of the Halo in battle.
Sekhmet, Dark Warlord of Venom
Japanese name: Doku Masho Naaza (Poison Demon General Naaza)
Hair color: Green
Eye color: Black
Blood type: AB
Height: 172 cm
Weight: 62 kg
Birthdate: In 1551
Weapon: Snake Fang Swords (Six katanas)
Armor: Venom (Doku in Japanese)
Element/Season: Fall (Aki)
Armor kanji: Kou (Piety) [Tei -- Obedience in Japanese]
Attack cry: Snake Fang Strike (Ja Ga Ken [Snake Fang Swords])
Attack #1: Sekhmet moves his hands so quickly that it appears that he has six separate arms, each holding one of his swords.
Attack #2: Sekhmet bunches his swords together and makes them into a magical whip, which he uses to attack all enemies around him.
Background: Known as the oddest-looking of the four, Sekhmet resembles a man with the features of a snake. Perhaps this isn't a coincidence; his specialities include the use of poison and the ability to spread disease. Sekhmet has a strong disliking of his leader, Anubis; the true origin of this hatred is unknown. Wanting to gain Talpa's favor, Sekhmet does some truly malicious things, such as poison a whole area and kill off countless amounts of fish. He is the equal of Cye of the Torrent in battle.
Dais, Dark Warlord of Illusion
Japanese name: Gen Masho Rajura (Phantom Demon General Rajura)
Hair color: White
Eye color: Light blue (Left eye is missing)
Blood type: B
Height: 176 cm
Weight: 70 kg
Birthdate: In 1549
Weapon: Energy Web (Six scythe-like blades attached to a handle), nunchaku,
Armor: Illusion (Gen in Japanese)
Element/Season: Spring (Natsu)
Armor kanji: Nin (Serenity) [Endurance in Japanese]
Attack cry: Web Of Deception (Tou Chi Mou [Throw Spider Web])
Attack #1: Dais attacks with his Energy Web weapon, the six blades upon it either striking the enemy or another surface. Once impact is made with a surface, durable white webbing flies out of the blades, entangling the victim in its threads.
Attack #2: Dais creates a spiralling mass of energy and blades that resemble his scythes out of the dark energy he has absorbed and forces it at his enemies.
Background: The eldest of the Warlords and easily the wisest, Dais is probably the least battle-inclined of the four. He tends to sink into the background (many times literally) and cast illusions to decept his foes. In one episode, he actually disguised himself as a Ronin to lure the other Ronins to him! While Dais doesn't fight as much as the other Warlords do on the battlefield, his arsenal of weapons makes him a worthy foe of fighting. He is the equal of Kento of Hardrock in battle.
Still here? Heh heh, good. ^_^ While I'm no longer as obsessed about Ronin Warriors as I used to be, I still enjoy the Anime and the Warlords. There's something about them I just find awfully cool. *grins* Now, this just about ends my little shrine to the Dark Warlords. Except for. . .!
FANFICTION!
Mwa ha ha! I actually still have some of my old fanfiction from that point in my obsessive adolescent years. ^_^ This was one of my better RW stories, but that's only because I actually finished it. *smiles*
