Although I have only seen parts one and three, this is easily one of my favorite anime. A young, bored university student in futuristic Tokyo, becomes the only hope for mankind against a cold, bloodthirsty race of aliens who are descended from a group of human astronauts who were a bandoned thousands of years ago. Of course, everything works out in the end, but there are some really great plot twists and the characters are particularly fleshed out for an anime. Watch for the great scene in the beginning of part 3 when the aliens attack the human fleet.
