I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Trowa and Quatre are probably my favorite anime couple in the world, and definitely my favorite shônen ai couple. For any anti-yaoi people (how are you still here?) or anti-Gundam-yaoi fans (yes, they do exist), I don't wish to argue about their status as a couple. For me, they are one of the most beautiful and eternal couples I've ever laid eyes on. Can you imagine how hard it is to believe in love in such a war-torn world? Or the obstacles each boy must overcome internally to allow himself to love, after causing so much death and destruction? It seems nearly impossible to me. But love always finds a way, especially for those who need it most. The Gundam boys need love. They need some sort of caring and affection, or they'll lose their sanity and the last pieces of their souls.

I immediately fell for Trowa. I admit it --- it was the hair. I tend to have a thing for guys with weird hair. I believe I called him "Stupid Hair Boy" for the first week after my oneechan Majik introduced me to the show. Then we actually watched Gundam Wing, and I saw the blonde angel of my life, Quatre Raberba Winner. I get shivers down my spine just thinking about my Quatre-sama. It's not the same love I feel for my Shinji-kun, but it is intense. The difference lies in the green eyes and small smile of Trowa Barton. I could never separate the two of them, even for an experimental fic (ever notice how no one has written a 2x3? Well, I won't, either). I have never doubted the feelings between them. Have you ever seen the way they look at each other? Quatre especially. He absolutely adores the Heavyarms pilot. And the things they say to and about each other, the intensity of the emotions in their voices...it's amazing. When asked what would happen if Trowa returned to Quatre's with an army of enemies (after leaving abruptly in episode 4), Quatre responds with, "I'd like that. Then I could see him again." The boy has it bad. How can you not love them? The duet scene in episode 4 is priceless. They literally make beautiful music together.

The pilots are another example of yin and yang. Quatre is warm, kind, and openly caring. He smiles and expresses his emotions freely, especially through his uchuu no kokoro (heart of the universe). Trowa, on the other hand, is colder, quiet, removed from others. He rarely, if ever, smiles, and he doesn't show his emotions often. Trowa needs the little blonde to show him the joy in life. He needs his smiles, his laughter, and his innocence. In turn, Quatre needs his Trowa to take care of him, to look after him like an older brother, yet adore him as a lover. He needs his rationality and steadiness in life. They are two halves of one soul.
