The Mahabarath

Lord KrishnaMahabaratha is the story of the dynastic struggle between the Pandavas and the Kauravas, who were close cousins. The Pandavas were the five sons of King Pandu. The Kauravas were the hundred sons of Pandu's brother King Dhritharashtra.

The Pandavas consisting of Dharma, Arjuna, Bhima, Nakula and Sahadeva, fought with the 100 Kauravas at Kurukshetra to secure the Kingdom of Hastinapur. The epic battle, called Dharamayudh meaning a "war of justice or fairness", was fought in the holy war field of Kurukshetra.

Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, sided the Pandavas. He was the friend, philosopher and guide to Arjuna. He became the charioteer for Arjuna's Chariot and hence he is also called Parthasarathy - Sarathy meaning Charioteer and Partha for Arjuna. Lord Krishna helped Arjuna overcome his hesitation to kill his close relatives in the battlefield. The wise philosophy of Krishna and his teachings to Arjuna on the battle field have been embodied in the Bhagwad Gita.
