ken-chan's the main songwriter for laruku...the ones he writes are mainly the "epic" ones (niji) and the rock ones, and occasionally a pop one - i think he's been influenced a lot by U2 (listen to the guitar in 'dive to blue'). he's the guitarist, of course, but he also does all the keyboard/piano intros and stuff (hm. i've actually never seen him play the piano), and sometimes does backing vocals ^_^ . i mean, to listen to ken-chan talk normally, you wouldn't think he'd have much of a singing voice *grin*, but it's actually not bad ^_~ . though usually he's drowned out by hyde. um...best place to hear ken-chan sing by himself is in 'the rain leaves a scar'...and watch for it on the heavenly vid *drool*. in my humble opinion as a fledgling guitarist (three guesses as to who inspired me to start learning), ken-chan's EXCELLENT at guitar. some of his solos are so damn cool...not to mention fast and COMPLICATED. and the fact that half the time he's playing with his guitar held over his head, upside down or at various other funny angles, and he hardly ever looks down to check what note he's playing *small sweatdrop*. of course, his habit of tearing around the stage waving his guitar about is what ultimately led to his...*ahem*...downfall...*laugh*. it was during 'blurry eyes' in their live for the heavenly video. ken-chan SPRINTED across the stage, stacked it over his own platforms, and tumbled head-over-guitar about 3 times *wince*. they made SO much fun of that on the video ^^;; . still, he got up, laughed, and kept playing (astonishingly, nothing on his guitar - it was the white one - broke, and he still had his pick). and you wonder why he only ever wears flat-heeled boots and sneakers now? =P
visually, ken-chan's changed a fair bit, like the rest of laruku. though unlike the rest, he's never had long hair *shrug*. he's moved from the shiny, pancake makeup to a more naturally made-up look...and the super-tight, "visual" clothes've been replaced with more western stuff (okay, sometimes still super-tight). he seems to have a fondness for jeans, sneakers and nike shirts ^_^ . or boots and leather pants *drool*. as for hair ~~ my favorite is the longer, straight look. i DIDN'T like the mustache (unfortunately, it's on the 99 calendar), but i'm not adverse to designer stubble *grin*.
