The Summoning of Bob

The Summoning of Bob: Part 1

Note: All names but mine and Keeley's have been changed to protect us from the people we are making fun of. All Fushigi Yuugi characters belong to the people they belong to. Anyone that gets offended by anything in this story…uh…too bad ^_^

It was a dark and stormy night.

Well…not really.

It was actually a very pleasant, sunny summer day. In Colorado…EEK! Hell on earth. So hot. That explains what Keeley (my best friend) and I were doing inside on such a nice day.

Where was I? Oh, yeah. I was slogging through some web pages, searching for Fushigi Yuugi song translations, and Keeley came bounding up the steps, disgustingly cheerful as usual.

"Hey Rach!"

"Hey Keeley," I didn't even bother turning around.

"Doing anything important?" She tried to read over my shoulder. I hate that.

"Mmph." Non-committal sound. I was quite intensely involved in my search.

Keeley grabbed the bokken off of my wall, and poked me with it, just as a new page began to load up on my computer screen. She started poking me with it.

"Hey! Hey! Ok, you got my attention…"

Suddenly, my computer made a noise, sort of like a washing machine in spin cycle. I whipped around to look at it…and this weird silver light shot out of the screen. "What the heck??? Keeley! What did you touch????"

"Nothing! I swear I didn't break it! What in the WORLD?"

We were both enveloped in it, and the light became blinding. There was this really strange sensation of falling…then drifting…and then…

THUD!

"Ouch!" I landed on my back on something very hard. "Ungh…" With a great deal of effort, I opened my screaming eyes, to look at the ceiling.

One problem. My ceiling is NOT blue…and does not have clouds floating across it.

"Geeze...Rach...I didn't do it..what button did YOU push on your computer?"

I looked over, my aching back complaining. Keeley had somehow managed to land on her feet while still wearing her backpack, which has to weigh as much as her. I think she carries an entire bathroom and closet in it. "Ungh…I didn't push anything. Besides…no way any button on my computer could do this." With a huge effort, I stood. "Hey, give me that!" Keeley still had my bokken, so I grabbed it back.

"Where the heck are we?" It was a good question. We both looked around, examining the somewhat barren landscape.

I sighed and dusted my jeans off, then straightened my t-shirt. "Well, Toto, this ain't my room any more. I don't know where we are, but I don't think it's Colorado either. No mountains."

"Well, great. Hey, do you hear that?"

"Eh?" I cocked my head. "Yeah, I hear something. Screaming? I don't know…" I did a double take. "SCREAMING?" The idiot lobe of my brain took over, and I took off running toward the sound, aching back and all.

"Rach! Wait up!" Keeley took off after me. I guess I'm not the only one that gets controlled by the idiotic part of her brain.

We arrived on the scene in a matter of minutes. It was pretty ugly. About 20 guys were after a small caravan…trade caravan by the looks at it. Still controlled by the idiot lobe, I leaped into the fray, and smacked three big uglies down with my bokken before I actually thought about what I was doing. "Oh geeze…Keeley!" I followed through and smacked a guy right on the ear with a satisfying crack. He went down without a whimper. I caught sight of Keeley. She was whacking people with her backpack. Well…whatever works. Something that heavy could take down an elephant.

I managed to knock down two more men, before the rest of them focused on me and Keeley as threats. Three of them jumped me. "Ack!" I was down on the ground again. The guy on top of me smiled, revealing some missing teeth, and reached for the front of my t-shirt. "Oh no you don't!" I brought my knee right up into his…uh…nether regions. Yeah. I have never seen anyone jump like that.

"Rach! Help!" I risked a glance over. Keeley had been reduced to trying to beat the men off with a hairbrush and a ruler.

"Argh…" I struggled against the two men holding me down. It seemed none of the others were too eager to get closed to me, not with the first go rolling around on the ground and clutching his…parts. "I wish I could help, but I'm a little…ouch! Busy here." One of the men had taken off a piece of armor and was trying to beat me with it. "Damnit!"

Suddenly both of the men went flying away from me. "What the heck???" A shape jumped over me, and followed through into a roundhouse kick, knocking another guy down. I pushed myself up, jaw slack.

It took about two minutes, and the attackers ran. Keeley ran over to me and we watched. When it was all over, the man walked over to us, dusting his hands off and grinning. He had to be about 6'2" with nicely tanned skin, black hair, and gorgeous eyes. It was all I could do to not drool.

"Who are you?" Keeley always did cut to the chase.

He grinned. "You can just call me Vaol." He struck a muscle man pose.

I did drool. But only a little. Keeley punched me. "Rach…see that thing on his arm?" she hissed.

"His muscle? Boy, do I…ouch!" I took a closer look, trying to ignore my raging hormones. "There's something glowing silver on his arm…it looks like…like…"

He turned toward us and smiled. I could see the symbol clearly now. "AOL???" Keeley and I said in unison.

He tapped his arm. "I'm a seishi of one of the gods…see?" He struck another pose. "Boy, that was fun…too bad the guys didn't hang around so I could kill them…" He looked at us. "Either of you want to fight me? No? Oh well, I'm off then."

Keeley nodded "AOL. It fits."

"Geeze…what is going on?" I watched the man's retreating back, then panicked. "Wait! Don't leave us here! We're lost!" He ignored us and walked away.

"What a jerk!"

I wiped my chin. "What a SEXY jerk…"

Keeley punched me again. "Come on, we need to think. What is going on? What's a seishi? Isn't that like a Fushigi Yuugi thing? Rach? You been reading weird books lately or something?"

"Nope, not weirder than normal. I don't have any ideas…except we can follow that…*drool* guy." She whapped me again. "Well? You have any better ideas? I sure don't want to stay out here." I glanced around. "Especially since all these people are dead. Ick. Let's blow this joint before it starts to smell."

She nodded, and we started following the man's tracks. They lead toward a blot on the horizon…a city maybe…who knew? We'd find out soon…and find that guy too…
