American DBZ News | ||||||||||||||||||
4/23/00 - Yeah, yeah, I know it's been awhile, but fear not, Spring Break is giving me a chance to update massively(sort of). Anyway, on with the news... Last Saturday, Toonami took over Cartoon Network for the entire day, but failed miseribly at airing shows that appeal to the daily watchers. But, among the Super Friends and Thundercats, they managed to finally air the long awaited Garlic Jr. saga, that everyone hates already! They held off on the last 10 episodes of they're 50 episode contract so that you, the consumer, would buy the videos with the episodes that didn't air until last week. That's a pretty good gimeck if you ask me. A couple of weeks ago, in early march, Toonami started airing a show called Gundam Wing. This show is the "Star Wars" of Japan(before Episode 1)! This show is just amazing and is a totally different style of anime compared to DBZ. And unlike DBZ, Cartoon Network is airing uncut episodes of the show at 12:00am. These episodes include more violence and cursing(something you won't see from FUNimation). Also, Gundam Wing includes the voices of some of the 1st and 2nd season DBZ characters! For example, Brian Drumlin, who played Vegeta, is Zechs Marquise, and ChiChi(don't know the actress' name) is Relina. And finally, on this last week's Lycos top 100 list, Dragonball Z took 2nd again, with Pokemon taking 1st. Gundam Wing has shown up at 12. Until next update...seeya! |

1/1/00- A lot has happened during the past 6 months with DBZ in America. We finally saw the new episodes air on Cartoon Network, FUNimation bought the whole freaking series from sales of their first 2 videos, and now they're going non-stop to ensure we pay for the episodes just to see them anytime this new millennium. And when FUNimation bought the episodes very nice people to all DBZ friends had to go: the fansubber. Yes, the fansubber! One of my best friends when it came to downloading the good old Japanese uncut episodes. The people that made FUNimation mad as hell. Now that FUNimation has the rights to the whole series, they can sue anyone that sells or gives out the original Japanese or the new dubbed episodes. The war to stop fansubbers has ended and the winner is FUNimation. Anyway moving on...in current news, Cartoon Network started airing the new episodes over because FUNimation can't seem to finish on time. The newest episodes will start at around next week with the most boring saga: The Garlic Saga. That's about it from the World of DBZ... Over and out. |
