A short word to everyone who has only seen Tenchi on Cartoon Network or any other edited version.  The true version is way better.  They edit a lot out of the american tv version  and in case you're not sure. That IS NOT tea they are drinking. MMMmmm Sake.

Gallery One

In the Tenchi Muyo series there are a number of different storylines. Which can be confusing to someone who has not followed the series since the beginning. So I am going to do my best to explain the differences between the series'.

First off in the Oav Series Ryoko is found in the cave by the Masaki Shrine and Washuu claims to be her creator, but in Tenchi Universe Washuu is the one trapped in the cave and Ryoko and Washuu have no relation. Secondly in the Oav series both Washuu and Mihoshi show feelings of love toward Tenchi, but in Tenchi Universe Niether on of them expresses sentiment toward him. Kiyone becomes a main player in the Tenchi Universe Series. In Tenchi in Tokyo Ryo-Ohki transforms not only int a spaceship but a giant pink mecha that Sasami pilots. Tsunami does not appear in the T.v. series. There is more differences I'm sure but you get the drift. Below I have provided episode -to-episode storylines. Kinda of a teaser or ruiner, depends on how you look at it. But if you do not wish to know whats gonna happen next I would suggest you skip this next Section. :)

The OAV SERIES

OAV Series One- Tenchi is a normal kid growing up in the Japanese countryside with his Father and Grandfather. He enjoys hearing all the tales of demons and beasts his Grandfather tells to him. Until one day he stumbles upon a cave that holds one of those demons trapped inside. In an attempt to pull a sword from the creatures hand he awakens it from its sleep. It is however not a demon entrapped in the cave but an alien thief named Ryoko. Now awake Ryoko resumes her destructive behavior and by the end of the episode has destroyed nearly everything and claimed Tenchi as her own love muffin, and Tenchi's father could not be happpier that his shy son Tenchi has finally found a woman.

Series Two- Now enters Princess Ayeka! Ayeka has travelled from far away in search of her long lost brother who had dissappeared years ago in abattle with Ryoko. In a remote galaxy she is suprised to find strange reading coming from the third planet(Earth), a reading of Ryoko. In an attempt to battle Ryoko and her spaceship Ryo-ohki are captured along with Tenchi by Ayeka. She is suprised however to see the ssword Tenchi is carrying, for it is the same as the one carried by her brother and one that is only usable by descendants of the Jurai royal family. Ayeka's sister Sasami however sets Ryoko and Tenchi free. Here Ayeka sees Ryoko flirting with Tenchi and becomes jealous. The rest of the episode consists of Ayeka and Ryoko battling over Tenchi until they destroy both their ships and end up stranded on Earth.

Series Three- Ayeka falls deeper into depression worrying about how to get back to her planet Jurai with her spaceship destroyed in the battle with Ryoko. Sasami seems unconcerned with thier situation as she is happy just to have a new place to play in. Ryoko on the other hand spends her time trying to replace Ryo-ohki, her spaceship. She does and it is a strange process indeed, but Ryo-ohki ends up being the cuddliest spaceship in existence.

Series four-Tenchi and his father and grandfather go on thier annual vacation to a hot spring where Ryoko takes advantage of the oppurtunity to get naked with Tenchi and tease Ayeka about being so shy. Ayeka gets fed up with her and a battle ensues where Ryoko summons a water demon. She loses control over the demon however and it destroys nearly everything until Galxy Police Officer Mihoshi arrives. Mihoshi is about as bright as a one watt light bulb and was sent to Earth where nothing ever happens for everyones protection. However since Tenchi first activated the sword of Jurai he drew the attention of Kagato, the most infamous villian in the universe. In an attempt to investigate the case Mihoshi opens a blackhole which sucks Ryokos demon in and her spaceship as well leaving her trapped on Earth as well.

Series Five- Kagato shows up at Tenchis home to take control of the Sword of Jurai. Unsure of his abilities Tenchi attacks but is quickly cast aside. Tenchis granfather Katsuhito, who is in reality Lord Yosho, Ayekas long lost brother who found himself stranded on Earth years ago picks up the battle with Kagato. Yosho is on the verge of victory when Kagato takes control of Ryoko and sends her in an all out attack against Yosho, using the distraction to escape to his spaceship taking Ryoko with him. Tenchi, Ayeka, and Mihoshi go after Kagato in Ryo-Ohki but Kagato overpowers them destroying both Ryo-Ohki and Tenchi.

Series Six- With Tenchi gone Ayeka and Mihoshi storm Kagatos ship. Ayeka however falls into a trap and into Kagatos grasp. Mihoshi and Ryoko on the other hand end up in a different dimension where they meet Washuu, who claims to be Ryokos creator and "The greatest scientific mind in the Universe Ha.Ha.Ha" . Tenchi reappears just in time as a giant death ray is fired at Earth.

Series Seven- Kagato has been defeated but Tenchi still has his hands full with five beautiful women and Ryo-Ohki to worry about. Ayeka and Ryoko continue to battle over Tenchi, which they will do in every episode and movie from here on out. Washuu starts her mad experiments with Tenchi at the center, and Ryo-Ohki multiplies causing a shocking carrot shortage.

The Mihoshi Special- Mihoshi claims to be one of the best Galaxy Police Officers there is and she tries to prove it in this special. As she recounts the details of how she and her partner Kiyone solved the biggest case in Galaxy Police History. All the normal characters are cast in Mihoshis unbelievable tale.

Series Eight- Tenchis aunt arrives bearing a baby in which dhe wants Tenchi to take care of for a while. Nobody here really knows much about taking care of a baby though, and Ayeka and Ryoko show their competitive spirit even here. Washuu reveals a little about her past in this episode. This is the first episode of the second series.

Series Nine- Tenchi and Co. return to the hot springs where the innkeeper is delighted to have a helping hand. A mysterious ghost is seen wondering the halls of the inn. Amidst all the action Sasami is feeling lonely and sad. Back on Jurai during the attack by Ryoko something happened to awaken Tsunami and Sasami is now feeling very troubled by this incident.

Series Ten- One clear day with springtime just around the corner, Tenchi happens to hurt Ryo-Ohki's feelings. It was because of some misunderstanding which eventually gets rectified, but Ryo-Ohki cannot quite get back to her normal, cheerful self. Then 'The Mass' (meaning 'the element of all things'), a strange space creature kept in Washu's lab as a subject of her troublesome experiments, comes into play to make things even worse. Ryo-Ohki's fervent desire to help Tenchi is picked up by The Mass, which causes the situation to head in an unexpected direction... Will Ryo-Ohki's wish come true?

Series Eleven-Driven by the will of Queen Tokimi, Dr. Clay, a supergenius scientist, heads for Earth to capture Washu. Tokimi, a high level dimensional life form, wishes to meet Washu in person. The evil hands of Dr. Clay reach for Tenchi and Company who carry on with their daily lives, unaware of the danger. His assassin is zero, an artificial life form who assumes Ryoko's appearance. How would Masaki Family deal with this clone of Ryoko...? One mystery leads to another as the story rapidly unfolds.

Series Twelve- Zero, disguised as Ryoko, finally tries to assassinate Tenchi. She fails to accomplish her task before Ryoko's feelings for Tenchi hidden in her heart do not allow her to hurt him. Her true identify exposed, Zero returns to Dr. Clay with Ryoko as her hostage. Tenchi and company fly out into outer space to recover Ryoko. Will the Goddess of Victory smile on them? As Washu faces Dr. Clay, the two genius scientists clash. What is the true intention of Tokimi, the mysterious queen and imperial power hidden in Tenchi...?

Series Thirteen- The three vistors from Planet Jurai arrive at the Masaki residence without warning - Azusa, the emperor of Jurai and the father of Ayeka and Sasami, Misaki, their mother, and Funaho, Yosho's mother. They have come to take Ayeka back to Planet Jurai and to check on the Masaki family, which is full of universal secrets... The endless mystery of Washu, capture of Ryoko, the sworn enemy of Planet Jurai, and the true intention of Yosho. With everyone's intentions entangled and intertwined, the story is suddenly on the move again. How would Tenchi deal with the biggest crisis in the entire series - the sudden arrival of the father of the girl he lives with?

Tenchi the Movie: Tenchi Muyo in Love- In the beginning of the movie Tenchi begins to disappear, fortunately Washuu shows up in time to save him eith some kind of net. Here she explains that in the past something has happened to Tenchis mother,Acheka, and the net she developed will protect him from disappearing, for a while. In order to save his mother and himself Tenchi and Co. go back in time to the year 1970. Here they discover an escaped criminal named Cain has travelled back in time to destroy the Jurai bloodline. In a brave attempt to capture Cain using Washuu's instant Jurai power emulator Acheka and Nobyuki(Tenchis father) are sucked into subspace along with Cain. Tenchi, Ryoko, and Ayeka go in after them in a suicidal attempt to rescue Tenchi's mother and father.

Tenchi the Movie 2-The Daughter of Darkness- On a hot summer day, a fetching young girl named Mayuka appears to Tenchi, calling him Daddy! Jealousy and envy follow as Ryoko and Ayeka battle for Tenchi's attention with an apparently new rival. Who could the mother be?!? Hiding in the background, Yuzuha, the Demoness of Darkness, is about to get her revenge against Yosho for a grudge held for over 700 years! She begins her plan by using Mayuka to steal Tenchi away to the Dimension of Darkness. So it begins again, Tenchi must fight to save his friends and Mayuka, daughter or not!

Tenchi Forever-Is this the end of Tenchi?! Japan has announced that this  full length movie will probably be the last production involving Tenchi Muyo! Tenchi fans everywhere will appreciate the production quality and beautiful animation of this farewell feature. In the story, Tenchi storms off into the hills after a fight, but doesn't return. After searching for some time, Ayeka and Ryoko finally discover Tenchi seduced by a mysterious woman!
