The Slayers

It should be noted that this is not nearly a complete guide to the Slayers. It is simply what you need to know to read part two of The Dragon and the Phoenix. If you think some sort of vital piece of information is missing from this page please let me know. The Slayers is a comedy series set in a world of swords and sorcery. The series follows the adventures of Lina Inverse and her strange group of friends as they battle bandits, monsters, and the occasional dark god. Although there are your regular garden variety monsters such as trolls, ogers, and dragons, there are also Monsters with a capital 'M'. Monsters are essentially demons from another plane who are immune to conventional spells or weapons. They are incredibly powerful, but not indestructable. The list of characters below includes everyone who is in my fic.

The Characters

This is Lina Inverse, the hero of the Slayers universe. A self proclaimed sorcery genius, she is only about sixteen years old, but very skilled in the magical arts.She wields two of the most powerful spells in the world. The Dragon Slave, which resembles a small nuclear explosion, and the Giga Slave, which can take out almost anything but must be cast using the Sword of Light and runs the risk of annihilating the world. Lina's favorite hobbies include eating, blowing up bandits, and getting rich. She is very self concious about her small breasts and hits anyone who even mentions them.

Gourry Gabriev is a mercenary and master swordsman. He wields the awesome Sword of Light, which amplifies magic and has the ability to cut through anything. Including Monsters. Gourry's biggest and probably only problem is the fact that he's dumb as a brick. He originally linked up with Lina because he thought she was a young child in need of a protector despite her obvious ability to defend herself. He has a very short attention span, no memory for anything important, and loves eating as much as Lina.

Zelgadiss is 1/3 human, 1/3 golem, and 1/3 demon. He didn't start life this way and he has no intention of ending life as he is. Unlike Lina who uses black magic, Zel uses white. He has the most powerful spell in white magic called the Rah Tilt, which destroys opponents on the astral plane as opposed to the physical. He is a skilled swordsman as well as a skilled sorcerer and wields a magic sword of his own. He likes to consider himself a dark and mysterious figure with no emotion, but Lina usually drags him into situations that ruin this image. He continues to travel with Lina anyway in hopes of finding a cure for his curse.

Amelia is the Sailor Scout who never was. She loves spouting long justice related speeches, jumping from high locations, and thwarting evil. She is the princess of Seryunn and is a powerful sorcerous even though it doesn't always show. She uses white magic like Zel, but her spells are more protection oriented even though she too can use the Rah Tilt. She travels with the group in search of evil to destroy and wrongs to right. She is younger than Lina but has bigger breasts, something that Lina really hates.
