The August issue of American
Environmental Laboratory published the 1997 Pittcon Editor's Awards following an
extensive review of several new product introductions by manufacturers in the analytical
instrumentation arena. In the article entitled "Separation Science at Pittcon
'97," three vendors were singled out for their cutting-edge innovative technologies.
After voting on 27 nominations by a committee of 15 distinguished editors, the chips
fell this way:
Micromass, Inc. for its platform ICP system
Hewlett-Packard for its Gene Array optical reader
PerSeptive Biosystems for its Mariner LC-MS system
Other vendors receiving notable mentions with significant vote totals included:
Beckman Instruments (Biomek), Cohesive Biotechnologies Inc (Turbo-Flow Chromatography),
Hewlitt-Packard (LC-MSD), Milestone MLS (Ethos), Ocean Optics (S-2000), Sensar Division
of Larson-Davis (Jaguar CE-TOF-MS), ThermoQuest (UV6000-LP), Varian Associates (Spectr
AA-220 FS) and Yokogawa Corporation of America (PT-1000).
Take the advice
of the Pittcon Editors who put considerable time and effort into producing this list
of vendors that have distinguished themselves far and above the competition. You'll
have to forgive us for not noting who wasn't worthy of inclusion on this select list....
they didn't even muster a notable mention!
