The June issue of American Laboratory published the 1998 Pittcon Editors' Awards following an extensive review of several new product introductions by manufacturers in the analytical instrumentation arena. In the article entitled "New Instruments Draw Attention at Pittcon '98," three cutting-edge innovations stood out from the crowd. After voting on numerous nominations by a committee of distinguished editors headed by Gordon Wilkinson (Editor of the Analytical Instrument Industry Report and Chair of the Standing Committee for the Pittcon Editors' Awards), this is how the chips fell this year:

Take the advice of the Pittcon Editors who put considerable time and effort into producing this list of vendors that have distinguished themselves far and above the competition. You'll have to forgive us for not noting who wasn't worthy of inclusion on this select list for the third year running.... they didn't even muster a notable mention!
