News and information: ****Note**** Some may be rumors of what I've heard and some may be straight from the horse's (or should I say wolf's) mouth.

Apr 18, 2001: LISTEN, AND LISTEN WELL!! This has nothing to do with Princess Mononoke, but it deals with something that's very awesome nonetheless--- Daft Punk, a Techno-pop band has made a new video, "One More Time", and it's COMPLETELY ANIME. The animation itself was done by Matsumoto (spelling?), creator of Queen Emereldas, Captain Harlock, and the entire Galaxy Express 999 series. This video is great! I adore it! And I feel that everyone should go to MTV and request it for a video on the count down, so more people can see how awesome anime can be. Get this word out!! Maybe the more people see that anime is very popular, more people will create animated videos (Remember "do the evolution", or Korn's video? We need more cool vids!! ESPICALLY anime!! go to TRL Homepage and then go to "Play My Song" (it'll be on the right side, a big button). Once you're at the voting page, just click on the button that says Daft Punk, "One more time." PLEASE, if you have a webpage that has anything to do with anime, put this information on your site! Link to my info page here, or simply link to http://www.mtv.com/sendme.tin?page=/mtv/tubescan/trl/

Spread the word!! Tell people that just like listening to the music, even!! VOte once every day; I think this week it's reruns, or so I read, but, don't give up hope! Not to mention the song's pretty catchy too. . . ^_^ Thank you for your support!

As of Sept 3, 2000: Well, the MOVIE IS OUT ON VID LADIES AND GENTS!! Yes, yes, it's true. But no DVD? Whyfor, you ask? Well, I must thank Max Walrus for this info, cuz the DVD will have a Japanese track!!! You heard right, English and Japanese, and they're hoping for it to be out during the holiday scramble (so I'd say mid-December). Will it be out? Let's hope so... keep it tuned here, Hime fans!

As of July 20, 2000: Ooooh, rumors rumors rumors!!! So I've heard from Nausicaa.net ---Some people are getting pretty darn optomistic about the chance of a Japanese language track on the Mononoke DVD... nothing can be concrete, and this is JUST a rumor... but somehow I got a feeling that it's gonna happen.. I'll pass the info out as soon as I hear! Stay tuned, Hime fans!

As of July 14, 2000: Well, I recieved some information from a close friend of mine (aka the movie guru) and she's found a little more information about the DVD release. Look at it from this page. It pretty much supplies the same information you've heard before, but it's just reassuring to see that another page is confirming what I've heard ^_^.
Also, the other day I saw some REALLY NICE mononoke art books at my local comic book store. They even had a Volume 3 comic of the Mononoke movie!! Oh alas! I wish I brought my 20 dollar bill! (I only had $7, and it was 10.95 -- not too bad price, considering it was the size of an average graphic novel, and it was in Japanese.) So now, the question arises: do I spend my money on that, save up for the japanese art book (YEAH RIGHT! it was 55 bucks!!), save up for the Guardian Force figures from FFVIII (I WANT SIREN, DAMNIT!), or just forget about that stuff till Chirstmas and spend what I have now on a trip to Aki Foods. (Japanese candy... very tempting and very good) Sigh... I need to find some more baby-sitting jobs to make some more money. While I try to make up my mind, keep it tuned here, Hime Fans!

As of Jul 9, 2000: PROBLEMS!!Great, that link I supplied seems to be not working. Lovely. It had all the info. Well, thank goodness I read it when I did.. I'll tell ya everything you need to know! The release date of BOTH the DVD and VHS will be August 29, 2000. I sure hope so... too many pushbacks. They're reminding me of Lunar Silver Star Story: Complete.. how many pushbacks did that one have anyhow? 3,4? I lost count. Now, the DVD will not have a Japanese track with English subtitles, but will have a French track with subtitiles.. confused yet? It's because a DVD of Mononoke has not been released in Japan yet, and Studio Ghibli doesn't want to have the threat of pirated DVD's. For all the info regarding the DVD's, go here (It will open in a sperate window so you can stay on my site). That link also explains some ideas that BVHE has.. like, for example, releasing a "special ediotion" VHS: Letterbox format, Japanese track/English subtitles. That's about all I can remember about the e-mail.. jeez I wish that link still worked!! Stay here for all the info, Hime fans!

As of Jun 25, 2000: Well, well, well. Been awhile since I've said anything else, but listen to this: August 8. August 8!!!! We have to wait till August for the release of Mononoke! I'm so angry!!! I'm gonna sick the wolves on whoever is keeping the release date pushed back. And bad news for fans waiting for DVD - - no time set yet for its release. I'm guessing it will probably be released about holiday time, although I could be wrong. Now here's something interesting. Mononoke Hime is trailered on the movies The Defender, Mission to Mars & Alien Visitor That's not too bad I suppose, but I don't think any of those 3 really became a hot movie, and I doubt they'll do well on VHS. But... rentals, rentals, rentals! (Actually I think I'll rent Mission To Mars just to see the trailer.. Hey! There's another YKYWTMMW to add to my list) Now for all of you who saw on Nausicaa.net the price would be $100(!) dollars, that's for "video rental outlets" only. That's the price it will be sold at to places like Blockbuster and Hollywood Video (Thanks to Scarlett for figuring out what that was all about). Now, does anybody know why the release date keeps getting pushed back?? _Please_ e-mail me if you know!
Well, I'll keep my eyes open and the info coming! Check back soon!

As of April 24, 2000: Well, I just read from my friends at Nausicaa.net that they talked with Robin Jonas, VP of Publicity, Miramax Films, concerning the DVD and VHS releases. Well, they pushed back the release date to "Summer 2000" instead of June 13. Well, I'll try to keep up to date on any more release info as it comes. The features on the DVD and VHS are still the same. (read below) And Buena Visa Home Entertainment is developing the advertising/PR campaign, so let's hope they don't SCREW UP! (Considering I never saw a trailer ONCE for Mononoke in the theaters...)
Hey! Look! It's the tenative box design for the VHS! Click on the image to see a bigger verison.

As of Feb 24, 2000: YES! The release date on Princess Mononoke to VHS AND DVD has been announced! It will be released on June 13, 2000 (of course that's subject to change) The DVD will have both English and Japanese tracks, English closed captions will be available, and the VHS will be the dubbed version. Running time will be about 133 mins. and bonus materials include the theatrical trailer and a featurette ( I'm not sure what they mean by featurette though.) I took all this information from nausicaa.net so they're a good (and honest) source. Now, to just wait untill June 13..... further developments will be noted here!! Keep tuned, Hime fans!

As of: Feb 5, 2000: Well, this is the first entry in my News and Information part of the page!  What I've heard so far, is that there should be a release of The Princess Mononoke on video. When, I have no clue, and it's sending me on quite a tailspin. I know that here, Mononoke was in the theatres (should I say THEATRE, single form) for 3 weeks. I only saw it once! I would definately like the video. And I'm sure all the other Hime-nuts want it on video too! The video will be released by Buena Vista Home Entertainment, but a date is yet to be announced. There's no info on the DVD release yet... I suggest if you are an avid DVD fan, sign the anime on DVD petition.  I could be wrong on this.. but it sounds like there's a chance that they'll release a Japanese sub-title version..? That's not confirmed at all though, so don't get your hopes up quite yet. For blood-thirsty "I must have the movie now no matter what!!" the video's cost is 4,500 yen in Japan (but of course that means it's in, well duh, all Japanese). I'm not sure if you can get the video from places like animenation or not. If you know of any places you can buy the Japanese video, please e-mail me the info!
