Go away! She thought. Why can't you just go away...?
"Because you don't will me to do so!" the younger and first Rei responded.
"Well, i'm willing it now!" she spat. "I don't wanna take drugs anymore! I don't want to be an alocohlic anymore! I don't wanna be a slut! And....I want Haruka to love me..." she admitted.
"Wake up, kiddo!" young Rei yelled. "Love yourself before you expect anybody else to love you! And what happened to the rough n' tough girl who was never afraid of anything or anybody? The one who never ever cried and never ever gave up?"
"I don't know", she responded. "She died when she made that decision two years ago, to become a mother...then the new Rei was born, Rei the manic depressive, Rei the drug addict, Rei the alcoholic...." she started crying, "God, i'm so sorry, Rasha...if I knew what he would do to me....i'm so sorry...."
"You can be sorry but you can change too!" she yelled. "Don't be s lut! Take care of yourself! Be happy! Don't be a slave to anyone or anything!"
"But", she sobbed, "I can't...I need to be dependent on someone, or else I won't have a purpose...."
Young Rei slapped her on the forehead. "Do you even think about the words coming out of your mouth?!" She let out a huge sigh, putting her hand on her hips."You're almost hopeless!"
Almost hopeless? Rei thought.
"Where the hell did that girl go?"
"I....I...."
"Stop whining!"
"How do you expect me to be able to change?"
She smiled. "Because I have faith in you! I AM you!" she said, closing her eyes. "So I understand your pain! But if you can't accept the past, forget it! What happened to the sweet, innocent, and modest kid? Hell, if I gave you five creds, you'd do anything I wanted you to! You would be too embarrassed to do that four years ago! But you can be that kid again! You can be twelve again, if not in body then in mind! You can be what you want to be! Why don't you understand that? Your life isn't over! You have three people that care about you deeply! Rasha is practically your mother and your sister, and she loves you with all her heart! Mamoru is like a father to you, and he loves you like a daughter too! And Haruka is your soulmate! Can't you see that, Reiko?"
Reiko....that was my nickname...a long time ago...but was it really such a long time ago?
"No, it wasn't!" little Rei answered.
"Be proud and be that first Rei! Rei I! When you wake up be that sweet Rei again and don't look back!" she said, smiling ruefully. "The First Rei."
