Aino Minako is the Pretty Soldier Sailor Venus. She was the first of the senshi after meeting Artemis, and henceforth fought crime in England as Sailor V. While she lived in England, she worked alongside with two cops, Alan and Katrina. She had feelings for Alan, and while working on a case with Katrina, she entered an abandoned warehouse. While she was inside, a granade exploded. Katrina and Alan, thinking she was dead, embraced. Minako saw this and was devastated, realizing that they loved each other and left England and let them think she was dead. Therefore she has a hard time with the police and dislikes them, as well as her mother.
In the first season, Minako is very mature but somewhere along the line she loses that and starts to follow in Usagi's footsteps, acting more like a ditz. She is obsessive over guys (she always wears that red bow because a guy she liked [Higashi-senpai from the Sailor V manga]  told her she looked good in it) and wants to become an idol (It's very cute to watch in the beginning of the SuperS movie a very young Minako acting out scenes from TV).
When Minako was first Sailor V, she pretended to be the Princess Serenity as to throw all those bad guys off track. In the manga, however, it seems as if (or maybe I just interpreted it this way) she really did think she was the princess. Once she joined with the other senshi as the last of the inners, she became Sailor Venus. *In the manga, Minako is obviously the leader of the four inner senshi [Mars, Jupiter, Mercury, Venus] that protect the princess [Moon]. She even gets a special sword made of stone that she uses to kill Beryl.*
