Naoko started contributing her stories to the magazine Nakayoshi while she was in high school. When in college, she was awarded with the Kodansha's second New Manga Artist Award for her story
"Love Call."

In 1991, Naoko created the story "
Codename wa Sailor V," which ran in the magazine Run-Run. It was about a superheroine girl in a sailorsuit/school girls' uniform. Sailor V fought crime in England. The story caught the eye of TV producers, Asahi, and they offered Naoko a chance to make an anime. However, they didn't just want Sailor V. They wanted a whole team of sailor-suited girls. So, without refusing the offer, Naoko created more characters to go with her story and created the sailor team in Bihoujo Senshi Sailor Moon. Sailor V appeared a little later on, turning her into
Sailor Venus.

In 1993, after the Sailor Moon anime had been running for about a year or so, Naoko won Kodansha's 17th manga award. Naoko Takeuchi has extreme talent and ability. Her stories are always exciting because she fills it in with every aspect. All of the theories or astronomy in the manga is scientifically correct, and she made characters unique by themselves.

Princess Naoko's Return-to-Society Punch!!

Naoko's lastest manga is
Princess Naoko's Return-to-Society Punch!! and it is kind of an autobiography of Naoko's life in manga form. It depicts her life at Kodansha and how she was generally unhappy working for them. PQ Angels, which was published by Kodansha at the time, was ceased at four chapters. Now it seems Naoko may have returned to Kodansha, so maybe for those who enjoyed the series could be looking for more PQ Angels! There are also rumors of a new Sailor Moon series being worked on in Japan...but only rumors! Nothing is confirmed yet!
