"How come we never heard about her?" Sano finally broke the silence with his coarse voice. Kenshin looked at Sano, looking a bit remorseful at his question.

"She did a lot more than Shishio has done in helping the Meiji government. But there were immoral officials who thought women differently from men." Kenshin paused. Kaoru suddenly knew right away what it was that caused Kenshin to be evasive on the topic.

"No way.." she whispered to herself. Kenshin looked at her with passionate eyes, somewhat a bit ashamed of himself, silently nodded.

Yahiko and Sano looked at the two and yelled out. "What, what???"

Kenshin continued. "Do you remember when they tried to kill Shishio because he was a threat to the government? Well, Rei had been the victim as well. After Shishio had been burnt, they went after Rei, but she, luckily, already knew about their plan beforehand and disappeared out of sight."

"But why?" Yahiko demanded.

"Her gender." Kaoru finally broke in to save Kenshin from having to tell such dreadful story. "It was a shame that a woman had such influence over men and the government. No matter how good she was, they didn't want to leave the trace that a female hitokiri had such an impact in bringing the peace to the Meiji government."

"What BULLSHIT!!!' Sano yelled, slamming his fist on the desk.

"There are still people after her. Some of the existing corrupt officials are still trying to get rid of her even more now since she knows about the government's dirty schemes. They believe if this is out in the public many people lose respect and trust in the government. Saito had been assigned to protect her and also to find out the official behind all this," Kenshin said.

Kaoru stood up all of sudden.

"Kaoru-dono?"

"Urusanai…"

"Eh?"

"Urusanai. How dare they treat her like this, after all she's done!"

Kenshin fell silent.

"She's like you.. Kenshin.." Kaoru's voice softened, looking down at him. "She might have killed innocent people but I think we all understand for what she sacrificed herself for..."
Kaoru held up a fist to her face and crashed it down in front of Kenshin.

"ORROOO??"

"And for such stupid, stupid, ignorant reasons she must be chased and sustained from freedom?? I am not gonna let that happen!!! And YOU, Kenshin, are going to help me protect her!" Kaoru yelled grabbing, and shanking Kenshin by the collar.

@_@ "orrrooo~~~~"

"You are wrong, Kaoru. WE are going to help protect Rei-san." Yahiko broke in while Sano put up a no-duh-smile determined by his good heart.

Kenshin looked at all three and smiled heartwarmingly.
"Hai!"

"Yosh!! What are we waiting for? Let's go find her now!!!" Kaoru shouted with a victorious smile.

First of all... Sorry part 2 is so short, but believe me, Part 3 will be lot more exciting and definitely longer. I am in my Finals week(so please do pity me T.T)but rather than because of that the story of Hitokiri needs a bit more introduction than I expected. I am anxious to get to the fun parts of Hitokiri but I realize that I must go step by step. So hang in there with me if I take a little more time to put up new parts.
