4. "Begging For a New Beginning"

Written 4-4-1999

An arch of passion must meet its end
Make its death
A darkness swallows the brightness
In an unbreakable net

Perhaps my comparison can be made
As I speak of a relationship gone dead
Like the cutting of a phone line
Or as a criminal loses his head

It starts with a delicious dream
Like a fairytale come true
Heaven opened and caught my breath
When I shared a kiss with you

My heart got lighter- yet, fuller
And I was emotionally dependant on every moment with you
Everything became nothing without even your warm eyes
If only there was more that I knew

The day came finally
When you were mine for keeps
But did the ecstasy last?
(Let me put it this way:)
Does a cat creep?

Your breath, warm on my countenance
As you touched my cheek oh-so-gently
You told me that you loved me
But it just could never be

Pushing you away, my eyes were hurtful
I knew they slashed right into his soul
Instead of trying to ask questions or cry
I acted mean, angry, and cold

His apologies still echo in my mind
When I look back upon that time
I left you, but you came back
Crawling, begging for our love back
