Some interesting facts on Ryoko:
In July 18th 1980,Ryoko was born a
premature baby in Yokohama, the hometown of her mother. She weighed only 4.5 lbs. Her
family lives in Kouchi and owns an interior shop.
She was repeatedly hospitalised
when she was a year old because of a heart illness known as "Kawasaki Disease."
Ryoko detested having to take injections when she was young. She cried often when she had
to take injections. She became better when she grew older.
In 1983, her younger sister, Emi,
was born. Ryoko was only three years old at that time but she had already developed a
passion for singing.
Ryoko entered elementary school in
1987 at the age of seven. Her class consisted of 26 students. She stayed in the same
school until graduation. Ryoko took an interest in the game basketball in school and won
in inter-school competitions.
Ryoko entered middle school in 1993
and surprisingly joined track and field team instead of basketball. In 1994, she was
placed third in hurdles in a track meet. Ryoko took part in the "P&GClearasil,
Pika-Pika (=shining) Face Contest" which she came across in a magazine. This
could be said to be her claim to stardom.
Her first television appearance was
in June 12th 1995. Her first drama was "A 'S' for the Heart". At the same time,
she continued to bring glory to her school getting second in hurdles and high jump in the
