How do you install WinAmp skins?
I think that you need to have at least WinAmp Version 2.0 or 2.5, or greater to use these WinAmp skins.
If you don't, then just download the latest version of WinAmp from www.winamp.com.
Once you have WinAmp, you need to open Windows Explorer, or whatever program you use, to get into the WinAmp directory. Once you are in
this directory, look for a directory titled "Skins". If this directory does not exist, you may create it now to put all your WinAmp skins into it.
At this point you should transfer the .zip file into the Skins directory.
(If you do have an older version of WinAmp, like WinAmp 2.0, then you will need to unzip the files from the .zip file and put them in a new directory inside the
skins directory with the title of the WinAmp skin as the title of the new directory.)
Finally, to load your WinAmp skin, start WinAmp. Open up the Options Menu either by clicking on the "O" next to the visualizer, or by right-clicking
somewhere on the main part of your WinAmp skin, and locating "Options" in the menu that appears. Once you have the Options menu open, find "Skins -> Skin Browser".
(And click on "Skin Browser".) (Note: Finding the Skin Browser may be different for different versions of WinAmp. These instructions are for WinAmp 2.6.)
This should bring up a window in which the skins in your skin directory are listed, and you should be able to select your skin
from this window by clicking on the name of the skin.
If you don't see any Skins listed, check first that you have the right skins directory listed. Click on the button "Set Skins Directory", and check to make sure
that the folder ...WinAmp/Skins/ is selected, or whatever folder you put the skins into is selected.
How do you create WinAmp skins?
Well, I personally started making WinAmp skins by looking
at the files in WinAmp skins that I had downloaded from
sites on the internet, and found several programs to use
in making WinAmp skins.
Programs to make WinAmp skins:
I personally use WinAmp Skin Maker to create the main
part of my WinAmp skins, and then I have to manually create
the Equalizer and Playlist using some type of paint program
(I use Fractal Painter and Adobe Photoshop). Any paint
program, like MS Paint will work for creating these parts
of the WinAmp skins.
One tutorial that you can read is the one found at http://www.winamp-skins.com/.
