For centuries, the human race have taken the Earth's natural resources for granted. Now they have paid the price. Pollution, violence, and carelessness have caused the Earth to become a barren wasteland. The oceans are dry; and rain is a false hope. But the human race is spared...but for what? True, the human race was able to survive the natural disasters, but now they live in poverty. All remainings of the earlier great and proseperous world has disappeared. And the Rodoists, high-ranking followers of the Holy Mother, are thought to be the reason behind it.

They are a different race from the humans and can be identified by their pale chalky white skin and yellow-blond hair. Many view the Rodoists as spiritually enlightened beings who are too holy to ever publicly converse one-on-one with the humans. They supposedly deserve better than the humans, but not everyone shares such views. Rebels, known as The Hazzards, are suspicious of the Rodoist's purpose here on Earth. They question the Holy Mother and their way of government. To the Hazzards, the Rodoist system is unjustified and even tyrannical. And so they use any means necessary, no matter how extreme, to uncover the truth and dispose of the Rodoist government.

Ran, a local young boy, lives with his grandparents and other orphaned kids, Equipped with a fiery mouth and a taste for adventure, Ran sneaks off around the Rodoist compound. Surprisingly enough, his troubles don't start until he returns back to town. During a chase between Rodoist soldiers and a Hazzard Rebel, Ran meets Aira, a pretty young girl with silver hair, in a most unconventional way. But she disappears before he can say anything to her. Somehow, the Hazzard Rebel appears at Ran's house, where his grandpa is fixing him up. Ran overhears the conversation between the two and impulsively decides to join the Rebels. His grandpa, however, refuses to let him go, but he does anyway.

So whaddya know? Ran arrives at the Hazzard Camp. And guess who's in the camp? Aira, of course! After a while, we find out that Aira has some kind of special power that interests both the Hazzards and Rodoists. Somehow, she gets kidnapped and Ran goes after her.

Green Legend Ran is your basic "save the world" - "save the girl" movie. Nothing breath-taking, but nothing horrible either. All the characters, however, lack the depth needed for the audience to associate with the characters (I found Ran a tad annoying-even if he was the main character). The music and plot are average. The animation frequently jumps back and forth from TV to movie quality. Overall, Green Legend Ran is not worth buying. It is the kind of movie you'd rather rent or watch on TV -for free. For you typical story adventure-lovers, this is the movie for you.
