Hello! This is Dr.Zero! Some of the people might wonder who are these characters. They might think, "Who are these guys? I have never seen these characters in Anime in my life? And you know what! They are right! These characters are not anime characters, but an RPG(Role Playing Games) characters. So why am I making this page? Because I love this game. This game is called Chrono Trigger,and made by Squaresoft at Japan in 1995. This game won the best Role Playing Game in 1995 and I think also 1996. Also, did you notice the characters in Chrono Trigger looks similar to anime? This is because the character desinger(the person who drawed the characters, both good and bad side) is Toriyama Akira(or Akira Toriyama in USA). He is the cartoonist who made the manga Dr. Slump, Dragonball, and Dragonball Z (amazing isn't it)! He also drawed for Dragon Quest(this is an anime), game Tobel, and many others.

Frog real name is Glenn. Frog might look ugly(he IS a FROG), but his real human form looks quite handsome. To see his true form, kill Magus the second time you meet him in North Cape in 12,000 BC then kill Lavos. In the ending, you can see Frog curse have been off and see him in his human form. But I recommend not to save after killing Magus because if you don't fight him, he become an ally to your party(Surprise!) and Magus can be a good, powerful ally to your party. Example, you need Magus to trigger "triple tech Dark Eternal" on Black Rock and "triple tech Omega Flare" on Blue Rock.

Back to the subject. His best friend Cyrus have been slain by almighty Magus ten years ago(before Chrono and the other have met him). And he always vowed revenge for the honor for Cyrus. Now Cyrus, was the leader of the knight of the square(Squaresoft, get it^_^)table in around 600 AD. He and his best friend Glenn went to retrive the Badge of Courage or the Hero's Medal which the person who claims the medal can wield the Masamune, the legendary sword that is requires to defeat Magus. After they got the Masamune, they were attacked by Ozzie and Magus. During the fight, Cyrus was killed and Frog have turned to a frog(wasn't that obvious).

Frog wanted to kill Magus but, Frog dared not fight Magus even if he was even better swordsman than Cyrus! Frog was afraid of hurting a person, that if he does, he would go crazy or just can't stand the thoughtof it. This is why he didn't joined the army. So Frog didn't cared about having the Hero's Medal and lost it.

But later by Chrono and the other help, Frog gets the Hero's Medal and the Legendary Masamune. So Frog and the others go after Magus who caused the war and says that he created Lavos, the destroyer of this planet in the future.

Okay, if Magus is the creator of Lavos, killed Cyrus and start a war, then you may ask, "Why do you LIKE Magus? Also why he can be an ally?" The answer, he isn't evil as he seems to be. He just seems to be evil because of his tragic past. Also, he's COOL! Want explanation? Okay.

First, Magus real name is Janus. He is the Prince of Kingdom of Zeal. But rumors say that Janus's father isn't the king, just the mother is the queen. In the Kingdom of Zeal, he had no friends except Alfandor, his cat. He have been taken cared by his half-older sister Princess Schala(Her father was the king. The king probably died long time ago.). So the only person who cared for him is Schala and the only person he loved (as a family member)because Schala is more like a mother to him than a half-older sister.

Magus's mother, Queen Zeal, have been controlled by Lavos when she found out of the great force of Lavos. Now, you may ask, "Didn't you say Magus created Lavos?" and the answer is no, it just seemed like he did. I'll explain later in the summary.

Back to the subject. Magus always followed his sister when he was young. So one fateful day, he followed her sister to the Ocean Palace when Schala went there by force to absorb Lavos energy to the Mammon Machine. Schala went there by force since she is the only one can trigger the Mammon Machine to work. While absorbing, Lavos awakened and four gates where created that sucked the three Gurus: Melchior, Gasper, Belthasar, and Janus(or Magus) when he arrived to the Mammon Machine. Melchior went to the present (1000 AD) in Medina Village, where he became a weapon maker and later fix the Masamune, Gasper in the end time and became a guide of time portals, and Belthasar in the future (2300 AD) where he studied research of Lavos and finished his grand masterpiece, the time machine, the Epoch!

Where did Magus go? He came to the Middle Ages(600 AD) and found by Ozzie, the leader of the Mystics, and raised by him. Then Ozzie made him in charge of being the leader because of his great magic powers. Now after that insidence of Lavos, he sware to even the score with Lavos. So he started the war with Kingdom of Guardia to distract the Mystics of being suspicious of his own plans. His plans was to summon Lavos to his castle to kill Lavos. Also he promise to the Mystics that he will create the ultimate evil that will kill the human race and make the world of the Mystics. And guess what he said that he will create? That right, Lavos.(Isn't he witty ^_^)

But in the game(a spoiler), his plans failed when Frog and his friends came to Magus and bring him to his knees (but he is not yet defeated). Then they all got sucked to a void, everyone ended to prehistoric times. But Magus ended up at his time, the Dark Ages(12,000 BC). And since he already knows about what is going to happen, he convince Queen Zeal of him being a great prophet. His accurate prophies gave the Queen(or his mom) her trust and gave him the plans for the Ocean Palace Project(The point was to draw so many energy from Lavos that all of the kingdom of Zeal will obtain immortally). He knew Lavos will awake when this happens but did it anyway to fight him and kill Lavos.

Now, you may wonder, "Why he killed and distroy so many lives just to fight Lavos?" The reason is that his heart was already ice because all the poeple left him because of Lavos except Schala. And Lavos also sent him to 600 AD and make him live there. So he was full of sorrows in his entire life because of Lavos.

After Lavos awakened and distroyed most of the people in Zeal, Magus tells to Chrono's friends that to find Gasper, the Guru of Time, because he has the ability to replace the incorrect time streams. If you don't fight and kill him, he will go with Chrono's friend and help. So he isn't really a bad guy, just cold and never shows his feelings. There, I answered all your questions and probably convinced you that he isn't evil as he seems to be.
