Well, I guess since you're here, you may as well make yourself comfortable. ::exhales:: So, you want to know what prompted me to write Past and Present. Well to put it to you simply, I thought it would be cool introducing two of my favorite characters (which I like to call trademark characters) I use to draw and bring them together in one awesome story... hence forth "Past and Present".
This story came to me while reading the novelization to Star Trek Generations, which was well-written by J.M. Dillard. She does a pretty darn good job novelizing the Star Trek movies. My favorite, of Generations and First Contact, I would have to go with Generations. Though the movie was pretty mediocre, the novelization was excellent, and J.M. Dillard wrote some excellent scenes that were cut from the final version of the film. Speaking of Star Trek Generations, I'm currently working on another story..... (no it's not related to Star Trek. Good guess though) it's a story entitled Daimyo Brothers Generations of Heroes.
If you've read Past and Present through and through, then I think you are ready for Generations of Heroes. Basicly, it brings a final end to the warrior Chaimu Kirishima, who was introduced in several chronicles of stories that I liked to call The Daimyo Brothers Chronicles and is also in Past and Present. These chronicles were stories I wrote back in '93 when I was just a freshman in high school. I still read it just for the heck of it and I hope to write it into a real script.
Generations of Heroes is the story in which Chaimu does die at the hands of a warlord. While saving a village from army of High Lord Gishdorn, Chaimu dies defending the village. The story picks up sometime in the sixteenth century where Reika, the former Warrior Queen and Crusader of Vengeace and her travelling companion Trini, a member of the Pink Flower Society Warrior Caste face off against Gishdorn, who stills Chaimu's weapon, the Ultra Thunder Sword, and uses it for his plan in world conquest. In a climatic battle, Chaimu once again helps puts his life on the line, and he dies a warrior's death, saving Reika and Trini.
There are four new characters introduced in Generations of Heroes: Minya, who is a simple villager, but when the story shifts to the sixteenth century, she is a healer. Reika: the former Warrior Queen wants vengeance against Gishdorn. Trini: a young woman from a simple village who wants to journey the world. High Lord Gishdorn: a very powerful warlord and sorceror.
The idea for this story as I said, came from watching the movie Star Trek Generations. The idea also came from watching Xena Warrior Princess. Reika is in a way sort of like Xena, Trini is Gabrielle, Gishdorn, and Mia are like Doctor Soran and Guinan from Generations.
Making a return to the story are: Chaimu Kirishima, Sheirubi Kirishima, Jayde Kirishima, Mai Kirishima, and the Samurai Brothers Ty and Ken.
I'm not sure if I'm gonna post it on this site or not.... chances are that I'm won't.
Where was I before I described my next story??? Oh yeah! Past and Present and the main characters. The two main characters in this story are Sorshira Natalya Reedov (Sorsha Natalya Reeds) and Chaimu Kirishima. I call these two characters my trademark characters because almost every character I draw and think of, they always come to mind for inspiration. I first introduced Sorsha in a comic I drew a while back, entitled Lightening Dragon, which is not about a dragon casting magic over Japan or anywhere else, but it is about a young woman, whose husband is killed by the Yakuza, and the path of a vengeance she goes on. The story was inspired by one of my favorite martial arts movies with one of my favorite female martial artists, Cynthia Rothrock. The movie was called Lady Dragon.
There are various reasons why I named my character Sorsha and why I gave her the nickname lady lightning. Let me start off first, with the nickname -- lady lightning. It isn't mine (though I wish it was), but it's the nickname of another one of my favorite female martial artists, Christine Bannon-Rodrigues. If you ever watched WMAC Masters, then you know who I'm talking about. Now.... the name: Where did I get the name Sorsha, you ask? Well, if you watched Willow, you will remember a fiery red-headed warrior named Sorsha, who was Queen Bavmorda's daughter. If you ever get the chance, you should see it. I won't bore you with the plot of Willow, but that's where the name Sorsha came from.
As I stated when I introduced you to the novella I like the martial arts. And Past and Present has it. I'm not going to bore you with the origins of all of the characters names for each one of the players in Past & Present, but just for grins and giggles, I'll do one more.... Jena Armstrong. I had so many names for this character, Carol, April, or Jena. Of those three, I preferred Jena. To make a long story short, Jena was basicly named after an elementary and middle school friend of mine whose name was also Jena. If you're out there my friend, this character is dedicated to you.
