Warriors' Destinies
Past and Present
Live Action Feature Film
Whoa! Now, I'm definately dreaming!
What in the world are you doing here!? Oh! You stumbled on my third hidden page huh? Well, congratulations. I can't say that I'm surprised.
On this page, you'll just read my thoughts into selling this novella either to some novel company or who knows.... maybe I'll write a script and take it to Hollywood!
If all of this went well, I'll have successfully written the novel for the movie as well as the screenplay. Music wise, I'll probably recommend either James Horner (who did a great job with Braveheart and Titanic), Danny Elfman (whose Batman Returns score is dark and brooding, which is a good thing), or John Williams (the man behind Star Wars) to do the score.
As you know, a movie can't run without actors and actresses right? So, I've compiled a pretty interesting list for who would fit what roles if I was to send in a script and "Past and Present" was made into a movie.
MAIN CHARACTERS
Sorshira Natalya Reeds
Sorsha Reeds is one of four main characters in Past and Present. What's called for in this character is an actress who has both a cool attitude and would not mind being knocked around a little. The actress would have to have some sort of martial arts background, is emotional, and be willing to make some sacrifices. Sorsha also is a little sarcastic, so the actress would also have to add some sarcasm to the role.
Enter Yancy Butler. I saw her in the TNT movie WitchBlade and I knew she would be Sorsha Reeds. As Sara Pezzini, she was quite awesome, and she also showed her emotional side when her partner was gunned down. I think Yancy has my vote for this role.
Other candidates: Kathy Long, Cynthia Rothrock, and Bridgett "BabyDoll" Riley
Chaimu Kirishima
Chaimu Kirishima is a warrior from feudal Japan. The actor that would portray this sacrifical hero would have to have a long history in martial arts and can use almost any weapon with the greatest of ease.
Jean Claude Van Damme fits this persona. From movies like Bloodsport, Double Impact, Double Team, and Maximum Risk under his belt (or should I say scabbard), this role is a no-brainer.
Grandmaster Roen Kuronushi
Grandmaster Roen Kuronushi is one of two adversaries Sorsha and Chaimu must face in the story. He has stolen the Ashige-Daragon Blade, Chaimu's legendary weapon and released Emperor Gardashiro from his prison.
Who's needed to fill this role is someone who is both a master at brain games, manipulation, a cruel smile, and a cool martial artist to take on both Sorsha and Chaimu. Of all the casting in this dream cast, this one was one of the hardest. Originally, I thought instantly Bolo Yueng, but having seen him in just about every Jean Claude Van Damme movie, that does not work for me. So that's why I've done a lot of thinking, and I figured, who else but Cary-Hiriyuki Tagawa. From playing Eddie Sakamura in Rising Sun to the evil sorcerer Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat, Cary has been in awesome role after awesome role. He's got my vote for the Grandmaster Kuronushi any day.
Emperor Gardashiro
By far, one of the most evil and greatest actors there is should be in this role. Emperor Gardashiro is a sorceror lord while being a warlord at the same time. An actor would have to know how to be extremely cruel and have an evil laugh. Frank Langella would fit the role of Gardashiro perfectly. He has played a lot of evil roles. For those that saw Masters of the Universe (like me), you will remember that it was Frank that played the evil Skeletor. Years after that blockbuster, he starred with Kevin Kline in Dave and went on to star in the Whoopi Goldberg comedy Eddie, also a good movie. So, what's wrong with playing a powerful warlord bent on world conquest when he kills the warrior Chaimu Kirishima? I don't see anything wrong with that.
Frank Langella, report to Props Department 2 for your Dark Staff and Hell's Guardian blade.
SUPPORTING CHARACTERS
Detective Maaya Amigutsu
For someone to play the rough-n-tough cop Maaya Amigutsu, an actress would have to know some degree of psychology. She must express her opinion freely and tell her partner Detective Keein Hideyoshi how much she cares for their friendship. Roxann Dawson would do great for this role. She is not only a beautiful actress, but she plays one of the best roles in Star Trek history, Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres, the half human, half Klingon hybrid on Voyager. On this show, she plays an ex-Maqui crewmember who is now the ship's chief engineer, and the crew is working on ways to get home from the Delta Quadrant.
I can just picture her asking Keein who they have just arrested in an alleyway:
Maaya
So, Keein.... who exactly is this woman?
Keein
That, my dear Maaya, is Kimiko Amishiru, one of the most dangerous women alive.
Maaya
Are you serious?
Keein
You'd better believe it. She framed my friend Sorsha.
Though Maaya is somewhat mild in her attitude in this scene, she still is a rough-n-tough cop. If Ms. Dawson can put some of B'elanna Torres into Maaya, then she's got this role made.
Detective Keein Hideyoshi
For the role of Keiin Hideyoshi, an actor would have to be cool, yet at the same time be emotional and able to get angry. Enter Jerry Doyle. As the former chief of security on Babylon 5 Michael Garibaldi, Doyle was cool as a cucumber while at the same time have a good sense of humor. If J.D. can incorporate some of Garibaldi into Hideyoshi, he’s got this role in the bag.
In the movie, Keein and Maaya will be refered as Detective instead of lieutenant, as stated in the story
Sheirubi Kirishima
For the role of Sheirubi Kirishima, an actress would have to be beautiful as well as talented. She must also know how to handle the questions her children Jayde and Mai ask their mother. Honestly, I think Talisa Soto might fit this role. She is a gorgeous woman and has Mortal Kombat and its sequel Annihilation under her belt. She’s perfect for this role.
Jayde Kirishima
For the role of Jayde Kirishima, a young actor is needed; one who is curious as well as funny. I may have gone a bit off the deep end on this one, but I don't think I had much of a choice. Jake Lloyd seems perfect for this role. Now, though I haven’t seen The Phantom Menace (which I’m glad to report came out last year and it was goooood), Jake plays a young Anakin Skywalker. So would playing Jayde be a bit much for him? I don’t think so.
Mai Kirishima
A young actress is needed for the role of Mai Kirishima, Jayde’s sister and Sheirubi and Chaimu’s daughter. For this role, the actress would have to be intrigued, curious, and be somewhat funny. Mara Wilson fits this role. If you saw the movie Matilda, you’d think so too. Matilda was about a young girl who wasn't treated right by her parents because she was different. They did not know she had special powers and treated their daughter unfairly.
Now, in "Past and Present", Mara will be playing a young girl raised by a daimyo father and a samurai mother who love both of their children. Mara has this role.
Shir Musaka
Shir Musaka is basicly a reporter for Osaka News Channel 13. The actress that plays this role would have to be talented, and know how to be a reporter. I’ve chosen Mia Sara for this such role. Though I’ve only seen her in Ferris Beuller’s Day Off, I know she’s been in other projects. Shir basicly reports the news of the Ashige-Daragon Blade being stolen, and is later kidnapped herself. Though her kidnapping isn't in the story itself, it will be in the movie. Mia Sara has this role.
Kimiko Amishiru
For the role of Kimiko Amishiru, an actress would have to know how it feels to be emotionally hurt, but also be seductive and alluring later on. Kimiko is a troubled ninja, and she needs to know what’s right and what’s wrong before she destroys herself in her own guilt. Though she studied kung-fu, I think that Thuy Trang is suited for this role.
Earlier, I thought Bridgette Wilson, but then I thought to myself, hey, how about Thuy Trang.... For those who don't remember, Thuy played Trini Kwan for three seasons on MMPR, and I must say that I liked her in that.
Ms. Kwan, pick up your sai from props.
Noeru Kawamoto
For the role of Noeru Kawamoto, an actress would have to beautiful, a little sarcastic, and still be able to know the difference from right and wrong. Enter Tracy Scoggins. Okay, so what if she played a villianess in Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. I chose Tracy because she was a great captain on the sci-fi series Babylon 5, which sadly has ended. I guess I'll just have to wait until Crusade. She has this role.
Raina Miyamoto
Raina is in a way similar to both Noeru and Jena Armstrong. Where as Jena provides some comic relief, Raina can also be funny, be also very emotional. The actress who plays Raina would have to be firm, but still have a slightly hushed voice. I think Bridgette Wilson is right for this role.
In Billy Madison, she played Billy's fifth grade teacher and love interest. In Mortal Kombat, she played Sonya Blade. If you ask me, she has this role solid.
Jena Armstrong
For the role of Jena Armstrong, an actress would have to be a bit stubborn, but still can have a good laugh. I think that Charisma Carpenter would fit this role just fine. On Buffy The Vampire Slayer, she plays rich snob Cordelia Chase, whose as funny as she is clueless. ; ) As Jena Armstrong, I think that this role was meant for her.
I can almost picture E!’s Coming Attractions having a preview of this movie. As usual, the host of the show would be none other than Todd Newton.
Todd Newton
Welcome back to "Coming Attractions" where we bring you the best part of the movie without leaving home.... the trailer. I’m your host Todd Newton. All right, folks, get ready for a journey that spans the globe and back again. Our next movie is "Warriors' Destinies: Past and Present", and it tells how two heroes, from separate time periods, must save the present from the forces of darkness. This is the first movie from new screenwriter Jeremy Chappell, and the movie stars Jean Claude Van Damme, Cary-Hiriyuki Tagawa, Frank Langella, and Bridgett "Babydoll" Riley.
