Akane. He is completely smitten with her, and if he's not trying to beat Ranma to a pulp, or find his way
around, he's trying to catch her heart. (Once he tried to do so literally.) He isn't as versatile as Ranma,
and uses quite a straightfowards attack style, which is why Ranma always manages to defeat him,
although Ryoga can take ALOT more damage than Ranma, and also uses a bamboo umbrella to argument
his fighting skills.
His animosity with Ranma came from the fact that it was because of Ranma that he turns into a cute,
black little piglet whenever splashed with cold water. When looking for Ranma in China, he was knocked
into "Heizhuniquan" (Black pig drowned spring) by a mysterious girl, whom he later found out to be
Onna-Ranma. He was taught a few skills by Cologne and a mining worker, although he rarely uses them,
unlike Ranma. But if he does, he uses that move exclusively, hoping it'll be enough to defeat Ranma, but
of course, can't even touch him... most of the time.
The pain of his curse is also increased a notch or two, when Akane adpoted his cursed form as "P-Chan",
her world's only cute and black bandanna wearing pig with canines. He's always trying to reveal his
curse, in small bits and pieces, (Unintentionally "aided" by Ranma), but Akane always fails to catch his
meaning.
However, he has another lover... Akari Unryu. She LOVES pigs, and Ryoga too. Even more so when
Ryoga defeated her sumo pig. Ryoga is the poor, torn, tormented hero of this story, as you can see. He is
torn between expressing himself (quite difficult) to Akane or Akari. Akari loves him in every way,
because he is both a handsome man and a cute pig, while Akane simply likes him as a pig... and not
knowing it. Ryoga doesn't really mind this though, being able to sleep at Akane's side... although Ranma's
making things hard on him. But, unlike most other men who would have given up, Ryoga just stoically
bears it, and trudges on and on, hoping for the best. Quite the hero.
Quite simply said : He's the simple, tormented soul who deserves much better than what life is giving him.
(Me) "I think I'd better look for Ryoga, he's been gone for an hour now."
(Walking off, shouting Ryoga's name.)(Ryoga stumbles back into the page.)
"Eh? How'd I come back here? Where's RanMaFan?" (He leaves.)
(Me coming back) "Where's Ryoga?" (Leaves to find him.)
(A wet pig comes along.) "Qwuee?"
(Akane comes along) "P-Chan! What are you doing here?"
