(artificial humanoids) and cyborgs. Since modern-day technology is as of
yet incapable of creating such sophisticated machinery, these machines,
or possibly their plans, might have been taken from Eraser. Supporting
this theory is the knowledge that Eraser seems to be the most hostile to
E.G.O. among the factions. E.G.O. members with occupations tend to be "the
best in their fields" (for instance, scientists on the cutting edge of
technology--or ahead of it). Typical skills and powers include proficiency
with modern or even futuristic (probably more Eraser technology) weapons,
knowledge of cybernetics, telekinesis and other psychic powers, and genetic
enhancements (Eraser/human hybrids, for example).
The E.G.O. are, ironically, the most commonly encountered and yet hardest
to observe among the factions. It precisely because they are so ingrained
into modern life that their group meetings, if any at all, are easily passed
on or ignored. It could be something as innocuous as a group study or a
dinner out between friends, one can never know. Of course, there is also
the fact that as psionics and espers, EGO may be able to read or manipulate
other peoples' minds enough to avoid detection... |

It is also possible, according to Freelancer Jack, that E.G.O. is not really
an acronym but a literal term of "EGO", as in the Human Ego...A reference
to the last line written in the Ayn Rand book The Fountainhead: "This is
my name: EGO".

Although they are a recently-formed faction, it still prompts one to wonder--why
are there no older members? |
