Alphaville in Königs Wusterhausen, 30.04.1996
Ilwa realy said all guests again off (or deferred the party to Friday). Till at noon we must go to work. After that we had maked fresh, congratulators "dispatch" and rather much champagne drink. On 16.00 o'clock we went about the highway in direction Königs Wusterhausen. Because of a jam we must drive the last 20 km on the Country road. The SIX was in the Bahnhofstraße. Uwe knew KW a little bit: first we tried to look into direction railway station, there must be probably the Bahnhofstraße, the SIX lay directly in front of our nose. Uwe knew also a parking place in the nearness. Because we had still a lot time, we strolled in the area of the SIX. Here we also saw Alphaville-concert placats. We saw, that the admission should be not at 19.00 o'clock, like we were informed, but one hour later. We think, the organization was probably something chaotically, because the concert was possible in a short time. It kept a car beside us. Our T-shirts outed us as Alphaville-fans.
A girl asked us, where the concert would be. She had also Marions concert Infos. We explained her the way and also where she could park. We appointed us then at the parking place, because we wanted only to eat something. We maintained us then about already experienced concerts. Andrea was also at some concerts. So we could exchange our expiriences. After a while we separated us again. Andrea walked also something to eat and we gone to the SIX-entrance Than Karin came to us. She waited already some hours. It followed again typical Fantalking. By the time we became nervous, because Götzes and also Marian were in the contrary to the other musicians still not arrived. Just still in time they came. They also had car jam on the streets. Finally in the hall, we inquire the conditions. The stage was very high (ca.1.80 to 2 m). Fortunately Ilwa had her chair thereby. Also the merchandising rans bad. Bianka opined:" the people have very sparse money here". Perhaps it lay also in the mentality of the audience. We overheard a conversation of two guests: "what will be here today "? "I think Alphaville or such' fucking". We understood, why Alphaville do not like playing in the area around Berlin, They said :" the Berlinian audience is too cool". Till to the beginning of the concert was discotheque. Mainly technomusic were played. We fans had delight to take a drink. Ilwa had some bottles champagne as well as plastic cups (because of her birthday), and Ralf made it possible to steal in it. So we bypassed the dear saloon bar-prices. And we came quickly in a good mood. It was finally on us, to bring the concert mood on the top. We took place in front of the stage.
The program was the same like in Gardelegen. And we put all our power to dancing and singing. But we noticed, that the musicians gave each other conventional signs. Somewhat seemed to be wrong with the technique. Later in the discussion we have heard, that Alphaville couldn't use their own equipment. And the equipment of the disco was bad, so that only the half of the sound came out. In the first row we didn't hear that, but Marion, who standing in the backround, validated this. Marian was so angry about that he went home at once after the concert. Ilwa was a little blue, because she wanted to drink with him to her birthday. Altought that sorrow we had much fun after the concert. The musician as well as all present from the Lunapark (e.g. Karin, Julia, Marion, Rainer...) danced to the music of the 80 years and Soul Dance. If the DJ tried to play something else, we discussed till he must do what we wanted. We drank a lot and the bar maids had difficulties, to understand Englishmen. Götzes, Karin and Andrea were in the meantime already driven at home. They had after all still a amplitudes way and another concert day in Hermsdorf on the following day. Uwe and Ilwa stayed till half past 4 in the morning. Then we became tired also 'cos that was a day with 24 hours. We recognized that also the band tries to go home, but we think it gave presumable a delay...because in the celebration they are difficult to stop. We reached in the morning our bed. For Ilwa it was the most beautiful birthday and we wait already to the following concerts in Hoyerswerda and Dresden.
Alphaville in Hoyerswerda, 17.05.96
We drove already two days before to Ihlow (between Jüterbog and Luckau) to Uwe's parents. From there it's only 100 km till Hoyerswerda. As we woke up on the 17th of May it was a rainy morning how so often on Alphaville-concert-days before. Fortunately concert will take place in a clubhouse. There it will be dry and warm. The hours were unending long till to the departure. At 17.00 o'clock we started and the sun was shining. All streets were free, so that we already at 19.00 o'clock arrived in Hoyerswerda. Now we must find the Bautzener avenue. We thought first of all direction Bautzen, but along was nothing like a youthclub. We drove back, because we had seen on the mainstreet a sign to the Information of the town.
On the trip we
came by next to Burger King. Although we don't like this kind of fast food,
we decided spontaneous to eat there. Young people served us. We thought,
that they certainly have knowledge,
where we can find the club called "Ossi". They looked to us anyway
curious, because our T-shirt already had squeal, that we're Alphaville-fans
and wanted to the concert. So we got faster than thought knowledge about
the way. We took the food with us. We couldn't eat something before we're
not in front of the club. On the way we saw also the first concert placats.
We saw also the price for the tickets and that was a shock: 34 German Marks,
that means 68 German Marks for us both together. Actually we could not
pay so much, but it is however for Alphaville and now we're already here...
The whole event was named Oldie party, we thought we aren't so aged that we're oldies. In front of the Ossi were already many people and we saw well-known fan-automobiles. Shocked from the costs we eated the Burgers. We inquired the environment and got the second shock, because the concert was Open-Air!!! Fortunately the sun was powerful and the weather seemed to be on this way. We remembered that already many concerts in the morning rain falls and then in the evening we had the most beautiful weather. With good moods (and naturally with chair) we went to the entrance. Marion gave us informations the admission should start at 20.00/ 20.30 o'clock and the beginning of the concert should be at 23.00 o'clock. So we had still enough time. We wondered 'cos the admission already started and we could go at once on the grounds. The only problem: we were not on the list of ordered cards, although we had reserved over the telephone.
We were looking for the merchandising table. We thought we would be falsify 'cos we didn't found. Then Bianka saw us and called. There was the merchandising hidden behind a truck. We were happy to see so many well-known faces: Karin, Gaby, Simone, Andrea and naturally Frank & CO from Chemnitz. In the mid-point first of all Götzes new car stands. They had "buys" an Alphaville-identifier (KA-AV101). Ralf also fixed on it one of the new merchandising products (sticker for cars), which were an idea of Frank. It was simply wonderful! Beside there were new grey "Peace on Earth" T-shirts with coloured characters (red, blue, green, grey...). Then we got either knowledge, that the band themselves have heard that the concert will be open air only at location. The good side of the thing the concerts starts already at 21.00 o'clock. In the way Marion was coming to say "hello". She reconnoitered for us immediately when will be begin in Dresden. It would be the worst if we would arrived too late.
The concert began:
we stood again in the first row. We recognized various new arragements
of the songs. In this way A Victory of Love, Jet Set, Big
in Japan and especially Ivory Tower came better than ever before.
The versions are now nearer to the studio recordings. Marian was in a good
mood. We danced everytime. I looked around from my chair, the concert seemed
sold out, but in the last rows the audience were not so active.
Later we got knowledge from a native species, that this would be the typical
mentality of the Hoyerswerderaner. Just at the hits like Sounds Like
a Melody or Forever Young melted them. Frank had however lights
and we took ourselves on the hands and moved to the music. We were sure
that today we'll see only the "shorter" concert program ('cos
it's dependend on the activity of the audience).
After the main part we at once started to demand a free gift 'come on', but we fans were probably the only who called. One time we were still to have a short relax and in that moment nobody else called for a bonus. We thought today we'll see no free gift 'come on'. What a luck the organisator came at the microphone and said: "They'd play another block of songs yet, but for all that you have to call louder". In the way refracted the ice and we heard "Ivory Tower", "Big in Japan" as well as "Apollo". We were sure, that would be the end of the concert, but now the audience called once more quite powerful, and so we heard to the first times Jerusalem live. Totally enthusiasm fulfilled us still. We find the live version still better than the version from the album. It is livelier.
After the concert, various troubles at the merchandising table there was, because it was already dark and we had no light. We sang as it had become bright. Uwe and me were not completely fortunate, because we know Yvonne, who's at home in Hoyerswerda. We wrote her about the concert and hoped to meet her. We could not believe that she wouldn't come. We speeches to all interested, who came to snoop at the merchandising, and see Yvonne was also thereby. That was making the evening then perfectly for us. We maintained detailed till we start the return journey at 23.30 o'clock. After all we had nor 2 hours to drive and on the next day another great last concert day in Dresden. Nearly we had a crash: strange to say but a big, big wild boar ran in the city of Senftenberg directly behind our car and ran even afterwards. Maybe it came free from the zoo next door ? We arrived safe Ihlow. If we had known, that Bernd (Kalki) danced after the concert in the following took placed Disco, we still rested a little bit ' cos we also like special the music of the 80.
