1/2 daikon radish, peeled and sliced in 1-inch thick
6 cups Dashi (fish stock)
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1/4 cup sake or dry sherry
1 teaspoon salt
4 boiled eggs, shelled
1 Konnyaku (sold as Yam-Cake in refrigerated asian food section)
4 Ganmodokis (fried tofu balls)
4 Chikuwas (fish cake)


1. In a saucepan, heat daikon coverd with water over high heat
until boiled. Continue cooking for 10 minutes. Drain.

2. In a large saucepan, boil dashi; add soy sauce, sake, salt
and daikon; boil again.

3. Add all the other ingredients; reduce heat to low;
cover and cook for 3 hours.
