Tears from a Statue

Don’t remember how I came to be
changing constantly, ever shaped by
cruel provoking Life.  Unfeeling statue

Refusing to regret, You want me to feel
Let me be then, as I stand amongst a multitude
of empty chiseled faces, drilled hollow by

The ways of modern man, or so they say
I say I am who I am
I howl my sorrows amongst them

Don’t you see – My Love?  Or do you
not want to see the corrupted soul that
has already begun to stray away

I have served under the sultans of pain
and visited the kings of pleasure
If only you could see the wonders that

I have seen and cherished, touched and hated
My companion named Sorrow from a place called Unsettled
Living with him my eyes see the decay of time

Since we’ve parted ways I wrestled with my conscience
An unfeeling brute that shattered a gentle
flower that is you My Love

Now I stand alone again amidst the swarm
with my head down and my eyes glazed
This heartless man you once loved

It feels…
It feels…
