2 Mandeville Students Promoted

On Saturday, November 13, Chief Instructor Mr. Peter Lue, VI Dan, assisted by 5th Dans Messrs Chin, Stewart, Ho-on and Chin-Hing, graded 6 Black-Stripes to the rank of 1st Dan Black belt.
Among those from Mandeville was Mr. Troy _____.
Also being promoted to the rank of 3rd Dan was Mr. Lenford 'Captain' Heron.

3 Mandeville Students earn their Black Belts

On Saturday, November 22, Chief Instructor Mr. Peter Lue, VI Dan, assisted by 5th Dans Messrs Chin, Stewart, Ho-on and Chin-Hing, graded 7 Black-Stripes to the rank of 1st Dan Black belt.
Among those from Mandeville were Messrs Ralston West, Robert Hendircks and Dwayme McLean.

Mandeville instructors promoted

At the 2nd Jamaica TaeKwon-Do Association Instructor course held in Ocho Rios in November, Mandeville Chief Instructor, Mr. Harrison Chin Hing, was promoted to the rank of V Dan by General Choi. Also grading from Mandeville were Mr. Rohan Bowes and Mr. Gordon Black, both promoted to IV Dan.

Mandeville Tournament this Saturday

Mandeville's Annual Open TKD Tournament takes place Saturday, July 21, at the Belair High Shool Auditorium starting at 10am.

All Jamaican team members, particularly those from Mandeville, fresh from the ITF World Championships in Itlay are expected to compete, including our sole medalist at the games, Miss Opal Martin, 1 Dan. The event is open to all martial arts schools in Jamaica.

Results of grading

Congratulations to Miss Antoneal Swaby and Mr. Lenford Heron, who received their 2nd degree black belt on Saturday November 18.

The test was conducted by Chief Instructor Mr. Peter Lue, V Dan, Mr. Claude Chin IV Dan and Mr. Herbert Stewart IV Dan with assistance from Mr. Xavier Ho-on, IV Dan and Mr. Harrison Chin Hing IV Dan. The candidates were presented with their new belts at the end of the test.

Jamaicans total 15 medals at General Choi Cup
4 from Mandeville!

The Jamaica TaeKwon-Do Association received its biggest accolade to date when the Jamaica Team to the General Choi Cup, which took place October 27 & 28 in Connecticut, USA, amassed 15 medals including 5 Gold, 3 silver and 7 Bronze. Mandeville's take of that total was 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 4 Bronze.

Mandeville TKD 20 Year Celebration

The Mandeville TKD 20 year celebration dinner took place on Saturday, June 17.

Seated at the head table were Chief Instructor, Sabum Peter Lue, VI Dan, Mandeville TKD Chief Instructor and President of the Jamaica TaeKwon-Do Association, Sabum Harrison Chin Hing, IV Dan, Sabums Claude Chin, Xavier Ho-on and Herbert Stewart, IV Dan, Mandeville TKD Senior Instructor Mr. Rohan Bowes, III Dan, and JaTKD Secretary and Mandeville Senior Instructor Miss Joleen Masters.

Guests attending represented the Mandeville and Kingston schools, as well as representatives from Zendo Karate, Seido Karate, and WTF Taekwon-Do were on hand for the celebration.

Tributes were made to Sabum Chin Hing, Mr. Bowes and Miss Masters for their dedication and service over the many years. A special message was also sent from Grand Master Chuck Sereff, IX Dan, of the United States TaeKwon-Do Federation (USTF).

Mandeville TaeKwon-Do celebrate 20 years

The Mandeville TaeKwon-Do school will celebrate their 20th anniversary with a dinner function on June 17th at the International Chinese Restaurant on Manchester Road in Mandeville. The function starts at 7pm with coktails and dinner at 8pm sharp.

Chief Instructor Mr. Peter Lue, V Dan conducted the test assisted by Mr. Herbert Stewart IV Dan and Mr. Xavier Ho-on, IV Dan. Mr. Lue's comments at the end of the test were that he was reasonably pleased with the exam in general, however the was still work to be done.

The graders will receive their belts at the Central TaeKwon-Do Championship in Mandeville on July 15.
