(5-96) A good friend of mine once said: "Sex for Chinese is a happy event. Just look at the prints and graphics left from history. People engaged in sexual activities all have the facial expression of happiness." At the time, it struck me like a breeze of fresh air, such a simplicity, so true. I was tired of sexual theories, Freudism, complexes, methods and techniques, Masters and Johnson, and the Realm of The Senses... Sex was complicated, climax was forever elusive.
In the early seventies, Chinese discovered a few old tombs dated from 186 BC. the Han dynasty. There were books. One particularly concerned about sex. What struck me the most was the description about foreplay, and the emphasis on pleasing the woman. It talked about touching, kissing, and playing, and the five signs from a woman before sex. The five signs are: flushing on the face, sweating on the nose, the tongue gets thinner and moist, the swelling of the fluids, and the swallowing motion. I wonder how many "modern" men have the patience to wait for all five signs. I'd like to think we have progressed forward. But I'm afraid, in this case, as well as many others, it is proven that our ancestors of two thousand years ago may be wiser than we are.
