Supervised the move of Bowers Museum collections to a new building. Responsible for the organization by culture of artifacts in the new storage facility, and for the installation of an earthquake safety shelf restraint system. Was involved in conservation including the contracting of outside services for special projects as well as standard preservation and preventive conservation techniques.
Was responsible for the transfer of Bowers Museum artifact records into a computer database (ARGUS from Questor Systems). Experience with ARGUS on a daily basis in organization and tracking of artifacts in storage and on display.
Participated in the coordination and installation of Bowers Museum exhibitions in activities ranging from artifact handling to mount-making and gallery preparation; had experience with registraral procedures as required by day to day museum operations; was responsible for daily coordination of a volunteer team and interns - a force of one to six persons from age thirteen to seventy-six.
Participated in a successful application for American Association of Museums (AAM) accreditation of the Bowers Museum (granted November 1993). Assisted in applications for National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Conservation Grant, Collections Maintenance Grant, and General Operating Support Grant.
Assisted in a successful application for an Institute of Museum Services (IMS) Conservation Project Support Grant, subsequent implementation of Conservation Survey with Balboa Art Conservation Center, and in the reporting of the results of the survey.
Was responsible for receiving, inventory, coordination and dispersal of many Bowers Museum publications. Assisted in the production of publications (Images of Power and Guardians of the Lifestream, Cultural Arts Press).
Contributed to the creation of The Bowers Museum of Cultural Art Collections Policy, and was involved in the development of a disaster preparedness plan for museum collections and galleries.
