Record of Lodoss War

Lodoss, the accursed island. Born in battle and baptized in fire, it has seen wars ravage its kingdoms for thousands of years. Now, an evil beyond any it has ever faced before is awakening, and a party of six are drawn together to battle for the future of everything dear to them. Among them: Parn, a young fighter who lacks experience and is driven by his desire to redeem his father's tarnished name; Deedlit, a young and haughty elf who is both attracted to the young fighter and infuriated by his lack of interest; Ghim, a grizzled dwarf warrior haunted by a personal failure; Etoh, a young priest; Slayn, a skilled magic user; and Woodchuck, a cynical but good-natured thief. Before these six stands an adventure epic in size. Welcome to Record of Lodoss War!
Jonathan- Alright, so we saw Record of Lodoss War, a 13 part OAV series on six tapes. What did you guys think? Ok, I'll go first. I thought that...

Matt- Overall it was pretty good.

Jonathan- Yeah, I thought it was a lot like Dungeons and Dragons. If you've ever played D+D you know how it's going to go.

Matt- It's pretty predictable.

Yari- Very.

Jonathan- Yeah. It can be really predictable

Jonathan- The music? I didn't like the opening, I thought the ending was OK. We did get the dub, I heard the Japanese version was better.

Matt- Personally, I haven't found any anime I like the music to.

Yari- At least in English they don't sound good.

(General agreement)

Jonathan- I liked the backgrounds. Enough to buy a CD full of them anyway.

Jonathan- The ending? You didn't think it was unresolved? Ripe for a sequel!

Matt- It could have been a little better. It was a little corny.

Jonathan- I thought that the last episode was a little rushed, it was a big climactic battle and then...

Matt- They should have split that up into two episodes.

Jonathan- So, final rundown? Matt? Yari?

Matt- Overall, I give 3.5 out of 5 stars, overall it was good, except for a poorly done climax (I liked it-Jonathan). Other aspects in other episodes that weren't to realistic, even for a fantasy series.

Yari- I give it 4 stars. I thought it was one of the better anime videos I've seen, although it became confusing and unrealistic in some parts (Like Parn the stick Warrior?-Jonathan). I think it went the right amount of episodes, and has the good possibility of a sequel.

Jonathan- First I should mention that there is a prequel, called Legend of Crystania, but I've heard that's poor. You can get it from Silverwynd though. I give the series a 3 out of 5 stars. The dub voices were OK, the plot was fair, the animation reused, but decent. All in all, not a bad series, but not a great one either.
Final Rundown:
Jonathan-***---3
Yari-****---4
Matt-***.5---3.5
