Usagi sniffed loudly and dabbed at her eyes
with a tissue.
"And then I told him to get out again. Oh
what am I going to do?" She sobbed loudly.
"Oh Usagi-chan... Why did you say that if
you didn't mean it?" Ami asked.
"Because... *sniffles* Hiai had walked in
on us, and was mad at me. I didn't want
*sniffle* her to be mad at him too!"
"But that's his responsibility, not yours,
Usagi-chan." Ami told her gently.
"But I love him... I don't want to
ruin his life by making his wards mad
at him."
"Mamoru said that the kids love you." Makoto
pointed out.
"And I saw the way they were with you! Kimae
and Kaisai adore you!" Minak exclaimed.
"And so does Mamoru." Rei added.
"Uh-huh!" Minako bobbed her head.
"But now he hates me!" Usagi wailed.
"Oh Usagi-chan!" Minako hugged her. "He
doesn't hate you."
"Yes he does.." She sobbed.
"No, Usagi-chan, he loves you! He must!
I spoke to him before the concert, and he
spoke of you as one would an angel." Ami
told her.
"And at the concert, he couldn't take his
eyes off you." Makoto smiled.
"And I get the feeling Mamoru wouldn't have
done what he did *after* the concert, unless
he really cared." Rei added with a devilish
grin.
"You guys really think so?" Usagi asked,
pulling away. The four girls nodded
solemnly. "Then what should I do?"
"First..." Rei began.

Nervously, Usagi stepped into the elevator
and fidgeted with the hem of her skirt. She
thought the blue dress was indecently short,
but Minako had managed to convince her otherwise.
Sighing, Usagi concentrated on not tripping in
her blue pumps.
The elevator dinged! and she stepped out, trying
to remember Ami's directions.
'First a right, then a left.' Usagi thought.
She headed in what she hoped was the right
direction.
When she finally come to a door with the name
plate Chiba on it, Usagi took a deep breath
and knocked.
"Just a minute!" A familiar, though saddened
voice called. Usagi bit her lip, waiting for
the door to open. After what seemed like a
century, it did.
Mamoru stood surprised, jaw agape as she
stood in front of him. His appearance was
that of a man who had had little sleep in
the past few days, and Usagi knew she wouldn't
have looked much better without the aid of
make-up.
"Hi." Usagi smiled weakly. Still shocked,
Mamoru stepped backward and opened his door
further. He gestured for Usagi to come in,
and she did.
"Do you mind if I sit down? I think I'm
going to fall over in this..." She gestured
to her feet and the several inch heels.
"Of course." Mamoru finally found his voice.
Usagi claimed one of the black leather seats
opposite his desk and Mamoru sat at the
desk chair.
"Can I help you?" He asked. Usagi nodded.
"I want to apologize.. I didn't mean it, what
I said. I was afraid! I am afraid! You are
the only person those children have, and I won't
be the one to come between you and them."
Tears welled up in Usagi's eyes as she spoke.
"You could never come between us!" Mamoru
exclaimed. "The children love you, they
adore you! Kaisai and Kimae didn't understand
why you hadn't come this morning. I didn't
have the heart to tell them it was my fault..."
Mamoru looked down, ashamed.
"It wasn't your fault, Mamo-chan." She said
softly. Mamoru's head shot up to look at her.
"It was my fault. I should have spoken to
you, rather then trying to solve everything
myself. You know those kids better than
I do..."
Mamoru smiled wryly.
"I don't know about that..."
"Will you forgive me? For the way I acted
at my apartment?" Usagi asked. Fear claimed
her blue eyes as she waited for his response.
"There's nothing to forgive, Usako. You were
doing what you thought best." He smiled at
her.
"Really? On Mamo-chan!" Usagi threw herself
into his arms, somehow avoiding the desk.
Mamoru caught her easily and held her close.
"What an interesting dress." He said, after
a moment of holding her and enjoying the
closeness. Usagi giggled.
"It's Minako's. She has an odd sense of
fashion. She is a model though..."
"Oh... That explains everything! Those
models and their weird tastes."
Usagi giggled again.
"I'm glad this is all over, Mamo-chan." She
whispered. "I didn't like not being with
you anymore."
"I didn't like it either." He replied softly.
Usagi looked up at him with gentle eyes. She
smiled before placing her hands on either side
of his face.
"You, Chiba Mamoru, are the most magnificent
man I have ever met."
"And you Tsukino Usagi, are the most wonderful
woman I have ever met." He leaned forward and
captured her lips with his own. Usagi pulled
away before the kiss became too much and she
wouldn't have been able to resist.
"Don't you have work to do?" She asked.
Mamoru shook his head. "Then why are you
here?" She asked.
"Nothing better to do. I didn't want to be
at home, where everything reminded me of you,
of us..." Mamoru told her.
"Oh Mamo-chan..." Usagi sighed and snuggled
deeper against him.
"Usako? Why did you quit?" Mamoru asked.
Usagi stiffened in his arms.
"Well, I figured you would come and try to
find me there... I didn't want you to."
She told him.
"Where do you work now?" He asked. Usagi
shrugged.
"I don't really. I can get a new job. Its not
a big deal."
"Not until the rents due... Usako, come
live with me." Mamoru said suddenly.
"What?" Usagi exclaimed.
"Move in with me. You can live with me and
the children and everything will be wonderful!"
Mamoru told her, holding her tightly. Usagi
laughed.
"Mamo-chan, your such a dreamer." She told him.
"Come on!" He insisted. Usagi giggled.
"Alright." She looked up at him and smiled.
Mamoru smiled back, before kissing her gently
on the lips.
